Kate's birthday video "Mother Nature"

The PR machine is pushing Catherine as being the Queen of Nature, so wholesome and pure, and ending the video with "Mother Nature" just seems so forced to me.

I'm not really sure why she would release a 90 second video of this nature. Anyone else?

I find myself reflecting deeply

in peaceful nature

thankful for the simplicity of life and all it brings

such as no washing or ironing to do

my children's school uniforms and sports kits always sorted out for me

nutricious meals cooked by Sven (personal chef)

I have so much time to wander in my acres and get in touch with all the nature around me and thankful it is not a traffic jam or other such nature sucking horror

And no need to worry if I need further treatment or have a medical worry because I'll never be in a shitty NHS hospital being treated as if I'm an inconvenience.

That's it - choosing is the point. There are certain groups of people who put no value on it and are not involved in it. It's all about the latest big SUV or trendy sweatshirt that is " in". Possessions are all some people value.

Quite. I think there are a lot of that type on this thread. I bet it's a long time since they went for a simple walk and observed the trees, plants and wildlife.

redmangyfox · 09/01/2026 19:28

People who are taking this as a standalone video are not going to understand and so the comments will continue. Perhaps Mr Google might help comprehension.

MrsLizzieDarcy · 09/01/2026 19:28

I was diagnosed with cancer in my early 30s, when I had 3 children under 5. I've never been so aware of my own mortality and ever since, I've counted my blessings every day for just being here. Which is what it feels like Catherine is doing in this video, which is beautifully filmed. I walk my dogs rurally every day, we're blessed to live in the countryside and nothing makes me happier than watching the sunrise and listening to the birds singing. And just being aware of where I am.

Sometimes we all need to just stop whatever we're doing and take in the world around us, which feels like her message. She clearly has some sort of ongoing chronic condition that she's battling daily, and is recovering from major surgery on top of chemotherapy. I'm happy to give her a free pass on this.

She really needs to get a job.

This is her job. One day she will be Queen, and for the survival of the royal family, they have to stay in favour of the public. She has to be seen to be doing something, every now, and again, be visible.

Supersimkin7 · 09/01/2026 19:29

Getting out in nature is sensible advice.

But why does she want to look so rich? And play the victim card again?

AGreenWitch · 09/01/2026 19:29

@threesocksmorgan I agree it is bizarre.

Also, not a race to the bottom but when I finished chemo I went back to work and my life went like this ... get everyone up, get myself ready, go to work, come home, eat/chat with the kids, sit down for an hour (usually at 8pm), sleep and repeat.

Laughable that I would see daylight for half of the year let alone gamble through the woods in daylight.

redmangyfox · 09/01/2026 19:06

How is it self indulgent? She doesn't talk about her own life.

Wafting around a forest in tweeds , staring meaningfully into the middle distance is unbelievably self indulgent. Especially when you're doing it having had a team of stylists sort out your clothes/ hair/ make up and people following you with lighting and big foil boards angled to get the light just right.

That's sad that is all you took from that. 😢

Don't you think with everything going on in the world it's important to find time to be quiet and calm? Being in nature is proven to be beneficial for mental well-being, so in difficult times it's likely to be even more important.
We get enough of all the awful things happening from the news, why shouldn't she put out a video of our beautiful British countryside saying how good it feels to be in it?

Smh. Because that’s not possible for many people. They’re too busy dealing with cancer, or working, or commuting, or caring for aging parents, or doing all the things every poster in MN does. Or they live far from affordable access to the countryside. Or the countryside they do live by isn’t “healing”. Important to find time? Only someone with resources would say that. As I say, Marie Antoinette. And it’s worse as she’s put it on the World Wide Web. Newspapers don’t have a wide international readership. People in Ukraine will see this, a close British ally the leader of whom was hosted by Charles at sandringham at short notice at the government’s request. It’s self-indulgent twaddle that’s not fitting for a Queen-in-waiting. She’ll get away with it as she’s not in the throne yet. But at her age and with her years in the RF, I think she should do better.

threesocksmorgan · 09/01/2026 19:26

True
but why do we need a rich privileged person walking around, no doubt private land? Bizarre in the extreme.

I bet if was some rich influencer on social media making a video about how lovely it is to go for a walk in the countryside many on this thread would be absolutely lapping it up and saying how great it was.

There are many on this thread who are vehemently anti-royal and therefore will always be critical, whatever the royals do.

Supersimkin7 · 09/01/2026 19:34

She never had a job before she married William. Did a posh girl flit around Jigsaw for a bit, very part-time, but she’s got a history of avoiding work.

That level of worklessness is very unusual nowadays, esp for a woman. We’d have heard about any chronic health problems, so apart from cancer, so safe to rule them out.

It’s a shame because her position can do huge amounts of good to the country, but she’s not the right person for that job. She won’t deliver.

Correct - maybe Molly Mae or Stacey Solomon in Pickle Cottage.

catzrulz · 09/01/2026 19:38

It just reminded me of Love Actually, the hat and Keira Knightly vibes.
I was waiting on William to appear with an orchestra and slushy phrases on boards.

Thegala · 09/01/2026 19:39

Well, luckily for Catherine and the RF, she is extremely popular both at home and globally.

Lydia Millen does a lot of 'wafting around in tweed in her greenhouse/ stables/ countryside'. She gets a lot of stick for it too.

MuchTooTired · 09/01/2026 19:41

It’s an awful lot of nothingness, but I might not be smart enough to get it.

Rubbish. Of course there are some people for whom getting outside is not possible, but for those people working, commuting, living busy lives, they have time off. They're on here talking about, for example, spending an afternoon on the sofa with their children watching films, or going shopping.

So they could find time, but choose not to. They could easily take a trip to a park to look at trees and birds. She talked about being in nature, not being in the countryside. You can be outside in nature in a huge city in the UK. Our cities and towns have parks.

Maybe the shot of her casually dipping a ring worth more than most people's houses in a stream?

I wasn't aware that taxpayer money funded Molly Mae or Stacey Solomon?

Ladyymuck · 09/01/2026 19:51

If I hadn’t seen it on the news I don’t think I would’ve believed it. I tuned in at the hand in the river. It just feels so out of touch.

jumpingthehighjump · 09/01/2026 19:52

Rosamutabilis · 09/01/2026 19:20

That simply isn't true. You don't have to live in or even visit a stately home to walk in nature. You can find trees, birds, wildlife in a park or in a field. There are numerous places to be in nature whether you live in a city or the countryside. That's the point. Nature is easily available to all if you choose.

I really don't agree with you.
Some footage I watched with a young black guy with 2 kids during covid who lived in a highrise (wife died) and he literally had nowhere to go like this.
I have never forgotten him. He worked all the hours god sends and worked so hard to give his kids some sort of life. He had nowhere to go to smell the roses. I often wonder how he is coping.

It's so easy to say, just get out there.

why shouldn't she put out a video of our beautiful British countryside saying how good it feels to be in it?

Some people just do not have that opportunity.

jumpingthehighjump · 09/01/2026 19:57

No. Absolutely not. There are people out there who really struggle and those that do not recognise that need to give their heads a wobble.
