As ever, WLM, PR disasters continued

Online, people are pointing out that a very expensive cashmere jumper that Meg wore on suits, also made its way to her wardrobe

It’s been nothing but PR disasters of late.

What I have noticed which is curious - is that the UK tabloids are not running with P6 story about the dress. Just like they avoided talking about the NY car chase. They only reported on the media frenzy. But, we know Harry sent out some sort of memo not to publish photos etc. None of the UK press did. Now Meg has acknowledged the stolen dress story and released an official refute ….and none of the UK press are even reporting on that?

That’s weird. They will literally print any old Meg story to get clicks…..but not this one???

The articles on this issue are mainly American.

That story about Meghan denying she is a thief has a link to one about William getting a hug from a fan and taking selfies on the beach in N Wales - he was on a visit to highlight marine conservation and then youth mental health. This is what the Sussexes are up against, they will always look like shallow, vain, entitled dimwits in comparison to the RF. Just like the photos of them partying with the Kardashians compared to the RF at the Cenotaph. The contrast between their lives and reputations before and after leaving the UK couldn’t be more stark. Meanwhile the RF seems to be surviving the Andrew stuff pretty well so far, with the popularity of the rest holding steady.

AtIusvue · 26/11/2025 09:59

it just goes to show, you can’t straddle two worlds. The world of Royalty and the world of celebrity. They are complete opposites, with different rules.

She needs to give up the titles and live her best celeb life. No one cares then if you’re pinching some dresses from a photo shoot-it’s expected entitled celeb behaviour. But it can’t stand if you’re a royal.

I agree @AtIusvue - I think they are trying to create the HIHO they were denied , assuming the RF won't pick them up on it. Well only time will tell on that one.
I don't know whether she stole that dress. I could imagine she asked for it Mary of Teck style in a way which could not be refused & perhaps suited the designer if she said she would use it in WLM promotions for publicity. But I don't know that designer or how much publicity they need. If she had paid for it , I think that is the first clap back which would have been clapped.

I think their claps backs are veering towards one hand clapping in an empty forest - or whatever the saying is. 😊

I posted this on another thread, but this is journalist and author, Paula Froelich, one of the originators of the stolen dress story, talking to The Daily Beast's Tom Sykes about it and the silly clap back from camp Sussex.

I think the obvious reason why the UK press is slow on the uptake is UK libel laws. US publications can say a lot more thanks to the First Amendment. Once the story gains traction and is doubled down on from multiple sources, and especially now the clap back has been issued, that's what the UK press publishes - a story about a story and Meghan's retraction.

The article's main point, that Meghan no longer gets much attention for anything she does, is the key issue for them going forward. Even the title isn't drawing attention so what does she do next?

What i hope they do is do what i thought they spotless have done at the off. Take some time away from the spotlight and really think any what they are passionate about and want to invest their time in. Then spend a year or so learning about their passions, volunteering in a low key way, and then come back with an actual thought out 5 year plan to enable them to show up and do good. They need to do things not talk about things.

In ten years time they will have accumulated experience and expertise and then is the time to maybe attend a few conferences sharing what they have learnt. You can't start at the end, you need to actually earn the right to speak or you come off as vapid.

The one advantage the titles give them is that taking a break won't be a problem. They have the link to an established and ongoing brand so can afford to sit back and really think about what they are trying to achieve.

So i think they will do this? No. Their achilles heel is their refusal to take the time to earn respect and a platform rather than demanding it because of who Harry's Dad is.

KimTheresPeopleThatAreDying · 26/11/2025 11:44

She wants designer labels and flashy celebrity parties and to be on first name terms with the A-list and MONEY. It’s all she ever wanted and anything she’s done (acting, marrying the men she has, pretending for five minutes that she cared about the UK or its people/history/charities) has been to reach that goal. In some ways I admire the naked ambition, and she’s definitely had her successes. If only she didn’t continue this tiresome occasional pretence that she cares about anything else.

Mylovelygreendress · 26/11/2025 11:45

Has she announced she is suing yet ?

Lunde · 26/11/2025 12:02

They just can't help themselves - they have to always "clapback" with "their truth". It just makes them look idiotic and keeps the "stealing" story on the front page for longer and to a wider audience.

I suspect that Meghan is blacklisted by some of the major designers these days and they are unwilling to directly lend her clothes for her photoshoots and shows. It is noticeable that she is wearing the stolen green dress from 3 seasons ago for As Ever Christmas stuff as a few years ago the big designers like Givenchy and Dior would have been queuing up - now it seems not even the smaller fashion houses want the association.

AtIusvue · 26/11/2025 12:03

Not heard that she’s suing, even though in their statement, they used the words false and highly defamatory - which is all you need to prove to sue. What are they waiting for?

Because if you sue then comes the discovery process!
and people are already checking and discovering that it’s not just the shoes from reitmans or the green dress but that Meghan took and has been pictured in quite a few of the clothes from suits that she admitted in an early interview that they were not allowed to keep!

This is Black Friday week in the US (Thanksgiving week). It's a huge shopping week. I've been getting discount offers in my inbox all week. I'm actually buying seeds when I get paid on Friday from my two favorite seed companies. It makes sense that As Ever is discounted because everyone else is doing it, too.

I'm not an expert but I expect the US press aren't as easy to sue as the British Press & perhaps Harry has lost his appetite for suing (if so not a minute before time ) . Or like with the BBC they come out with a strong statement and get one back which means they back off, I just don't know. But I think in some circles people have stopped believing things , just because they say it is true. Which is not a good position to be in (for them) I would have thought.

Again lilis hair was unkempt - at some point later her hair been pulled back into an unfinished plait ( no hair tie) when she’s next to the food though.

You knew you were taking her to a kitchen, why not tie her hair up?

Slightly tacky to follow the film of them showing up and doing good with a plug for As Ever. This is why half in half out would never work.

Nothing like getting the kids out for a charity gig to get some good PR

Why was only Lili taken? She’s the younger child at only 4.
Very strange

Archie was there as well allegedly.

Well Meghan's hair is always hanging about when she's in the kitchen and jewellery basted in turkey juice.

I agree. It makes sense and they pick up customers that way. More people
will try it because they get 20% off and free shipping for a short period, and they often buy one instead of two for example. When they set prices these events are included. It also hopefully works to grow your customer base - more returning buyers after the sales are over. Flamingo Estate ‘gourmet’ foods (not the real estate company by the same name in Florida etc..) is having a 20% off sale. Goop does too usually each year.

Or customers like you or me will wait for the sales. Very few things come home with me unless they are discounted substantially. Because mark ups are huge in the first place. The companies I’m buying from are still making a profit. I’m not really getting a deal at their expense. It’s more a reward for my patience 😊

I’m confused now. Is it Archie or Lili that is the favoured child as according to the Mumsnet Meghan critics?

🙄
