He’s been arrested and is in police custody. He’s not just answering some questions. They must feel they have sufficient evidence to charge him with something. I bet the arresting officer enjoyed every minute of it!

fairmaidofutopia · 19/02/2026 10:17

I think the King and the rest of the RF will let justice take its course. This is the only way that it may prevent the rest of them going down with him. I honestly do not think Charles or William had knowledge, detailed knowledge of what he was doing. It’s not like they have a normal sibling relationship. I have no idea of the potential punishments for this, but the very fact that he has been arrested is a big step forward

A horrific outcome would be if they simply charge him for wrongdoing in public office, eg passing on some info during his days as trade envoy. Then he essentially gets trialled and punished for eyes of the public but it's a slap on the wrist compared to the other crimes and trafficking.

A conspiracy side thinks this may have been previously agreed upon, or the best solution Charles could come up with. He gets arrested for a minor white collar crime and the rest is just glossed over. One can only hope that once things get to a court of law, someone in there has a sense of justice and common sense and does their best to bash out all the other charges.

Edited

It's not a minor crime. The BBC just said it can carry up to a life sentence.

Are you incapable of googling

I did, there was precisely nothing on line at the exact instance the OP started the thread, 2 minutes later there was a breaking news from BBC

sweetsardineface · 19/02/2026 10:17

He will be absolutely mortified and probably furious about this. Good.

Doseofreality · 19/02/2026 10:18

Hopefully this will lead to the downfall and scrapping of the entire family of scrounging wrong’uns.

Zippedydodah · 19/02/2026 10:11

I bet buggerall happens.
The king is hardly going to stand by after years of collusion with AMW’s activities and let him be prosecuted, is he?
There must be implications for other members of the royal family who knew exactly what was going on.

It would appear the late queen knew or had an inclin when she bailed hom out with millions of pounds.

ladymalfoy · 19/02/2026 10:18

I hope the arresting officer was Gene Hunt.

crasenda · 19/02/2026 10:18

Will he be allowed to bring his teddy bears into his cell tonight.

Ihateboris · 19/02/2026 10:19

The Royalists will be on soon to defend him...

They knew that his Queen paid off Virgina Giuffre and that he has been lying for ages.

IAmKerplunk · 19/02/2026 10:16

I wonder if he will be treated differently or put in a cell like other people who are arrested.
Do we think the palace will issue a statement or anything?

Nobody is ever put in a cell with others in police stations in the UK. 🤣.

There are no sherrifs or monetary bail either in case your only point of reference for legal matters is US tv.

AFAIK ‘misconduct in public office’ is classed as a very serious offence. It’s not a trivial matter at all.

RainbowBagels · 19/02/2026 10:20

How annoying I gave up Mumsnet for Lent and then this happens!
Bloody hell Ive never been happier to be proved wrong! I dont see how they can keep the trade envoy files sealed now. If there is evidence of criminal activity in them it looks like, instead of investigating them at the time, they were sealed for 100 years. This needs to be investigated too.

Can’t you read? She said “like other people”, not “with other people”. Embarrassing.

crasenda · 19/02/2026 10:21

I hope he stamps feet and demands "Do you know who I aaaaam?" and the officer replies "Why, do you not remember?"

You’re going to tell us there are no gavels in court, too, aren’t you? 😀

likelysuspect · 19/02/2026 10:21

Its only for misconduct in a public office

He is in custody.

Nice!!

The person you're quoting didn't make any mention of being put in a cell with others or of bail.

Agree. And for the Kings brother to he arrested for misconduct in a public office, passing confidential government information on not only to Epstein but it seems other people too is very serious indeed.

The cynic in me feels this is the least offensive charge possible to keep us happy that at least something is being done. Meanwhile there are other far more awful things to be accounted for both by AMW and many other high profile individuals.

Still another 9 police forces investigating…..

Frenchfrychic · 19/02/2026 10:23

Mandelson must be shitting himself as he’s also passed info.
