Why does Prince Edward garner less interest from the press and public compared to the other senior royals?

Is it partly because he's QEII's youngest child, and also that he hasn't really done anything controversial during his life? I'm too young to remember his childhood and formative years - did he get more attention back then?

I thought there was a chance he might assume greater prominence as one of the most senior royals, particularly with the events of the last few years - his nephew the Duke of Sussex departing as a working royal, both his parents passing away, KC struggling with cancer, and AMW now completely ostracised from the family. That doesn't appear to have happened though.

I could quite happily swap - being mega rich sounds quite appealing as I'm skint.

Because he does do anything controversial, married a good lady, has lovely children. Nothing murky to write about so the press are not interested. I think they have the balance perfect of royal duties and their family life. Their children are beautiful. How Royals should behave

It was started in March - relatively recently really. And it’s got to 5 pages.
But it shows how little interest there is in the Edinburghs, same goes for Anne.

Nothing since March. @welshgirl2025 must have gone looking for it.

They know they have a great life. No controversy, nothing to interest the Press. For all we know they could work for Kingsman. But they get a nice life out of it. Edward comes from an age when the Queens sons didn't have careers except maybe military but he chose the wrong branch of the Service. Seemingly not allowed to work in the Media but may have been good at it.

His TV production company Ardent folded with losses of £2m.

The only year it turned a profit was the year he waived the rent on its offices which were situated in his own stable block.

Agree on this - when it mattered - Camilla and Sophie showed loyalty to the royals rather than to Virginia Giuffre.

And even that was boring! She had an unremarkable relationship with a completely unremarkable bloke.

I saw her my god she is insufferable surely she has something else to write about seeing as she has had a long entertainment career. But nah I shagged a prince! She was on Im a celebrity when they were in.Wales, during Covid she was touting her I shagged a prince on that!

Particularly disappointing from Camilla, who has been reasonably sound on VAWG in the past.

I read some of the extracts on the daily mail (I have been in my sick bed), and the level of intimate details was shocking. She said, they shagged each other stupid, she wore no knickers to hint she wanted sex, denying he was gay etc, it's fairly stomach churning reading. Some respect for his wife would be the decent thing to do. I do feel for Edward and Sophie and their children having this aired very publicly.

To be honest, she's done no favours by releasing such intimate stories as that will put people off buying the book, weekends with royals who are sadly deceased (Margaret, Queen, Philip etc) and the West End in the 80s and 90s would be interesting reading than a full blown kiss and tell,.

He's really boring I guess. I mean his sister is the only female child of the late queen, his middle brother is famous for being a sleaze and his elder brother was heir/is king.

He probably quite likes being the quiet, dull one!

I met him through a National Youth Theatre event. He was charming in a quiet, inoffensive way and he made a point of talking and shaking hands with as many youngsters as possible. He married well. I know someone who has met Sophie, his wife, on a number of occasions and they speak very highly of her. The four of them with their two lovely children are quietly hardworking royals. I think appreciation of them is growing.

Because he's not very interesting. I know people who've met him and they say he was nice and inoffensive but, being brutal, he's not particularly bright or talented. He was once the sweet, blond youngest son of the Queen but now he really is the spare in that he's getting old, hasn't any particular characteristics which stand out and hasn't ever done anything very exciting.

Charles was PoW and had several projects he was passionate about.
Anne had her equestrianism (very successful) and works incredibly hard and has established a reputation as a tough, no-nonsense, down-to-earth woman.
Andrew...least said! But you can't call him colourless. I'll admit through gritted teeth that when young he was the least unattractive of the royal children. He's loathsome, but he's not someone you can easily ignore (for all the wrong reasons).
But Edward didn't like the armed services, didn't go to university (did he??) and was a bit of a misfit within the family. He wanted to be an actor but really had no particular talent. He ran a production company for a while but it could only sell documentaries based on his royal connections, so folded.

He's just a bit....limp and uninteresting.

He graduated from Cambridge with a degree in history I think, but he got special treatment for entry as his A Level grades were dismal. He tried with Ardent Productions, however it seemed like a royal vanity project.

I think he was the most sensible out of his siblings when it came to family life, he didn't rush Sophie down the aisle (they dated for most of the 90s from memory) like Diana and Fergie were, and their children seem to be quite well adjusted.

Maybe he has fulfilled his " role" as it were to the best of his abilities without seeking the limelight, posting endless photos of his private life etc ?

Hasn't done anything exciting?
