The poor guy is scrambling to save face (and reputation) by claiming it was 'perfectly sewn', as if people don't have eyes !!!

"Mr Harbison said: 'Meghan wore a custom Quanta gown in champagne duchess satin with a black velvet trim at the neckline. No extra seaming: just clean and perfectly sewn.

'I thought it would be lovely with a soft silk velvet robe, and the proportions were an ode to Zelda Wynn Valdez, as she requested'."

Is he trying to discreetly blame Meghan ? 'as she requested' is a bit loaded.

He should have admitted it was a last minute adjustment, and not his usual standard of work, or something to that effect. He will always be known as the designer who has terrible finishings on his custom gowns.

ThePoshUns · 09/02/2026 18:50

Meghan always seems to bring the wrong type of publicity to those she ‘collaborates’ with.

AtIusvue · 09/02/2026 19:18

Meg actually requested a style that she in no way has the shape for!!! That’s insane. She has a small bust, wide back and thick/short waist. What planet was she on, thinking this was possible for her? Is she really that delusional?

I always thought she understood her shape and that’s why she goes for the clean/simple lines look, because she doesn’t naturally have a very feminine shape.

How embarrassing that it is reported in the press that the " Sussex Squad" are fighting an online campaign to rubbish claims that the Sundance Film Festival world premiere of Cookie Queens was not a sell out. The very acknowledgement that there are these people out there fighting with others.

I had never heard of this person and googled. I get it now - Meghan thinks she's a playboy bunny.

The hem is dreadful, the designer must be embarrassed, considering he was an unknown before and now his moment in the limelight is for a dress that is really badly put together.

He was mad to allow Meghan to wear one of his gowns .. of
course it'll be torn apart because people cannot abide her, and she dresses dreadfully, it’s incredibly unlikely a designer will be able to turn that around … especially when her frame doesn’t suit or fit the gown, and they’ve resorted to tacking/staples and hiding it under a weird coat train thing

Meghan is very good at dressing for her shape in casual clothes and usually looks good. For some reason she rarely gets it right in formal clothing. Maybe she's had less practise at that?

I agree, I would love to look as effortlessly casual as she does.

I think she chose the dress because she wanted to look like that, I mean I would as well. But she doesn't seem to understand that wanting and getting are not the same.

I can sympathise with her. Every time I try on a new dress i expect someone who's size 8 with smaller boobs to look back at me in the mirror. It doesn't matter how expensive the dress is, that miracle never happens!

garlicandsapphires · 10/02/2026 08:11

Everyone wanging on about her ‘thick’ waist and ‘broad’ back Confused
Would that I had such unappealing features!
There is so much to criticise them both for, that this picking apart is just not necessary.
It doesn’t happen to any other sleb, does it?

BigAnne · 10/02/2026 08:18

I don't think it matters that she's not the perfect shape for that dress. She looked in the mirror and liked what she saw. Body confidence and all that jazz.

It does actually. I've just read an article about Margot Robbie looking too mature for the new Wuthering Heights movie. That's just one example.

bluedancingtwiglet · 10/02/2026 08:31

Fashion sites etc regularly run articles on " who wore it best " or the " 10 best dresses at the Oscars". If you dress up and pose then it's what happens. Famous one from the past.

Treylime · 10/02/2026 08:33

That's not the same though. I haven't read the article but I assume it's about the fact that Margot Robbie is 35 and Cathy in WH is a teenager. Not criticising her looks just that she was miscast for the role.

How about Gwyneth then?

Have you never read the articles about Nicole Kidman’s face/ hair/ clothes / hands ?

Poor Rachel ward was recently criticised and torn apart for the crime of ….. ageing and not looking the same as she did in the thorn birds!! ( 20/30 years later!)

jeffgoldblum · 10/02/2026 09:29

In fact I can’t think of any women in the public eye who hasn’t had their looks , body or clothes criticised?! 🤔 and our own royals are continually called unattractive and horse faced! , I recall someone on here remarking that Camilla look like an aged leather handbag! 🤷‍♀️

NewAgeNewMe · 10/02/2026 11:34

It’s not right though is it? Misogyny pure and simple.

Sorry, do you want this thread to talk about other celebs fashion disasters?

We all have different body shapes and dress accordingly to suit it. On this occasion, Meg got it badly wrong.

Yes, she has a wide back, broad shoulders, thick waist and small bust. That’s not a criticism, that’s just facts. This type of dress does not suit that shape at all- you need curves and a small back.

She is also slim and has long limbs, so there are outfits that will work for her. She just chose not to wear one of those.

A picture speaks a thousand words! It can’t be offensive to MM as it’s her behaviour that has made this meme
