Kate's birthday video "Mother Nature"

FloridaCheese · 09/01/2026 13:30

The PR machine is pushing Catherine as being the Queen of Nature, so wholesome and pure, and ending the video with "Mother Nature" just seems so forced to me.

I'm not really sure why she would release a 90 second video of this nature. Anyone else?

Great. Mother Nature now so…
Your folks won’t shoot down any of mother natures beasts yeah? No mote hunting then?
I’ll shut up and go off to reflect on winter in my many acres of land.

Rubbish. Of course there are some people for whom getting outside is not possible, but for those people working, commuting, living busy lives, they have time off. They're on here talking about, for example, spending an afternoon on the sofa with their children watching films, or going shopping.

So they could find time, but choose not to. They could easily take a trip to a park to look at trees and birds. She talked about being in nature, not being in the countryside. You can be outside in nature in a huge city in the UK. Our cities and towns have parks.

Nothing Kate said is new or needs highlighting. This is a well known problem that’s been around for a long time. Please, do yourself the favour of reading up on it. It was self-concerned verbiage, a “safe” way for her to put herself out there. She’s done really well with the early years stuff, handled the press exceptionally well, does a great job charming world leaders etc. This nonsense is a waste of her and everyone’s time.

Maybe the shot of her casually dipping a ring worth more than most people's houses in a stream?

So you are angry that she is wearing her engagement ring?
were you angry when Diana wore it?
are you angry when other women wear expensive engagement rings?
very strange.

Gowlett · 09/01/2026 20:02

This is how the RF will engage with modern media going forward. Traditional media (newspapers, TV) will be a thing of the past very soon. Once KC is gone… This is the future.

I'm not sure that anyone else has worn a humungous ring to encourage us all in a video to embrace mother nature.
It's a first.

IF she is going to do this sort of thing... maybe have a think about the message you are giving out.

To be fair a lot of her early years stuff is fairly vacuous when you look into it. It's mostly saying how important early years are (which surely isn't a new concept?!). She's never really stuck her neck out by lobbying politicians (has she said anything about surestart centres being cut under austerity?). Although I'll admit I'm being a massive hypocrite here as if she was lobbying politicians I'd see that as a massive overstep.

I'll never know why she hasn't done something to do with young people and sport. It's clearly something that appeals to her, she could have got involved with the this girl can campaign, done some sort of sports based version of DofE (or events at royal palaces etc).

Indianrollerbird · 09/01/2026 20:07

Maybe she’s giving out a message to all the good natured posters who expressed their deep and sincere concern when she’s not wearing the engagement ring. She’s reassuring them. Bless her heart.

Some women like myself don’t take our “ humongous “ rings off at all !
some women like to cook wearing theirs on tv , it’s a personal choice and a very odd thing to be angry about.

User7565364 · 09/01/2026 20:09

It feels very bizarrely religious?!! Just replace nature with God and it sounds like a perfect piece of religious propaganda. Even the way they chose to use Mother Nature instead of just nature or earth, giving it a human deity form.

Obviously Kate is probably very religious and she's entitled to find comfort in that. But the entire video feels like she really wanted to express her views about God but the PR team decided to mask it as something more neutral so it resonates with the multicultural masses.

Why would you think I'm 'angry'?
Are you?

I am just making a comment, that's all. That's allowed last time I heard!

Very many times she doesn't wear it. I would've thought it would be sensible not to wear it for this video. That's all.
No anger here 🍷😊

She’s the president of Scouts. She’s done a number of events with Scouts promoting the outdoors and young people making the most of getting out and doing physical activities (including sport).

Good ! Perhaps pass that on to the other poster I was originally asking.
all women ( and I mean all!) should be able to wear their own engagement rings as they please without being criticised.

That's true about life in general isn't it? I don't have a beautiful home in the Hamptons but that doesn't stop me from appreciating other things that are out there especially when it is part of a campaign. Would you say that Meghan and Harry's participation in charitable themes are also short sighted because they live in a mansion? Do we only listen to people who live in cardboard boxes?

The arrogance in these types of posts blows my mind - there is no will to understand the grinding nature of poverty.

I mean - just go out in nature and watch your blood pressure drop.
Where - if in inner city somewhere Ville? How - most parents work 27/7 to keep a roof over heads. Most hands should not go into rivers, most outside of the walled estates are polluted.

Eat well and see obesity drop - be responsible! How in inner city somewhere Ville? A mother who cannot afford anything, and has to get young children up flights of stairs cannot also drag bags of healthy potatoes and carrots up. She also has to contend with the criminals who see her progeny as economic units to be exploited. I suppose she should not have children?

The MINORITY live well.

Approxinmately 30 % of British children live in poverty.

We need to really think about that - rich as we are.

The Duchess could do a LOT if she got serious for a second.

Wandering around one of the 800,000 acres of land that they own/control, opining about the value of this and that is not the way.

ElegantFowl · 09/01/2026 20:16

Eh? Why on earth would she be religious? Have I missed something?

giveyourselfapresent · 09/01/2026 20:17

Well, I think this harmless little video is a lot more pleasant than most of the people on this thread, anyway.

andIsaid · 09/01/2026 20:23

Rosamutabilis · 09/01/2026 19:27

Quite. I think there are a lot of that type on this thread. I bet it's a long time since they went for a simple walk and observed the trees, plants and wildlife.

Mind blowing arrogance.

jumpingthehighjump · 09/01/2026 20:25

I just think (my opinion only!) if I was doing this sort of video for worldwide recognition talking about engaging with nature and running my hand through a stream I would probably not wear a ring worth up to a million!

That's all. I would have a good think about how it looked.

andIsaid · 09/01/2026 20:27

Rosamutabilis · 09/01/2026 19:33

I bet if was some rich influencer on social media making a video about how lovely it is to go for a walk in the countryside many on this thread would be absolutely lapping it up and saying how great it was.

There are many on this thread who are vehemently anti-royal and therefore will always be critical, whatever the royals do.

How reductive of you.

Most on this thread see a tone deaf, expensive, self indulgent promo for the Queen in waiting.

They ignore at their peril.

johntorodesfatcheeks · 09/01/2026 20:29

andIsaid · 09/01/2026 20:23

Mind blowing arrogance.

Couldn’t agree more.
there are millions of people who would love to go for a walk and run their hands over a wheat field or a river and wax lyrical about feeling at one with nature whilst wearing four priceless rings but the pressure of work, money worries, family etc and real fucking life makes that impossible.

And BOOM.

This is where she could make a massive difference. She is good at sports and could really promote girls in sports, advantage of sports, money on sports etc.

She could also do a massive amount for British manufacturing and fashion. Like - why the heck do she and Camilla carry Chanel bags? Promote British FFS.

look at Queen Mary in where ever she is - massive push on domestic fashion always. Same with the Spanish.

She could do so much if she did what she is naturally inclined to.

Not sure ‘Mother Nature’ would like her husband heading off with a gun and blowing birds out of the sky, or killing deer…

Probably none too chuffed about the multiple 4x4s, private jets and helicopters needed anytime they and their security entourage go anywhere.

This.

oocooloo · 09/01/2026 20:39

Oy, Kate, would you mind my kids for an hour (or loan me one of your Norlanders) while I go running my hands through a stream please. I can't bring the blighters with me, they'd destroy that nature in a minute and would miss their ipads and get cranky. Thanks a million love.

Literally not angry at all, was just answering the question ‘how did she look rich’ by pointing out the fact she’s wearing a sapphire worth hundreds of thousands of pounds…
