BBC saying arrested, but for passing on information rather than all the ‘other stuff…’

It’s a start at least!

Ihateboris · 19/02/2026 10:08

I stand corrected! Bloody awesome news 👏

MrsLeonFarrell · 19/02/2026 10:09

I suspect the reporting will be really circumspect to avoid prejudicing any trial. Which is really the only way to report with a public figure like AMW.

EmpressSisi · 19/02/2026 10:09

🥳

BlimeyOReillyO · 19/02/2026 10:09

Fabulous! I hope he doesn’t get bail, I hope he rots!

A horrific outcome would be if they simply charge him for wrongdoing in public office, eg passing on some info during his days as trade envoy. Then he essentially gets trialled and punished for eyes of the public but it's a slap on the wrist compared to the other crimes and trafficking.

A conspiracy side thinks this may have been previously agreed upon, or the best solution Charles could come up with. He gets arrested for a minor white collar crime and the rest is just glossed over. One can only hope that once things get to a court of law, someone in there has a sense of justice and common sense and does their best to bash out all the other charges.

I wonder if he is sweating yet?

😂😂😂
sometimes just 7 words can be wittily hilarious!

AtIusvue · 19/02/2026 10:10

It’s his birthday today 😂

BlimeyOReillyO · 19/02/2026 10:11

TokyoSushi · 19/02/2026 10:04

Seems like it’s happened on his birthday too!

What a shame 😳

Zippedydodah · 19/02/2026 10:11

I bet buggerall happens.
The king is hardly going to stand by after years of collusion with AMW’s activities and let him be prosecuted, is he?
There must be implications for other members of the royal family who knew exactly what was going on.

StaySpicy · 19/02/2026 10:11

Shame it's not for his other crimes. But I hope he's having a lovely birthday in a police cell.

Ihateboris · 19/02/2026 10:12

I bet he's sweating now..I hope this is the beginning of the end of the Monarchy

crasenda · 19/02/2026 10:12

The cynic in me feels this is the least offensive charge possible to keep us happy that at least something is being done. Meanwhile there are other far more awful things to be accounted for both by AMW and many other high profile individuals.

I hope the king does the right thing and lets him accept his punishment. Even though if prosecuted it’ll only be a suspended sentence or community service.

NewAgeNewMe · 19/02/2026 10:13

He will be hung out to dry. And no one’s fault but his own.

@MrsLeonFarrell it does feel a bit like that.

Edited

I don't believe he'll be "trialled" at all - if it comes to it I'm convinced they'll claim he's "too mentally fragile" - and AFAIK he's not been charged with anything yet, but otherwise I agree with your post

The whole thing really is becoming beyondd belief

Those demanding links and saying they can’t ‘see’ it…Are you waiting for a proclamation or something?

The King is on record as both suggesting right at the beginning that making Andrew trade envoy was a bad idea, and recently saying he supports any police investigation. I don't see any evidence that he is going to protect Andrew, or that he wants to.

If Andrew does get protected it is far more likely, imo, to come from the other parts of the establishment, politicians and civil service, who knew he was grifting and kept him in the role.

Where? At least try and put up some kind of link?

Are you incapable of googling

IAmKerplunk · 19/02/2026 10:16

I wonder if he will be treated differently or put in a cell like other people who are arrested.
Do we think the palace will issue a statement or anything?

Don't be daft, it's normal when you start such a sensational thread as this to provide some kind of back up though

Yes this is what I fear too. Maximum term for this is apparently life. I really can’t see it happening…. Also, Is Mandelson also being arrested? He also allegedly shared confidential information, abusing his position.
