As ever, WLM, PR disasters continued

Online, people are pointing out that a very expensive cashmere jumper that Meg wore on suits, also made its way to her wardrobe

It’s been nothing but PR disasters of late.

What I have noticed which is curious - is that the UK tabloids are not running with P6 story about the dress. Just like they avoided talking about the NY car chase. They only reported on the media frenzy. But, we know Harry sent out some sort of memo not to publish photos etc. None of the UK press did. Now Meg has acknowledged the stolen dress story and released an official refute ….and none of the UK press are even reporting on that?

That’s weird. They will literally print any old Meg story to get clicks…..but not this one???

The articles on this issue are mainly American.

We had racing penguins - they were fun.

This year my Mum and Dad are coming - they haven't seen me since I've been ill so it will be quiet but special - just the 4 of us.

I've bought some of these for a treat but I don't think we can pull them like normal crackers.

Unimaginable wealth but no taste. Tacky AF!

So often it goes hand in hand doesn’t it!

jeffgoldblum · 03/12/2025 17:19

Indianrollerbird · 03/12/2025 17:00

Plus they are wooden, so I assume a snap won't work in them. Where's the fun in that?

It’s not about fun or function it’s all about looks and showing they can afford it!

Unlikely as it seems, I remember wind up old ladies with zimmer frames. Unless that was a particularly realistic gin fuelled dream ...

I’m sure I remember seeing those too! , unless I was also drunk on gin!🤔🤣🤣

Chairity · 03/12/2025 17:30

Thanks (I think) for confirming I didn't imagine them! But £13!! I'm sure I wouldn't have paid that for them.

BasiliskStare · 03/12/2025 17:44

Oh @bluegreygreen - given we won't have to buy crackers this year ( have some left over from last year ) I might get a couple of those ( in my case probably one between two ) and see who finishes first. Thank you thank you for showing me that - I had no idea they existed. I hope you have a fabulous Christmas with your parents 🌲This will be the first one Dm coming to us for some time , Dad died in Spetember - so anything to take her mind off it. She likes crosswords etc so I think this could be a winner 💐

bluegreygreen · 03/12/2025 18:06

Glad you like them - we saw them last year but our Christmas plans were a little bit upended by treatment so got them for this year instead.

Hope you have a lovely time with your mother 💐

BasiliskStare · 03/12/2025 18:06

@bluegreygreen - have ordered the angels and the difficult turkey - I think that will amuse people for a while - Thank You 💐🍾

Well, suppose it fits.

If she were chocolate, she’d eat herself.

Indianrollerbird · 03/12/2025 18:20

Did she make anything with chocolate in the special? Is she growing cacao beans in her garden now?

lol stop!

BasiliskStare · 03/12/2025 18:29

I am unusual in that I don't like chocolate , except proper 80 % - 90 % really dark chocolate. But from those others in my household - cheap chocolate is hardly worth the candle and I think on other threads chocolate lovers have said the likes of Cadbury have changed their recipe. So either it may be very good or people who actually like chocolate may give it a go but find similar cheaper.

This , for the avoidance of doubt , is without tasting her chocolate. I think she will say she has hand picked or curated her cocoa beans - as she did the wine.

jeffgoldblum · 03/12/2025 18:44

And where exactly has she sourced this?
very risky , good chocolate is difficult and if she tries to market cheap chocolate at top prices it is not going to reflect well and she will receive another mocking drubbing.

There’s a pretty dry piece about it in The Independent. It doesn’t really have an opinion, just goes over what happens in the show. But even they point out the irony of Meghan talking about Christmas trees “encapsulating your family story” when she’s estranged from her dad and Harry’s cut off from his birth family. It’s painfully cringe to watch her set herself up like that. If she meant it as a dig, she’s ended up being the joke herself.

I find the deadpanned, bored prose of that review actually very damning.

Thanks for the link.

In contrast, here’s Catherine at tonight’s state banquet for the German president, wearing Queen Victoria’s Oriental Circlet tiara. Their lives couldn’t be more different...

Stunning

AtIusvue · 03/12/2025 22:20

Love the tiara and the colour of the dress. But my god, I wish she’d give up the Jenny Packham dresses. I get the optics of using a British designer that’s more affordable but I’m fed up of the bloody sequins.

Evening wear is the only area where I think the fashion falls short for her.

So an interesting article - it’s not a British paper review. It’s the Washington Post

The thing is she can’t deliberately outshine Camilla . I think when Catherine is Queen we will see subtle changes to her clothing .
