Massively looking forward to this, they should have started with romcom adaptations over anything else. Meet me at the Lake will be released first I reckon. PS, I loved Meghan Markles wine 😀

It’s going to be a gush fest for the lead actress (assuming MM), littered with jabs at the British / RF, woe is me plastered all over it and she gets her ‘Prince’ in the end 🙄 … if anything else she’s ever been in charge of is anything to go by … massive flop

Netflix never officially announced it and their contract with the Sussexes is over.

It isn't going to happen. I'd bet money on it.

Oh come on 🥴

I remember reading that they signed a new deal a few months ago.

Come on what?

It's two and a half years since the supposed 'Meet me by the Lake' production was talked about. Since then no cast list, no IMDB entry, no NF announcement, no nothing. And it's not as if 'Archewell Productions' is busy with other projects. It's clear as day it isn't going to happen.

Things move fast in the entertainment business. You don't need the best part of 3 years to get a project off the ground.

I do agree that it is slow moving but I’ve seen shows take four/five years to produce so 🤷🏽‍♀️

Read beyond the headline.

It's a 'first look deal'. All it means that in the unlikely event that the Sussexes come up with some great new idea, NF have the option of buying it. But they have no obligation to them. Calling it a 'deal' is basically a face saving exercise.

I strongly strongly disagree. But time will tell all.

It's not 'slow moving'. It's not moving at all. There has been zero 'movement' since we first heard of it over two years ago. It may take 5 years to produce an epic film, but not a basic rom com adaptation.

And to repeat, NF have never confirmed the existence of this project. Because it doesn't exist.

I know for sure that it’s been spoken of as in development. Bit of a stretch to say that Netflix never confirmed its existence.

I guess we’ll see. I’m not waiting for them to fail like some on here seem to be, picking faults with everything they say or do. I find that quite odd.

I just like the book so I hope the film gets made and I hope it’s good.

So can you link to the official announcement?

"In development" means nothing.

It’s the most fascinating thing, the way some speak in such absolutes. I can’t wait to see the adaptation.

Resources are poured into “in development” projects, it does not mean nothing.

If 'resources are being poured' into this project, there must be some official record after two and a half years.

I think it just shows how for some, there is more to their dislike of Meghan and Harry than they claim. Meghan and Harry producing a film should be quite harmless, yet posters are still here to pick faults. For me, this is why I don’t listen to all the Meghan and Harry stuff on here. When posters pick on everything they do, even stuff like this, it invalidates everything they say about Meghan and Harry, because it shows that literally everything they do will be wrong. They’re not reasonable posters, they’re just posters who can’t stand Meghan and Harry.

Right, for a long time, the issue was that Harry and Meghan produced nothing - now that they seem to be gaining a bit of momentum and announcing new projects, the goal post has changed.

I don't understand what they would do ? Producers? They don't have any successful experience in this ?

TheAutumnCrow · 17/12/2025 21:15

Well I personally want to see them star in their own film after their displaying their acting chops recently and yet I’m being poo-pooed by the OP so I just can’t win can I?

That’s my thought. You can’t just decide two people are directors when they have never directed anything. It’s an utter farce.

Producers can wear many hats - financing, bringing ip to streaming companies etc they choose the level of involvement they are comfortable with.

In Hollywood, anything goes. It’s why you see actors with exec producer credits, investors with producer credits etc

I wonder if this the life they envisioned when they flounced off 6 yeas ago ? Selling pancake mix , rent a Prince and now “ producing” a film .

It’s called making a living, and with all the soliciting the royals have been exposed and recently investigated for, I have to laugh. Bags of cash indeed.

Directors are very different to producers. They’re not directing the film, they’re producing it. The producers just do a lot of organising, I see it as similar to being a project manager.
