Massively looking forward to this, they should have started with romcom adaptations over anything else. Meet me at the Lake will be released first I reckon. PS, I loved Meghan Markles wine 😀

Retired solicitor. I usually used to advise to settle a civil claim, if I wasn’t sure of the merits of a case, especially on a costs basis.

Would I have advised TLQ to get Andrew to settle a claim, brought in another jurisdiction? Absolutely and would probably be open to claims of negligence if I hadn’t done so.

Mylovelygreendress · 19/12/2025 08:14

ThePoshUns · 19/12/2025 07:22

I don’t recall any one saying TLQ was right in paying off VG, nor do I recall any posters slagging off Doria and certainly not supporting what Carol Malone said on air. Just more 🥨 to defend their idols.

Edited

I have been on the RF threads for a long time and honestly can’t remember anyone saying the Queen was “ amazing and faultless” to pay off VG .
Lots of people understand why someone would try to help their child but that’s different.

There are thousands of posts about the subject, I wouldn’t expect you to remember them all, but sometimes things stick in your head. I remember a thread discussing the queen paying off Andrew’s victim and someone said she was amazing and faultless or maybe without fault, something like that. I remember because the poster who said it was arguing on another thread with me and others and ended up calling posters bitches. I advanced search them to see if they were just a troll but they were someone who posted a lot and advanced search revealed she was defending Andrew and the Queen for paying off the woman he raped. It was on those threads that I saw others also defending the Queen for paying off the victim.

Edited, It sticks with me because after the thread where I was called a bitch on the RF board, I stopped posting on the board for along time. Now I only post occassionally, like on this one because I like the book.

And yet some posters claim that AMW is never discussed and that all vitriol is reserved for H and M.
Interesting .

I’ve seen some threads discussing Andrew specifically. Threads can be 1000 posts long so that’s thousands of posts. There are probably more. I’d say the majority of the threads on this board are about Meghan and Harry. I don’t think anyone could seriously say there are anywhere near as many threads specifically made to discuss Andrew as there are Meghan and Harry. The people that dislike Meghan and Harry have been known to say that they don’t discuss Andrew as much because everyone agrees he’s a shit. Although we know that not everyone agrees with that because unfortunately some deluded people are Andrew apologists, but thats another thread.

But back to my point, which was that some people do think the queen did the right thing by paying off the woman who was raped by her son.

Justdancevance · 19/12/2025 10:50

Every lawyer and advisor would have told the Queen to settle.

i find it hard to handle the difference between legally and morally right really hard. My husband is much more balanced than me.

A crazy lady claimed I knocked her down when reversing slowly out of a parking spot. She was a crazy lady. She lived near my work but wandered around saying all kinds, I even tried to help her once or twice when she said she was locked out by trying to help her contact her son etx. The case dragged on for years but my insurance settled at the court steps. I was so angry they took the opportunity to speak away from me, but they decided it was best.

I worked for a property company so we were always suing and being sued (sometimes for some very crazy stuff) but sometimes it was better and easier to write cheques.

That doesn’t mean I agree with the Queen, but I understand she was given legal advice and took it

As an aside I’d love to know what legal advice Harry has been getting from David Sherborne.

If you are at the stage where you are advance searching a poster and stalking them and comparing their posts I would suggest that you are maybe too involved in something which is really just social media. It doesn't sound good for your mental health. You can never tell who anyone is on here or whether they are telling the truth or not.

Justdancevance · 19/12/2025 10:56

While Kate and William have been getting stick, they do seem to love their dogs, their brother is so fantastic with his dogs.

Meghan does seem to love her dogs too (I know she rehomed one, but some dogs struggle in different environments )

Harry I’m not so sure is an animal lover.

Horses have tried in his care. I would say ‘as the spare’ he probably felt he had more to prove so rode the horses harder, took the less
guaranteed shots’ and shot the birds illegally

if I had a choice of being a grouse being shot on St Stephen’s Day or an American factory chicken living in my own filth and pumped full of antibiotics, I’d chose the former

If I had the time I’d look through post histories and assess the energy people have for criticising H&M compared to folks doing actual illegal things lol cash for honours etc

Never forget that Andrew kept his military titles a whole year longer than Harry did. Only with embarrassing intervention from a petition where his finally taken. Only lost his police protection and house recently. Must be nice.

I say the same to you- you seem to have developed an unhealthy obsession with stalking others here on MN. It's really not good for your wellbeing.

I’ve seen this trotted out before. When someone seems to be getting more and more worked up and eventually calls posters bitches, I will search their usernames to see if they have form, if they’re just a troll or if they’re usually a more normal poster. Using advanced search isn’t stalking, it is a function provided by mumsnet that they support the use of when used appropriately.

I think any mental health issues are more likely to be with the person who can’t communicate appropriately on a forum and called posters bitches, resulting in many posts of theirs being deleted and eventually mumsnet deciding to take down the thread.

Mumsnet will be able to see that I have been here for years and communicate in an appropriate way, remaining within talk guidelines, unlike the poster I mentioned. People do like to deflect though.

cockandbullstories · 19/12/2025 11:23

I've never seen a post on here where someone has called someone a bitch - did it happen and was then removed by MN?

cockandbullstories · 19/12/2025 11:23

Happy to be shown one courtesy of your advance searching .

Wait - you are saying you are both as bad as each other?

No, not in the slightest. Most people on the thread were reasonable although there were disagreements. One poster seemed to get very frustrated that other posters were not agreeing with her regarding Prince Philip and ended up calling posters bitches, despite all of the posters posts being reasonable. Mumsnet deleted a quite few of her posts and other people’s posts that agreed with her that didn’t stay within talk guidelines. Then mumsnet posted a reminder about talk guidelines and then deleted the thread a while later. At no point were any of my posts, or any of the posters who also disagreed deleted, until the whole thread was deleted. Mumsnet deleted it with a message saying something about it having run its cause.

I’m another who struggled as a solicitor with the moral and legal side of things.

I get why the Queen settled, as I said upthread that’s what I’d have advised, but I find it morally wrong at the same time. I’m glad I no longer practice!

I’d ask MN to add the word allegedly raped, as AMW has not been found guilty in a court of law. And unfortunately never likely to come before a court. It could just get MN in trouble by leaving out allegedly.

A post where you were called a bitch.

? The whole thread got deleted, as I’ve already said. The thread talked about Prince Philip and his past racism. The poster felt that as he was older, he should be excused for his comments and didn’t like it when other posters didn’t agree with her. It was a busy thread so others should remember it.

You could enquire about it to mumsnet if you want further information and confirmation that the poster called others bitches. She actually made some half hearted apology before the thread was taken down. The username began with R and was a 4 word username.

I won’t be doing that. If mumsnet are worried about getting in trouble, they should moderate the board proactively, I’d welcome that.
