Thought it might be nice to have one lighthearted thread in the topic!

Feel free to update with any as they are released.

Is that a Christmas card? Not festive at all! The black and white is dour, they both look miserable and that chair looks really uncomfortable.

Sad boys. 1992. Parents up to their ears in divorce?

Those pictures with Diana would keep people who psychoanalyse from photographs in work for YEARS!

Could it simply be she looked at a stack taken over the year or from the Xmas photoshoot & picked one where she looked her very best (?) As she saw it. Forget all else.

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh have a card complete with helpful descriptions of the photos!

Lovely & unpretentious but no children?

Possible I suppose. But unlikely IMHO. Diana was nothing if not strategic.

The 'children' are adults now. Maybe they didn't want to be featured?

True but a festive family shot is nice. Maybe, as you say, they opted out. I still think
of them as being young, time flies.

That was the annus horribilis if I'm not mistaken.

Do their children undertake any official duties? I don't think so ? It's not like they Wales children who are direct heirs.

True, it’s effectively professional, sent to charities etc. I wonder if the Royals have informal cards sent only between selves & very close friends too (?) We’d not see if so. Why not?

At least William had a chair . Poor Spare could only stand in envy .

To be fair Harry often got the chair and William had to stand

James has only turned 18 last week and has always appeared quite shy, maybe that is why? Louise seems to have a growing public profile, and appears at ease with the public eye.

I like the card, Sophie and Edward seem quite unstuffy and fairly relaxed (especially compared to others of his generation).

I think that the age gap of 16 years between Charles and Edward makes it feel like they belong to different generations.

IMHO Charles has always appeared older than he is - possibly because he was brought up by his grandmother in his early years and had a very sheltered life. Charles always appears much more elderly than Kate's father, Michael Middleton, even though they are essentially the same age.

Well they are of different generations. Confused Charles was born late 1940s, and Edward in the mid 1960s. I have 3 cousins born between 1950 and 1953, and I was born late 1960s. I have zero in common with them, even though they are 'only' 14 to 17 years older than me.

I'm GenZ, and they're Babyboomers. They're in their mid 70s now, and I'm in my late 50s. I have far more in common with people in their 40s than I do with them...

They are of an age to be out and about independently, it would be understandable if they don't want to be too widely recognisable

I like that the Edinburgh’s “children” aren’t on the card. Glad it wasn’t a three line whip as I suspect it is in some other cases!

It must be weird to be the people in the background of Harry and Meghan's official card.

Oh it’s wonderful, such a lovely piece of music, had never heard of the composer, Erland Cooper, a Scottish composer who wrote the piece for his own mother.💗

They have a lovely mother daughter bond, you can just tell how very close they are. It must have been fun for both of them learning and practicing, Catherine looked rightly proud of Charlotte.

lickingfingertastingfood · 24/12/2025 23:40

Charlotte looks more confident than Catherine ! ☺️

Is that Diana's ring Catherine is wearing ? I never realised it was so big !
