Kate's birthday video "Mother Nature"

FloridaCheese · 09/01/2026 13:30

The PR machine is pushing Catherine as being the Queen of Nature, so wholesome and pure, and ending the video with "Mother Nature" just seems so forced to me.

I'm not really sure why she would release a 90 second video of this nature. Anyone else?

Meaningless tripe 🤮

I’ve got nothing against the lass, but this feels forced and ill-timed

Exactly my thought when I saw what she’d done.

You seem to have something of a fixation with @jeffgoldblum. It doesn’t go unnoticed.

jumpingthehighjump · 10/01/2026 18:47

Why is this thread disgusting when there are people on here (like me) saying they felt the video was crass and not appropriate, and people like me are not speculating about her cancer diagnosis or anything like that. Not insulting her, nothing.
Just saying I felt the video was too much and there will be a lot of people who really do not have time or access to green places and whose lives are all about holding it together from one day to the next.
For me, being able to express that is not disgusting.

Please do not contact mnhq and ask for this thread to be pulled.

APintofBitterPleaseLandlord · 10/01/2026 18:48

@Jbum why are you bringing Meghan up?
What is your view on the video?

LadyKenya · 10/01/2026 18:52

When I said about Meghan being dragged into this thread, one poster took it upon herself to accuse me of behaving like the thread police. I just ignored their pathetic comment. This thread is about Catherine, and her latest video. Meghan seems to live rent free in some posters head, who won't miss any opportunity to be unpleasant about her.

Quite - the posts questioning if Catherine did/didn't have cancer aren't nice, but the vast majority of posts are people saying if they did/didn't like the video, discussing the image it's trying to put across, if it makes her appear out of touch, what might have worked better etc. It's not disgusting to have a negative opinion of a member of the royal family/something they've chosen to put out to the public. Plenty of posters have mentioned that they like her/like the royals but don't like the video. Clearly it's not necessarily landed well with everyone.

Maybe HQ should rename it the royal family fan board as the regulars don't welcome any criticism of the firm (unless you want to put the boot in on Meghan and Harry, then the more the merrier!).

oocooloo · 10/01/2026 19:00

Some are far far too invested in a person (K) whom they will never meet, see or engage with face to face. Her image is PRd to within an inch of its life but in this video I think they got it wrong. Not relateable and a bit patronising IMV.

Or in other words, totally forgettable and wildly unnecessary right now. I certainly don't need to be told that running my hand through a babbling brook with the Winter sun glacially peeping through the bare branches of leaves behind me will make me feel good. I know that, but many are not in a position to do it, through time, money, or health constraints.

Time to get an ordinary level headed person on the PR team stat! But that would spoil the sorcery of the image one is trying to project wouldn't it?

mathanxiety · 10/01/2026 19:01

I think she's jumped the shark.

andIsaid · 10/01/2026 17:59

A little heavy handed on the personal attacks there @redmangyfox .

Clearly, you have an appetite for a fight.

I don't.

So, this is my last answer to you.

You yourself have shown what kind of person you are. It stands for all to see.

There is no fight here and Catherine had cancer. You for some reason deem this not to be true.

Quite easily?

Because criticism of Kate is too much for some Royalists. Especially speculation about her cancer diagnosis (which I don't think should happen on this thread, it's just about the video)

Absolutely 100 per cent spot on!

I believe that Catherine had a horrendous experience with cancer, which is dreadful at any age, but particularly so when you have young children.

And I know from family experience that preventative treatment can still involve quite significant surgery. And a long recovery.

However, I fully stand by my post that this video was ill conceived and tone deaf at a time when the NHS is collapsing and many people are struggling financially.

I also don’t think that RF members are particularly well qualified to give advice to an ordinary person about how to live or what to do. I think it’s beyond their remit. Perhaps with an exception for the monarch on Christmas day in their role as Head of the C of E. Otherwise, I think they should let their actions do the talking.

People can report or not as they wish, it’s MNHQ decision if the entire thread is pulled surely?

Bit of an odd thing to put at the bottom of a post 🤷‍♀️ .

BigWillyLittleTodger · 10/01/2026 19:32

Yes very weird asking for a thread not to be reported, never come across that before. Anyway is up to every individual poster if they want to report a thread or not.

I don't know why you find it odd.
Some posters would love this thread to be pulled.

I want to be able to express an opinion about yet another video about the seasons Kate has put out. That's all.
I am hoping Kate & William will stop this video stuff they seem to be leaning towards. I don't want it to become the norm when William takes the throne.

No I don't, I've responded to other people's comments not just theirs. Seems like you are monitoring my posts and keeping a tally 🤔 if thats what you find entertaining crack on lol

I’m sure they would but that’s not your call, mine or any other poster here which was why I thought that particular sentence in your post was odd (unless of course you had concerns a poster on here has the ear of MNHQ, which is unlikely).

No one is stopping you from expressing an opinion as long as it’s within guidelines.

APintofBitterPleaseLandlord · 10/01/2026 18:48

@Jbum why are you bringing Meghan up?
What is your view on the video?

Only bringing it up in specific context of some posters who criticise her for her videos but then defending Catherine's.

My thoughts echo alot of whats already been said, the video itself is beautifully shot but I find the world salad cringey spoke in a way thay makes me feel she is trying to be the female version of David Attenborough.

Pretty inoffensive video imo - nothing to get worked up about.

MrsLeonFarrell · 10/01/2026 21:18

Jbum · 10/01/2026 18:41

I think the Mother's Day furore was so awful that both William and Catherine decided that they would use social media the way they want to since nothing they do will ever please everyone. They don't release photos to the press anymore for birthdays, as an example, they just put them on Instagram

Then you should agree then that is the same with Meghan, who puts out content on her Instagram and it wont please everyone. She is using her Instagram the wat she wants to wouldn't you agree? But you still feel the need to criticise her for her choices about what she wants to say and how she says it...💁‍♀️

I'm not sure what point you are trying to make. I've made posts complimenting and criticising aspects of royal and royal adjacent Instagram posts. They can post what they want and i can express opinions about what they post.
