@mylovelygreendress is a genuine and long time poster.
I think it would be fair to say a real ’stalwart’ on this board (😉iykyk)

Sad that someone wants to use that against her for stalking and mocking purposes.

Been on a wee trip so not around as much . What have I said to upset posters ??
Thanks to those who have supported me .

I genuinely don’t understand why people
care enough about the RF to post anything deletable. They are obviously all making money in shady ways-even the ones who aren’t actively grifting are rich because of various entrenched feudal laws and advantages. They are
interesting because they are a soap opera with tiaras. And because they wear pretty frocks. None of them are people of any particular merit-one or two of them do try to do “good work”, and deserve a little credit for trying, but none of them seem to actually achieve anything.

The poster who was deleted wasn’t posting anything remotely relevant that would show she cared about the rf !
instead she was mocking a fellow poster.

It depends doesn’t it?

The Prime Minister doesn’t have his family weddings and funerals broadcast on national tv and largely funded by the tax payer.

The problem with the royal family is that they invite the British public to partake in, and fund, the major family events in their lives and then frown on any public interest in to their private lives that is less than optimum shall we say!

I agree that the private-public ambiguity is unhelpful for everyone.

This is one of the biggest issues I have with monarchy,,and it's built-in. Similarly, I have strong objections to the whole hereditary system..

If George really doesn't want to be king, he can opt out, but I can imagine it would be very hard.

goldingoose · 14/03/2026 00:00

I'm an ex pc from NE Scotland where the Royal Family have castles and spend quite a bit of time. Although I never met her other officers I worked with (mostly men at that time..and misogynistic men usually) thought so highly of her. Her down to earth-ness and her sense of humour is what I remember them speaking about.

What’s your definition of work? Very few of us work down the mines these days, of course.

Does it involve time and energy, intentionally expended? Is the output valued by the recipients? If yes, sounds like work of some form to me.

It involves a heck of a lot more than any of the RF does.

The use if the word 'work' to describe what they do is imo actually an insult to everyone who works.

They've got their arms out as if they're about to have a great big hug. But I'm guessing that didnt happen? He's probably quite sweaty at this point so I don't blame her

Edited

At the previous match at Murrayfield, Calcutta Cup against England, Sione had reached out and got a kind of brush off pat from Anne, along the lines of “I like you but this isn’t protocol, you don’t touch a royal” in a nice way. So this time he was acknowledging that in a very fun way, like “ready for a hug yet?” And she laughed right back.

Very sensible of her to not over react in any way and go along with the joke. There’s such obvious fondness from her for Scottish rugby.

I am English, live in France but definitely rooting for Scotland yesterday. Brilliant match, deserved win, Finn Russell great captain, not really been a top leader since Rob Wainwright in the 90's. Anne is not only president of Scottish rugby but loves it. Great interview with her on the good, the bad and the rugby (Tindal and Haskell) also William and Kate for those who enjoy rugby banter.
Followed by poor performance by England against Italy, Rome will still be celebrating the historic win.

Sione is the captain, hence him collecting the trophies. Finn is sometimes Vice Cap.

TheRuffleandthePearl · 14/03/2026 01:58

I also thought it was funny on a clip from rugby podcast when the French pundit (ex player) Ben was discussing this and checked “is she a princess?” And Mike said “she’s my MIL Grin

He clearly doesn't listen to Mike constantly flapping his gums about his Royal in laws! Unless the guy was taking the piss!

Zara is very huggy - she’s the only one who I’ve seen regularly sling an arm around Charles. So maybe in private Anne is a hugger too.

I was very surprised to see how comfortable Carole Middleton was at the races this week putting her arms around Anne.

I heard it said recently that many that many consider she is the best Queen we never had and I agree.
I think she would have been excellent and suspect Andrew would have got short shrift much faster.
Plus the whole tragedy with Diana would have been avoided and Harry’s dramatics too.
Charles would have been happier with a quieter life focusing on his gardening and charities.

Charles is older than Anne so she would have been ahead of Andrew but still unlikely ever to have been Queen

wordler · 14/03/2026 18:27

I think it’s a shame when they changed the rules so that Charlotte kept her place in the line of succession that they didn’t apply to all living royals that way Anne and defendants would have pushed Andrew from currently 8th to 16th.

wordler · 14/03/2026 21:29

Decedents not defendants.

While it would take an utter catastrophe to put any of them near the top slot can I put forward a putative King Pete? 🤐

CurlewKate · 14/03/2026 21:42

She obviously has fantastic PR!!!

Really? I thought you thought he was the Chinese milk grifter?

CrocusesFlowering · 14/03/2026 21:55

I’ve just looked at the totally out of date website for Pete’s company sel.co.uk
The footage on the home page is filmed from the balcony of BP.

Would that stop his accession in your scenario?

wordler · 14/03/2026 22:23

CathyorClaire · 14/03/2026 21:58

Would that stop his accession in your scenario?

Not necessarily - if he was closer to the top of the line I wouldn’t be thrilled with some of his business activities but he’s not in league of Harry for trading directly on the Royal brand for money, and anything that pushed the Yorks down and away from the Crown would have been a good thing.

Would get Andrew away from the counselor of state position for a start.

CrocusesFlowering · 14/03/2026 22:37

But sure they have all traded on the Royal brand for money. QE2 got reduced rates for shooting on Balmoral- she paid less than local businesses despite being one of the wealthiest people in the country. That’s just one tiny example.

Serenster · 16/03/2026 21:54

Back to the topic, Scottish Rugby posted this after the final weekend of the Six Nations. They had three wins and finished in the top half of the table - and the Captain did finally get his hug. 🤣

What is it specifically about Princess Anne that people “like”?

Viviennemary · 16/03/2026 22:12

Nothing but clever PR.
