Here's a summary for you - it's full of British traditions like cracker pulling which she explains 🙄 , how to decorate a tree with lights and wearing matching pyjamas with her friends. Harry appears for the last 5 mins.

I watched Meghan Markle's Holiday special and it wasn't what I expected

Remember she was attracted to Harry because he was ‘kind’. 🤨

Ahem “ H” or “ my husband” .

As with all people in her life her father ceased to be useful to her so was easy to put to one side. He was ok for the odd photo but not up to scratch to be seen on world Tv. I think it really is as simple as that.
and as for the reviews, I don’t feel sorry for her, she won’t be thinking she did anything wrong, it will all be the nasty press ganging up on her because the RF told them too.

I agree with this . Meghan is ruthless about dropping people who are no longer of use and her father is just one in a long line .

Phase42 · 04/12/2025 09:48

I watched it last night.

I found the bland background music really off putting.

I loved the red PJ's but thought the friendship between the ladies was really stilted and odd. She is keen to point out that she has known them for a long time but it doesn't seem like that when they are together.

My kids would hate that advent calendar! I'd love to see their faces if they found a note instead of chocolate! And I agree that's it's not right to say 'i love you because you are...'

I thought the crackers were odd. They're not really supposed to be personalised as you don't know which of the two will win?

I liked the last chef on - loved the look of the salad.

Meghan lacks authenticity. It all seems very performative. I do think she is beautiful - I liked her clothes.

I read that he paid all 250,000 of her College fees even when she was working on Suits.

All of that performative “joy” and overly “deep” thinking/meaning to every little thing is so fake, trite and cringe.

EmpressSisi · 04/12/2025 10:38

The American reviews are starting to come in...here's one from the Washington Post

Meghan Markle’s Christmas special can’t be how she imagined her life - The Washington Post

"“With Love, Meghan” is probably a pretty good fit, but no matter how genuinely Meghan tries to come across on screen, I felt irritable toward her. Either her advice felt so basic as to be condescending (Yes, Meghan, even we peasants understand to hang ornaments so they catch the light), or so elevated as to be out of touch (Babe, I work full time and clean my own toilet; I don’t have time to make my family members personalized Advent calendars), and always delivered with a level of chipper that nobody with children younger than 8 should be able to relate to"

EmpressSisi · 03/12/2025 22:35

It’s just funny, and more than a little ironic that some posters in this very thread were adamant she could still treasure her ‘before times’ memories, despite being estranged from the very family she was waxing sentimental about in her Christmas ornament life chapter spiel.

But now, suddenly, she supposedly doesn’t owe him a shred of sympathy, even if he may be terminally ill and not long for this world.

But that’s just typical Sussex squad narrative for you 🤣

also because she seemed to be very close to him pre wedding and he did bring her up when her mum wasnt around. I never got the impression that he mistreated her growing up just that he was angry about the way he was treated by them that came out in the media.

CheeseIsMyIdol · 04/12/2025 10:59

This column is hilarious.

“The people who walk into Meghan’s cottage are supposedly her friends, but many behave as though they’ve just had a burlap sack pulled off their heads and learned: Bad news, the kidnapping wasn’t a dream; good news, if you just make some lavender syrup with this woman, she’ll let you go.”

”like a combo of needy and egomaniacal.”

“There they are, living out their great romance, and England is thousands of miles away, and the Bahamas are no longer an option, and there are decades left to go.”

Then he did something that she obviously felt was a step too far. Just because he may have been a decent father before that doesn’t really matter of she want ok with what he did.

There's Harry acting like an ass on TV and overshadowing Meghan's TV special 🤷‍♀️

That's really odd. He seems to be copying Meghan's chest-clutching, head-thrown-back-laughing, "What am I like!?" pose.

Edited to add: Just watched it with sound on. Is he doing an impersonation of somebody? If so, who?
The whole thing's quite peculiar.

Yeah, he's loving the attention though. I'm going to say that he appears very camp.

"But we took you to stately homes"....

This is all well and good but what did her dad’s family actually do?

All I heard was he did the rounds on telly before the wedding and had pap shots. Never said anything against his daughter. It’s bizarre.

I say this as someone who’s estranged from my maternal family for legitimate reasons, M is abusive and proved nasty even when given a second chance.

I do not see that from the Markles (or RF) Is it really a coincidence that they’re both estranged from their families? And Meghans side is low here to be seen besides Doria?

Genuinely no shade, but it’s not making sense.

edit to add: The siblings have been petty since, but her dad, literally… what has he done to justify never seeing his daughter or grandkids? Cutting people off for essentially no reason isn’t how families are supposed to work.

They're lip synching an interaction between the presenter, Alison Hammond, and a contestant on The Great British Bake Off.

MissFenellaPrism · 04/12/2025 12:42

How much do you think he got paid for his "performance" on Colbert?
It's not really a career plan though, is it?.

Ahh! Thanks you 😊
That makes more sense, given the "humorous" voice he's putting on.
Odd thing for him to do.
I find my sides un-split.

Mymanyellow · 04/12/2025 12:50

Colbert was one of most vocal ‘where’s Kate’ pricks I seem to remember. Hasn’t apologised either.

I don't judge other mothers. It's mean

Nothing wrong with judging mothers who make bad choices.

Judging generally is far too underrated. 😁

Yeah, I'm not in danger of my head coming off either. Perhaps GBBO is regarded as the epitome of British eccentricity? Or Harry just fancied taking the piss out of British peasants with accents?

BunnyLake · 04/12/2025 12:59

So will there be any more With Love, Meghan tv shows? What next for 2026 I wonder? If I were that rich I’d be calling it a day on celebrity chasing, seems too exhausting mentally for me.

She was asked this in her interview with, I think it was, Bloomberg. She filibustered a load of word salad nonsense about serving up the fans with shorter nuggets of her wisdom. Which likely means, no more WLM on Netflix, and a lot more MM on Instagram.
