Aw. I am pretty devoted anti-monarchist but just on a human level, find that really touching. Think it’s thr joy in all their faces.

thanks for sharing op, nice start to a Sunday morning

Anne's ex-husband, Cpt Mark Phillips had a child with a woman in New Zealand.

She nodded her way through that. Tough she is!

Is she not a completely standard horsy woman with rather bad manners? I don’t think I get the adulation. She cuts more ribbons than the rest of them and rewears clothes.

Typical horsey women tend to be practical problem solvers with no time for pretension.
Exactly what the RF needs.

Anne’s service to the crown is quite a life’s work. The original spare and the ones who’s actually done the job.

binkie163 · 08/03/2026 08:00

I am English, live in France but definitely rooting for Scotland yesterday. Brilliant match, deserved win, Finn Russell great captain, not really been a top leader since Rob Wainwright in the 90's. Anne is not only president of Scottish rugby but loves it. Great interview with her on the good, the bad and the rugby (Tindal and Haskell) also William and Kate for those who enjoy rugby banter.
Followed by poor performance by England against Italy, Rome will still be celebrating the historic win.

They've got their arms out as if they're about to have a great big hug. But I'm guessing that didnt happen? He's probably quite sweaty at this point so I don't blame her

Edited

She’s taking the mick as when he last met her he tried to hug her apparently which obviously you don’t do with princess Anne!

Yep. Rugby fan gets paid for watching rugby…..

Clearly you know nothing about Anne’s support of Scottish rugby ! She is a stalwart fan , sings Flower of Scotland along with the crowd and is very involved and knowledgeable without fuss .,

In a less discreet moment, chats I’ve had with staff at two Scottish royal residences have made it clear that she is the staff’s absolute favourite, ‘nae bother’ and missed when not there. Says quite a lot…..

CurlewKate · 08/03/2026 09:23

It always amuses me when people are so incredibly admiring when amember of the RF behaves in any way like a normal human being. It’s like when a man changes a nappy. “He’s such a great hands on dad!!!!!”

Well, exactly. ‘Less obviously awful than the rest of her family, had a discreet affair and a discreet divorce, didn’t give the kids titles’ isn’t much of a recommendation.

What a miserable comment. You’re clearly not Scottish.

Reread your last sentence. She cuts more ribbons than the rest of them and rewears clothes.

What that means in reality is she has more organisations she is involved with and takes an interest in and visits, and she isn't showy and wasteful. She is hardworking.

Additionally she had the sense to not have titles for her children so they could grow up more 'normal' given how far away from succession they would be.

I'd like that kind of work for that kind of money, can other people apply?

AllSlippersareBanned · 08/03/2026 09:38

She’s probably the only one that I don’t dislike. I quite like Camilla, too. She just gets on with it with minimal fuss or attention. In my fantasy world where we get rid of them all, she can stay.

EvelynBeatrice · 08/03/2026 09:53

Well I do think it is at least a little admirable that having been born into a very odd type of life which often breeds the entitled, lazy and emotionally disregulated, she is’normal’.

It seems fairly clear that she didn’t much like being a princess or the expectations put upon her to be decorative and had little choice at that time in history but to accept it. She made the very best of it trying to be useful in engagements, pursuing her riding and trying to keep her children’s lives ordinary.

Oh give it a rest. People are just showing a bit of appreciation for quiet duty, a rare virtue these days.

It’s not, you know. I know a ton of people who live lives of quiet duty-public service, charity work- without getting paid megabucks for it.

We’ll see this is the royal family sub , I would assume that people are here to discuss them , but I’m sure you can find a charity sub or public service sub to discuss your friends good work.

Well that’s clearly not true judging by the posts on this topic currently! And you clearly can’t help but pop up to criticise any royal regardless of what they are doing!
but then I imagine it’s a complicated narrative.

Did we ever find out what the complicated narrative was in respect of Catherine’s cancer?
