As ever, WLM, PR disasters continued

Online, people are pointing out that a very expensive cashmere jumper that Meg wore on suits, also made its way to her wardrobe

It’s been nothing but PR disasters of late.

What I have noticed which is curious - is that the UK tabloids are not running with P6 story about the dress. Just like they avoided talking about the NY car chase. They only reported on the media frenzy. But, we know Harry sent out some sort of memo not to publish photos etc. None of the UK press did. Now Meg has acknowledged the stolen dress story and released an official refute ….and none of the UK press are even reporting on that?

That’s weird. They will literally print any old Meg story to get clicks…..but not this one???

The articles on this issue are mainly American.

but I’m cheating with a special ( and ridiculously expensive) cake mix

Have you found an As Ever one?!

Is it not a Victoria sponge that uses jam spread ?

:-)

🤣🤣 no a real traditional Christmas fruit cake minus the cherries! ( although I know you are joking!) 🤣

Oh @jeffgoldblum @MrsLeonFarrell and others. The one and only time I made a Christmas cake - I did it from scratch - fed it with brandy through little skewer holes during December - as per my MIL's directions. It , though I say it myself - was rather lovely - tasted nice according to my dear recently passed away father who really was the only one who ate it. . Decorated with Royal icing and tastefully designed icing holly leaves. I was so proud of it , right up until the moment I threw half of it away as hardly anyone ate it. 😂. Making another Christmas cake is not on my bucket list . I shall buy a really small one from Waitrose and that's it. Same for Christmas pudding. So one of my family traditions now is buying a Waitrose Cake and pudding. (Tried the Heston pudding with an orange in the middle one year - didn't go down well. ) We're more of a port and stilton family rather than cake. But can't fault Meghan , you make your own family traditions 😉

Who wants half the pudding missing and flipping great orange instead?

Honestly without wanting to sound like the grinch!
as I do all the cooking and food every day, Christmas is something I look forward to like a battle, I bought this mix this year because I don’t have the will or energy to soak fruit in brandy or feed the cake like my mum did .🤷‍♀️ but if nobody eats it , there won’t be another one ever again.

https://people.com/when-was-meghan-markle-holiday-special-for-netflix-filmed-11860728

So was all filmed in 2024.

There’s clearly no more series in the works

I suppose it makes sense to film it all together. It will be interesting to see what happens next with As Ever and WLM.

You can get fortune telling fish on Amazon. I just have-for my home made crackers!

Thedom · 03/12/2025 15:58

Thank you Atlusvue for the synopsis !

I would love to know who decided on the content, wasn’t there a team of 80+ behind this debacle ? Did no one tell her the content was crap and boring, and would end up being ridiculed, did Netflix not do a test screening to get feedback, or was it a case of get it over and done with as cheaply as possible and run with whatever comes out, no reshooting !

At least they kept the clothes and jewellry budget to zero thanks to the pilfering from elsewhere.

😮😵 Who knew? (well obviously you ) I won't be making my own crackers - I still have some in the sideboard from last year - but the fortune telling fish are a real memory from my childhood - I am knocking on a bit but that's OK. I might have to google them and perhaps try to find a way to attach to crackers I have .

Thank you for that @CurlewKate 😁💐

ETA (well obviously you)

sequinpanties · 03/12/2025 16:12

Ah how easily we were pleased in the olden days with curly fish 😂

We had wind up racing reindeer one year and instruments another! , I like to find interesting ones that appeal to the children.

I like the sound of the reindeer. One year we had wind up racing sprouts. All the men were on the floor 😂😂

😮 😆 £50k!!! That’s some Kardashian level blingtastic vulgarity!

Isn't it just, Indianrollerbird|? Confused

And what's wrong with buying some of those plastic fish to stick in them, @sequinpanties? Grin

Do you know , even if I had the money ( and I don't ) I'm not sure I'd buy those Swarovski crackers. But then , I've never been in the position to decide

& surely there must be something in them unless you fill them yourselves with rubies and tiny faberge eggs., diamond tennis bracelet ( I'll have that one thanks - glue my name on it - (and a little plastic curling fish obvs. )

Those type of things are for people who have unimaginable wealth and nothing left to spend it on! 🤷‍♀️

Unimaginable wealth but no taste. Tacky AF!

You're right.t I & don't fit into that category. But even if I did - would I ? not sure I would But then as you rightly point out nothing left to spend it on is not a club I'm a member of - so if its someone elses money spend it as they will I say. I hope those crystals are secure as I can imagine in my hands I'd drop one and we'd be finding tiny crystals all over the place for ages. 😂

Indianrollerbird · 03/12/2025 17:00

Plus they are wooden, so I assume a snap won't work in them. Where's the fun in that?

Unlikely as it seems, I remember wind up old ladies with zimmer frames. Unless that was a particularly realistic gin fuelled dream ...

Tezza1 · 03/12/2025 17:05

@BemusedAmerican For example, my family watches "The Lion in Winter" every Christmas. Thank you for reminding me that this is actually a Christmas movie. I was reading a book yesterday where characters were discussing favourite Christmas movies, and briefly, in passing, I couldn't think of one.

Now you've given me a gift: it's a splendid movies. Well written, clever, fabulous cast, great characters, very talky with overwrought emotions - everything I love in a movie or stage play.

I hope you mean the version with Peter O'Toole? Much as I love Patrick Stewart and thought that version good, it couldn't match the intensity of the earlier version.

Someone gave my DH wind up old gentlemen on mobility scooters for his 50th!

We've had crackers with wind up racing penguins.
