It's not the flower sprinkles per se, though I am of the Judy Murray mindset and dislike unnecessary foliage on food just on principle.

It's Meghan's tendency to sprinkle on fecking everything. Sweet, savoury, liquid - nothing is safe from the sprinklage, even when it clearly adds nothing to the dish. Less is very much more.

Well, Pancake Day is coming up. Time to celebrate the traditional way with a packet of UPF powdered mix!

Oh well. I am the woman whose children would eat ANYTHING if I put edible glitter on it, so I’m obviously the wrong person to comment on flower sprinkles! 🤣

I cannot believe she’s trying to hawk jam and tea “cocktails” as a concept - she really must be desperate. All these new bundles that are suddenly getting released just smack of desperation as well. It really can’t be going well.

As PP said it’s that she’s been putting them on everything - the first time I saw them on her white iced donuts and they looked really pretty. But she put them over something like an omelette or scrambled eggs and it looked like adding pot purée - very odd dry texture to add into something creamy.

Do they taste sweet? Or do they taste just like a bit of dried floral plant? I love fresh edible flowers in salads but I can’t imagine the flower sprinkles are a particularly nice experience in your mouth. Is it just for the look?

Apparently if reviewers are to be believed, they taste of nothing and are dry , I think it’s ornamental only .

I’m quite fussy about food textures and can’t stand the thought of getting random dried bits in the middle of my food.

Can you imagine wasting good champagne or even cheap cava by topping up a mixture of jam and tea? Also I don’t understand - are you meant to plan ahead by making the tea and then chilling it to have at the ready? Or do you add chilled bubbly to warm tea/jam mix? I wouldn’t even do that to the bottle of Frexinet that languishes in the back bottom corner of our “pantry” having been won at the village fete.

Meanwhile, Invictus …

As stalwarts of this board will know, I have a deep seated interest in the Invictus Games and its Grift Quotient.

There is currently a gold medal winning Invictus athlete whom the Times has been following for a while. She may or may not be using Invictus as part of a grift. There are serious allegations being made in court, and it’s all negative PR for Invictus if she is judged to be a fake. The MoD certainly think she is.

And from the text:

Niazi Fetto KC, representing the ministry, said that O’Connell had shown “no remorse”, continued to compete in para-athletic events and received a guaranteed income under the armed forces compensation scheme on the basis of her arm injury, despite the court’s ruling.

Fetto said: “By doing so she deprives deserving para-athletes of success and associated financial and other benefits, and she maligns the reputations of veterans in general.”

The saga continues.

😮 , I’m shocked ( sort of!) , why is this not being reported on more? , maybe I’ve been sidetracked but this is the first I’m hearing about this.

That is horrible, though if she's been receiving military disability benefits, as the story suggests, I don't think Invictus can be held to be at fault.

Also annoying in that report is calling the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery 'a ceremonial unit' - they're an active unit of the army who can be called to go on tour like any other unit.

I think the real PR issue for Invictus here is that it’s the Ministry of Defence saying robustly that Invictus has been hoodwinked by a medal winning participant.

News outlets are too obsessed with reporting on whether or not Keir Starmer will be ousted and Epstein (see BBC News watch, their feedback programme, this morning). The former is especially notable for them trying to create a news story then reporting on an outcome that didn't happen. Meanwhile there are many, many other stories of interest being ignored. I'm not just referring to royals here, more generally.

That is really shocking! Surely she isn’t allowed to continue competing in Invictus games? The other athletes should boycott the games if she is.

Also this extract from the article:

“O’Connell filed her original compensation claim in 2022, claiming she fell from the horse because she was given boots two sizes too big.”

That just doesn’t make any sense at all. For starters you know the size of the boots before you even get on a horse, so if you felt that uncomfortable/unstable you wouldn’t even get on.

secondly it shouldn’t really be something that would cause you to fall unless you were a total novice - you balance through your seat and thighs primarily.
