It’s not harmless because they’re propping up the whole system.

Fair point.

CathyorClaire · 24/03/2026 16:47

Thread's moved on a bit but if anyone's still interested in Ed's business activities, this article is worth a read:

www.standard.co.uk/hp/front/mystery-of-edwards-ardent-fan-6314790.html

£2.2m down the pan and a mystery injection of offshore cash potentially allowing him to retain rights to his recorded material.

Another shoddy git flying under the radar.

BoxingHare · 24/03/2026 16:50

Worth posting that on the new Edward thread @CathyorClaire

Thanks.

I haven't caught up yet with today's doings yet and have to go now (Damn RL 😂) but will certainly do so later.

They have some brass necks to even turn up at a bloody ribbon cutting these days. Anyone else would be so mortified at having to represent such a dysfunctional and dodgy family. But no, gotta keep the Sovereign Grant coming in Charlie. Stay relevant, be seen, then check the bank account for the lodgment from the Treasury.

Ukisgaslit · 25/03/2026 11:40

Speaking of brass necks - William did a short PR cycle for comic relief .

Did any of the news coverage mention that the Duchy of Cornwall had charged the comic relief charity over £10,000,000 in rent up to 2023??

Yes I know Charles was filling his pockets from the Duchy during that time too but what has William done to repay the charity exactly?

The group of charities who were renting from the Duchy were charged £20,000,000 until they all left the building .

damsello · 25/03/2026 12:42

I've had a daft idea....

Put everything they own into a company. The shareholders are us and them. The Chairman and CEO are members of the RF, CFO is a Senior Civil Servant. And so on as company law decrees. AGM once a year at which a number of us, the shareholders can attend by lottery. Vote for or against strategies, operations, financial control and so on.

That'd keep them on their toes, and give us, the shareholders some say in how our money is used. It would also take the onus off politicians to do something, which they won't.

I know the above is a bit mad, but streams of consciousness often bring such daft ideas!

bluegreygreen · 25/03/2026 13:04

Waiting for people to point out it's a thread about AMW...

No?

Did any of the news coverage mention that the Duchy of Cornwall had charged the comic relief charity over £10,000,000 in rent up to 2023??

As I understand it, the Duke of Cornwall was reported to be arranging for 'grass roots' charities not to pay rent.

I don't think an organisation whose last accounts show charity income £46m, charity expenditure £45.2m, funds carried forward £108m, CEO salary £202k, quite counts as that.

Ukisgaslit · 25/03/2026 13:04

@damsello

That’s the sort of thinking we need

But the Windsors are beyond reform I think. They’ve had most of the last century and up to today to demonstrate a degree of generosity or morality . Instead they have spent the time secretly excluding themselves from laws and grossly enriching themselves thank you Guardian for your 10 year ( yes 10 year ) legal battle to uncover some of the laws the Windsors did not want to obey etc

Those members of the public who continue to call out questions to the Windsors are doing the rest of us a massive public service.

Ukisgaslit · 25/03/2026 13:08

@bluegreygreen

Oh yes William waived the fee for life boat crews crossing a beach and said he would halve the rent for small local charities

No change at all to the millions they strip from the NHS , prisons, schools etc - the big earners in other words .

Capitalism red in tooth and claw and throw a few breadcrumbs for the pr to big up. And some wonder why William is seen as a hypocrite

There is a lot of guff about what they do for charity, but when they not only get paid millions by us to do it but charge charities millions. Hardly philanthropy when they pay minimal tax.

Gonefishingithink · 26/03/2026 08:20

It’s all a huge con. They’ve hoodwinked us all into thinking they’re doing the country a huge ‘service’. Harry’s favourite word. A service to themselves on a huge scale really. They throw pennies into the crowds whilst pocketing large wads of cash .

NightBitch · 26/03/2026 22:37

Ukisgaslit · 24/03/2026 15:53

Really there are few crowds .
People under 50 are not interested.
That fact is covered up by bussing in school children ( I think that’s disgraceful) or doing ‘surprise’ visits

I remain convinced that they know they are not popular . If the Windsors thought there was any chance they’d win a referendum they’d have one .

I’m nearing 70 and when a child I was bussed in with all my fellow pupils to see the Queen and swell the crowds. They’ve been doing this a long time. In those days we were all handed a little flag on a stick to wave as she passed by. Is there anything more performative? “Our dear beloved leader” stuff. 😂😂

Same.

For the Queen. And for Charles after his investiture as Prince of Wales ( I grew up.in Wales).

And Anne came to visit the village once, to witness one of our local fetes. They butchered a (large) piece of common land to make it look nicer, and ruined the ecostructure ( as in, you used to be able to walk across it easily before; after, it was a clay bog).

To those that say "Anne's out doing 101 visits a day, William is a lazy sod" - I'm with William.

I don't want to see you, I don't need to see you. Stay home, enjoy your life, get the nation used to not needing you front and centre.

So they should do nothing in return for all their riches?

TravellingSomewhere · 29/03/2026 13:17

So Andrew is moving or has moved into this smaller property on the Sandringham estate and today I am read about this caravan his security will be staying in...why does he still need security? He isn't going on any engagements and if he on an estate that is already protected then why does he need security..I hope we are not paying for it.

Mylovelygreendress · 29/03/2026 14:06

I imagine there are some people who would like him to disappear…
KC is paying for his security .

Lalgarh · 29/03/2026 14:07

The ottomans did this all the time.

NewAgeNewMe · 29/03/2026 16:30

I doubt it’s the ottomans they are worried about.

I assume, there are others, more powerful than the RF, who’d like Andrew to disappear.

Flags like that were handed out during the silver jubilee. Every child got a commemorative sovereign and mug too.

Open Parliament, wine and dine state visitors, lead the parties on occasiobs of national importance. Why would we want or need an unelected HoS to do anything more than that?
