So Meghan lost her fathers number but is ringing round hospitals and will send a handwritten note, as per Sussex sources speaking through the Sun, the Telegraph and the Times.

I mean I have no idea, how it works with PR for very famous people, but surely there are scenarios they prep for?

Her dad is in his 80s, severely obese and has suffered ill health for years. You would think, there would be protocol in what to do should the worst happen.

That would include having up to date contact info. This isn’t something Meg would need to have/get involved with if she’s estranged, but surely ‘The Office of the DDOS’ would. Then engage in their set plan- whether that’s a public statement that this is a private affair or that contact has been made through the proper channels.

Whatever this is, it isn’t professional-it’s complete chaos.

Ta da

She could start a trend for bananagrams. When you're really just too busy and important to get in touch by other means. And so good for the environment. So green.

Am I right in saying that someone actually flew over from the US to deliver the letter ?

If it went via the embassy I would assume it went in a diplomatic bag.

I just looked up the US State dpt site, and they are accompanied. Staff or courier, not posted.

And as an aside what a waste of the Embassy’s time and money.

IMHO, the USA should be reimbursed for any embassy expenses over and above the services that any other US citizen who is sick abroad would receive.

I wouldn't be wanting to deal too much with the American Embassy at the moment, I wouldn't want to risk involving Trump.

I agree. That is why I think H&M should proactively reimburse...to prevent this issue from snowballing.

But then again, if H&M actually thought ahead, they would not have been in this situation to begin with!

I looked up the US consular service site. It says this :

"Foreign Service officers are generally prohibited by Federal regulations (22 CFR 92.85) from serving process on behalf of private litigants or appointing others to do so, state law notwithstanding."

I can't find if they will deliver private letters though. But logic would suggest no, in case the private letter is a notice being served.

It’s quite astonishing that they were able to get the US embassy to do that for them. It just shows the level of privilege and entitlement they still have, despite not being working royals anymore.

Agree. Imagine you or I popping into the foreign office and asking them to deliver a letter to a relative in the Philippines.

That it happened in this case suggests a high level instruction being given.

It will be the same argument that the Police here keep making. It isn't possible or a good precedent to set to allow wealthy people to purchase their services.

Not entirely sure. I’ve not seen that on the celeb threads, might be different on the influencer threads though. Think those ones get bad.

It’s just no holds barred, with the only moderation being no hateful/illegal rhetoric allowed.

But at least there’s no buns fights between posters. Everyone is very nice and supportive of each other….theres just no mercy for who ever the thread is about.

I posted a very mildly positive post about Meghan on a tattle H&M thread in the past, and it was deleted, with a warning.

No wonder there are no bunfights!

I’ve had a look at the Royal Family threads on tattle which are separate from the H&M threads and they seem somewhat better. People seem to be able to disagree on those threads.

AutumnCrown · 15/12/2025 05:35

kirinm · 14/12/2025 12:57

The people on this thread are so desperate to attack her for anything that they seem willing to ignore any morals they probably have in real life.

Are you getting paid for this stuff?

lickingfingertastingfood · 15/12/2025 12:22

Why are these things always so elevated with the Sussexes?

WTAF is wrong with that woman? Isn’t it enough that it was hand delivered by an embassy official? Why put an elderly ill man lying in a hospital bed through that? Some humanitarian she is.

Jaffyyy · 15/12/2025 12:55

It’s so transparent. Every action and detail of execution is 100% self interest for MM - attempting to enhance her collapsed reputation - none of this is about compassion or sensitivity or care for their ‘relationship’. She has bluntly told him on the world stage with video, Embassy and global media briefing that he will never see her again. I expect he feels deeply humiliated by her actions over the past few days. Her silence would have been preferable to this circus she has created.

However no matter how clever she thinks she is by deploying this recent elaborate publicity stunt to shut the whole thing down and take back control of the narrative - this will backfire on her. No one will buy the soulful, compassionate, philanthropist delusional grift she has been trying to peddle for years.

Jbum · 15/12/2025 13:00

Maybe if the media had reported things after fact checking instead of making out she hadn't been in touch and then people on sm platforms banging on about how awful she is for not even contacting her father she wouldn't feel the need to make a big song and dance of it all.

One minute you are saying how awful she is for not contacting him, next its reported she has and now your saying awful she is for doing it and how its been done quietly ignoring the fact that we have journalists who created this drama in the first place maybe if we had proper journalists who fact checked their information before writing articles we would have better quality reporting but this is the DM, and they love their click bait articles to generate money

Jaffyyy · 15/12/2025 13:03

So are you saying that MM is a puppet of the media?

I understood that MM’s side have been directly briefing their preferred media throughout?

bluegreygreen · 15/12/2025 14:26

Can you reference these articles that were incorrect at the time of writing?

I understood that MM’s side have been directly briefing their preferred media throughout?

Yes, I think both sides have been doing so.

wordler · 15/12/2025 17:12

From a PR perspective Meghan and her team shouldn’t be fumbling as badly as they are with the news about her father.

It’s a very predictable scenario - there was always going to be some issue with him that would make for gossip worthy news.

They should have had a strategy and strong copy prepared and ready to go.

All this bizarre - emails going to a defunct address, losing phone numbers, messages going through the embassy, phoning around hospitals to see where he is.

At a bare minimum a ‘this is a private family matter and we won’t be commenting publicly’ would have at least sounded dignified.

It’s trying to be too controlling and trying to avoid any negative criticism that backfires.

Some quarters are always going to criticize you - you can’t avoid it but clapping back to every little thing makes it worse.

Agree totally - but that's been the Sussexes' problem all along, hasn't it?

They just haven't worked out that 'clapping back' simply puts more information out there, whereas ignoring things starves the story of fuel.

It’s the delusion and grandiosity that they can control a hugely fragmented global media and social media system with lies and spin in order to magic up a reputation of compassion and integrity that doesn’t exist just to flog jam / pancakes / wine to make $$$$$.

PH said that his father had warned him that trying to single handedly tackle the tabloid media was wrong headed - and that’s from an institution with decades of experience and interaction. But no - H&M know better!

What a circus.

Jbum · 15/12/2025 17:50

They only clapped back cos of the awful comments and article about her not contacting her Dad. Go look at the Thomss Markle is ill thread and all the early comments about how bad it is she hasnt and she should...then we hear that she had been trying to and that the journalist who wrote the article didnt even check if she had.

As I said before from what I see here on this board...damned if she didnt and damned when she did.

I am fairly confident that the resources at M’s disposal would have ensured that TM was quickly tracked down . The fact that he had the name of the hospital on his gown was a bit of a giveaway!

You are spot on and every single session like this should act as a warning bell to anyone who may get involved with them. If you lie down with dogs then you may catch fleas. Look at the numbers of people who have ended up having their names plastered across the media in a less than flattering association with them.

Mylovelygreendress · 15/12/2025 18:53

Does anyone else think M is hoping that her Dad releases the letter ?

But that’s exactly my point - there is always going to be some criticism which is why a good PR strategist will tell you to not fan the flames of the drama by overreacting.
