Breaking news on X.
The Sun royal editor reporting 6 unmarked vehicles arrived at AMWs home at 8am this morning. Could be warrant being conducted or even better an arrest.

Andrew - continuing his effort to end the Monarchy, part 2
ThePoshUns · 19/02/2026 09:59

Also confirmed by other news sources. On his birthday. Most excellent news.

Yes, it's on BBC now.

ThePoshUns · 19/02/2026 10:03

He’s been arrested!

NewAgeNewMe · 19/02/2026 10:04

Misconduct in public office. It’s a start.

MrsLeonFarrell · 19/02/2026 10:06

I know everyone wanted the palace to make more statements over the past weeks, I wonder if this is why they didn't.

It does feel a bit like Al Calpone going down for tax evasion.

I hope that those in the civil service and government involved in letting him continue in the role despite all they knew are also called to some kind of account.

ascenda · 19/02/2026 10:06

If the arrest is confirmed, one hopes that the entire house of cards will come crashing down now.

But my instinct tells me that this may be firewalling to keep the great unwashed satisfied for now that something is being done at last. He will be questioned and released on bail pending investigations that will last for years I reckon.

But I hope I'm wrong. It's very hard not to be cynical isn't it?

NewAgeNewMe · 19/02/2026 10:10

Institution first. People second. He will be hung out to dry. Good.

On this dreich morning this has cheered me up !

Have just read that Express article @TheAutumnCrow

It's very poorly written - you would almost wonder if it's been deliberately obfuscating.
It seems to be about 2 different allegations, one an anonymous one about a child (which I agree was horrible to read) - but sentences about each mixed in with each other in paragraphs so it really wasn't clear which you were reading about.

Yes, it jumps from Frogmore Cottage (Windsor) to Virginia Water (Surrey), and from child to woman. Could have done with a proof read, not just a legal once-over.

Yes, very hard not to be cynical. I just remember when he was fighting against the US trying to serve him papers, and the case VG brought against him, he spent hundreds of thousands on legal people, he had the very best in the US and in the UK. It will be the same this time.

How low they all have sunk. Will lessons be learnt.

TheAutumnCrow · 19/02/2026 10:23

Crikey, I’ve just clocked at least six new threads on Andrew’s arrest in Active.

It really is. I hope the CPS / police reach out to journalists, authors like Andrew Lownie who has so much information from interviews, in addition to the actual emails themselves.

The crime he’s being accused of (misconduct in public office) goes back to 1745, in common law. And one hopes they hire forensic accountants to follow the money trail which is quite old now.

Happy birthday, you arrogant fool!

I was thinking how the mighty have fallen.

Back in 2020, apparently, on his 60th birthday, the Union Jack was to be hoisted over government buildings, a birthday party at Buckingham Palace, and the Queen was to have him promoted to Admiral.

That didn’t happen because of Epstein’s arrest in 2019. This however is a way shittier birthday.

ascenda · 19/02/2026 11:13

Well it's true..... he's entitled alright -

To a free travel card and a State Pension from today.

Yes to this

And what is interesting is... I listened to a Lownie interview the other day and he talked about the huge amount he could not publish after legal advice. And it was all to do with bribery. He said it is all much much worse than he has been able to reveal.

Thewolffromthedoor89 · 19/02/2026 11:24

Thinking about these latest developments and the title of this thread, if AMW is charged then the next question is “why was this covered up, and by whom, for over a decade if the evidence was there?”

bluegreygreen · 19/02/2026 11:35

Thanks @TheAutumnCrow

I hope the police and CPS act appropriately, follow procedure as they would for any other person, charge AMW if there is sufficient evidence, and ensure a fair trial.

It is.

The fact that this has happened gives me hope in the future of our institutions and somehow more respect for the RF if that makes sense.
