Here's a summary for you - it's full of British traditions like cracker pulling which she explains 🙄 , how to decorate a tree with lights and wearing matching pyjamas with her friends. Harry appears for the last 5 mins.

Ah Meghan. Never has anyone used so many words to say less than feck all.

And that’s valid. But as you said, you wouldn’t necessarily put it like that, and that’s why people find it cringe, awkward and amusing enough to comment upon.

That may be your issue with it, but others seem to be saying she has no right to talk about their tree encapsulating their family story due to cutting off her father and them not having much contact with his family etc. That is incorrect as my own situation shows.

Leo800 · 03/12/2025 14:57

God it looks awful. The Telegraph review is scathing.

Just as an aside, if you are not white, wearing 'nude' tights looks ridiculous. That was the point. It was a stupid rule. Same with the LQ's other arbitrary rules that she applied to the women of the family. Maybe she should have been more concerned about other behaviours. Like use of prostitutes and inviting spies and paedophiles to her house.

i’d have assumed that Meghan with the resources she had would have sourced tights that matched her skin tone - nude shouldn’t mean default white skin nude.

Companies are finally starting to realize this with the availability of different skin toned bandaids, crayons etc.

Christmas crackers aren't a thing outside of Britain. They need explaining.

We had crackers at times as a child in South Africa (80s & 90s) so they are definitely a thing outside the UK. Apparently so in many other Commonwealth countries too.

Leo800 · 03/12/2025 15:09

That review from The Times is hilarious. Poor Meghan.

She was saying she want allowed to wear them though. I don't know if that's the truth or a misinterpretation but that's the basis of the argument.

That’s a fair comment for your circumstances, and probably for a lot of people who have complicated relationships with their families.

That being said, I think many of the people saying she “shouldn’t be allowed” are reacting to the way she handled her estrangements. Most people don’t go on Oprah to air out their family drama for all to see and then publish a tell all book dragging everyone involved. That’s where the disconnect is.

People generally view it as poor taste to publicly slate your family, distance yourself from them completely, and then turn around and use those very memories to sell an idyllic, picture perfect Christmas narrative for profit. It’s the execution, not necessarily the feelings, that rubs people the wrong way.

ShamedBySiri · 03/12/2025 15:31

Sorry if it’s already been mentioned but as I won’t be watching I just pick up the odd clip in X.
This is properly hilarious. Her irritation that Kelly’s wreath was complimented by the crew leading her to make a jibe “just shows you don’t need to be an expert”.

She looks so put out too.

She really is the gift that keeps on giving.

She was not impressed that Kelly’s wreath got a compliment from the Netflix crew 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Oh I was told that by family members. Apparently I should have kept the family secrets and had some respect. It’s funny really as they didn’t show me any respect when they did what they did, but then they expected some sort of loyalty. I did not keep quiet, and had they been public figures, I’d have told the world for free, never mind if I could have made money from it. Bad people generally want things all hushed up ime.

I’ve learnt not to judge other people’s family situations due to my own being complicated.

People here get rubbed up the wrong way even when it’s something insignificant Meghan does. When people don’t like someone, they see bad in everything and make more of things. Thats what has happened here about Meghan so the stuff she may actually have done badly/wrong, gets lost amongst all the dislike and mocking of the insignificant things.

The Telegraph have already reviewed it!

1/5

‘Meghan’s Christmas special is quite mad and a little sad

Meghan prepares for the festive season with her usual manic intensity – and finally lets dear old Harry out of the pantry’

Ouch! But it's a funny review.

lifeisgoodrightnow · 03/12/2025 15:42

But again, sharing your story privately with family or friends isn’t the same as stepping onto a global stage and airing every bit of dirty laundry, is it? You also haven’t monetised your estrangement and then turned around to profit from the very family memories connected to the people you publicly criticised. The circumstances are very different.

Purplebunnie · 03/12/2025 15:46

BemusedAmerican · 03/12/2025 10:41

Is she selling Christmas crackers? I have never seen them here in the US. I also have strong food associations for Christmas. I definitely remember foods that I've made or eaten for the holidays, as do many friends and acquaintances.

The comments to the article are hilarious. One person suggested that Omid Scobie in a tiara and wand was her tree topper 😂.

She could make a packet if she sold Christmas crackers in America and also our other weird traditions like mince pies, Christmas pudding. Not our Christmas cake as I believe Americans don't like fruit cake

lifeisgoodrightnow · 03/12/2025 15:47

Nosleepforthismum · 03/12/2025 13:37

I just watched it while sorting out the laundry and I enjoyed it. It’s improved on the first series for sure and I actually would have enjoyed more Christmas episodes. It’s got the same vibe of a cheesy Christmas film.

Completely agree. Well put. I’d watch a season of the Christmas stuff for sure. I’d probably even watch a thanksgiving one.

Well, clearly they do — otherwise journalists wouldn’t be writing about it, newspapers wouldn’t be publishing it, readers wouldn’t be reading it, and we all wouldn’t be here talking about it, would we? 🤣

Honestly I suspect half of these ‘protocol’ issues are completely made up by the Royal reporters on a slow news day.

But as far as I remember the ‘issue’ was the Queen liked the women to wear tights (nude discrete ones not fishnets obvs) because it was seen as more ladylike - a hold over from her era.

Even before Meghan though I’d seen Sophie and Kate with bare legs at events in the summer so it obviously wasn’t a hard and fast rule.

Maybe Meghan didn’t like the idea of tights at all which is fair enough. But if she wanted to do it she didn’t have to wear unsuitable ones for her skin tone - she could definitely have sourced ‘nudes’ that suited her.

jumpingthehighjump · 03/12/2025 15:57

I think if it as free advertising for Meghan's NF Christmas show as posters will tune in to hate it or wonder what all the fuss is about
Win win for her!
