Here's a summary for you - it's full of British traditions like cracker pulling which she explains 🙄 , how to decorate a tree with lights and wearing matching pyjamas with her friends. Harry appears for the last 5 mins.

I remember Kirsty having some programme about making everything yourself (Christmas decor etc). I doubt anyone really did that, seemed like a lot of faff and I doubt Kirsty did it when the cameras were off. There’s been so many lifestyle programmes, they’re more background for me, I’ve never carried out any of the suggestions from any of them.

I think these programmes are just to watch and pretend that is how Christmas should be and be entertained for an hour or two.

And up.early to do so 😂

Early? Guess you don't work then😂

CatHairEveryWhereNow · 03/12/2025 12:15

I worked for a US company in 20s and we had a big US boss guy over and was surpised to learn crackers weren't a thing in US.

We haven't really bothered with crackers for years - no one wanted to wear the hats and they seemed very expensive for what they were.

It's just a cultural difference that can be nicely packaged and sold for christmas.

I keep reading on here we have no culture bar Sunday lunch in UK - but found I think this guy had some interesting ideas about British culture which as a Brit hadn't really thought about much - though not sure I agree with everything - we don't do the kings speach but some of the Christmas day was on point for us which was surprising that we do have a pattern from our own childhoods.

It’s a bit awkward that all the articles so far point out Meghan’s estrangement from her father and Harry’s estrangement from his family, then highlight her comment about Christmas trees “encapsulating your family story.”

Even The Independent has picked up on it, and their current piece is just a dry, straightforward run through of what actually happens in the show, with very little opinion.

Why? Part of her story is Harry and finding happiness.

I don't understand the criticism of the Royal Family by her yet she uses British traditions in her offerings.

Christmas crackers aren't a thing outside of Britain. They need explaining.

CatHairEveryWhereNow · 03/12/2025 12:31

Our christmas tree follows ones we grew up with random collection of decoarations -which appear like fish slices in cutlery draws -and lots of tat kids made years ago in childhood.

I think we have one bauble IL gifted us - but mostly it's the households stuff. Scripting wise she could have focused on kids and nuclear family but I think she'd have got digs anyway.

ApplePie16 · 03/12/2025 12:18

The full quote was: “You really feel the passage of time and the different chapters of your life through the ornaments.”

She’s clearly talking about her own life story and its various stages, including her life before Harry and her chapter in the UK .

That’s why newspapers (The Times, The Telegraph and The Independent) have picked up on it and why they find it a bit amusing, as she’s reflecting on her “different chapters,” yet she’s estranged from the very people who would appear in them.

Yes. It’s just fiction really. The Christmas ones are no more realistic than a Hallmark Christmas movie. All pretty inoffensive stuff. And of course they’re all usually filmed during a hot summer 😁

But estrangement or no, they’re still a part of her life?

Early? Guess you don't work then😂

Surely if you have to be up at 8 for work you havent got time to watch a TV programme and post about it? Unless of course your work is directing traffic to TV programmes 🤔

Another nugget

Shit, I'd filled the house with traffic cones and warning lights nicked off a roadworks... 🤦‍♀️ Tree it is, then...

Why can’t she criticise the royal family and also like some British Christmas traditions? The two are not the same? Not sure why so many people seem to dislike her, she hasn’t done anything wrong.

EmpressSisi · 03/12/2025 12:47

ApplePie16 · 03/12/2025 12:40

Yep, and that’s why people find it awkward and amusing for her to say that.

MaturingCheeseball · 03/12/2025 12:48

I was amused to read in one of the articles about the Christmas miracle of Guy the Beagle coming back from the dead. How long ago was this filmed?!

ApplePie16 · 03/12/2025 12:49

EmpressSisi · 03/12/2025 12:47

Yep, and that’s why people find it awkward and amusing for her to say that.

Why? Because she acknowledges that she once had happy memories with people who have now hurt her? What’s amusing about that?

Excuse Me Reaction GIF

Not when it comes to Meghan usually - she insinuates and leaves other people to run with it .

You don’t think lying and making false accusations are wrong ?

The poster I quoted seems to think they do.

I don’t think she’s a keeping chicken kind of gal because of her looks. I never mentioned her looks (and I think she’s very beautiful)

Then why don’t you think she is?
