Why does Prince Edward garner less interest from the press and public compared to the other senior royals?

Is it partly because he's QEII's youngest child, and also that he hasn't really done anything controversial during his life? I'm too young to remember his childhood and formative years - did he get more attention back then?

I thought there was a chance he might assume greater prominence as one of the most senior royals, particularly with the events of the last few years - his nephew the Duke of Sussex departing as a working royal, both his parents passing away, KC struggling with cancer, and AMW now completely ostracised from the family. That doesn't appear to have happened though.

No - the Succession to the Crown Act 2013 applies to people born after 28 October 2011.

They reduced the number of people who had to ask permission from the monarch to marry to six, and also (more significantly I think) removed the exclusion from the line of succession on marrying a Roman Catholic.

howevee looking at his images yesterday at the common wealth, he doesn’t look well. He’s only 62, the royals usually age well, he’s the youngest of the queens children and looks I think the oldest.

Edward does look unwell. Not just because he’s clearly lost weight, he looks old and frail.

I thought he looked pretty chirpy. He is thinner than he used to be, and has been for a while, but I assumed this was a conscious health choice to avoid the AMW porkiness and the Windsor jowls. Sophie always looks in the pink, so I just assumed they were both into keeping an eye on their health as they get older. I liked that he seemed to be decked out in Commonwealth Games merchandise. Lovely pics of interaction between him and Charlotte.

Nor me. Andrew and Charles were chubby kids, Anne and Edward weren’t. He’s looking a bit more like Philip build-wise as he gets older.

I feel sorry for him when the RF instagram page puts up old family footage or photos for Father's and Mother's Day. It's always Charles and Anne now, they can't have Andrew which means Edward misses out.

A friend of mine was at Cambridge with him. One day she was reading a notice board and was aware of someone standing next to her wearing a suit. It was PE. Poor guy still had to wear suits as part of his royal image even as a student. He was there with a protection officer, he read the board and then ambled off.

Allegedly allegedly someone I also knew was at a party with him who said that everyone had to leave the room for a few moments so that he could do something privately. Still, at least he didn’t say “Hello Mummy” afterwards.

My son is a dead ringer for PE’s son, James Wessex. Do you think there are career opportunities as a royal look a like these days? PS I would say that I haven’t met PE but actually I have but it was during the day and Sophie was there who led the show and was utterly delightful. PE, I think, grew up in the spotlight, is socially awkward so he puts on a show to literally act out his royal duties.

I was also watching an interview with an ex royal butler who said that PE had private rooms in. Buckingham Palace so he did. It intermingle with his parents very much, ie no nightly family dinner. The butler would deliver PE’s evening meal to him and during the stint with the Royal Marines, he would often find PE asleep on the sofa with his feet bleeding. The marines was a ridiculous choice for him, I don’t know why he didn’t stick with the regular army or go into the RAF.

And funnily enough, even Army and RAF and Navy personnel can have bleeding feet while on exercise, training and on active duty.

People do their best to avoid it but it still happens.

Maybe your son will like to try joining up to report back if he gets bloodied feet, blisters and broken skin? Would he make it through training Mummy?
