As ever, WLM, PR disasters continued

Online, people are pointing out that a very expensive cashmere jumper that Meg wore on suits, also made its way to her wardrobe

It’s been nothing but PR disasters of late.

What I have noticed which is curious - is that the UK tabloids are not running with P6 story about the dress. Just like they avoided talking about the NY car chase. They only reported on the media frenzy. But, we know Harry sent out some sort of memo not to publish photos etc. None of the UK press did. Now Meg has acknowledged the stolen dress story and released an official refute ….and none of the UK press are even reporting on that?

That’s weird. They will literally print any old Meg story to get clicks…..but not this one???

The articles on this issue are mainly American.

She’s Kate. The absolute insistence that she must be called Catherine when Meghan is called every name under the sun is hilarious to me

In what way is she Kate when she herself says she prefers Catherine? Surely she knows better than you who she is and what she’s called?

I love Kate as a name-but mine is short for what I consider to be the ugliest possible “long” form which I hate. So I’m a bit sensitive about people-even the RF- having their preferred name.

I'm struggling to think of a very ugly name Kate could be short for but I realise one's own name is much more personal . I still think Kate short for Catherine will continue in the tabloids for reasons of how many letters in a headline. cf Princess Di - I suspect none of her friends and family called her Di. I actually have a friend who hates Di as a nickname - her proper friends use the long form.

ETA "princess" in front of Di for clarity

Given name: Catherine
Preferred name: Catherine
Random poster: IT’S UP TO ME NOT HER - SHE’S KATE
🤪🤦‍♀️

I once worked with someone called Pamela . She hated it being abbreviated so 99% of people called her Pamela but one person insisted on calling her Pam despite repeated requests not to . Eventually she just refused to answer him !

Of all the things to find 'hilarious' this is odd to me.

She was born Catherine Elisabeth Middleton. Until she got engaged, she seemed to go by 'Kate' and maybe still does among friends and family. But her official name is her birth name. Catherine. What is so 'hilarious' about that?

And I'm not sure why you've felt the need to bring Meghan into this, but isn't her birth name Rachel?

Thedom · 27/11/2025 13:03

Isn’t Meghan’s name really Rachel ? But she prefers Meghan.

‘Although, given Galvan is an all-woman business, you’d think Meghan would want to support the brand by purchasing it herself.
At least we now have confirmation that the Duchess is doing all her own wardrobe stunts in With Love, Meghan.‘

The story about sticky fingers is not going away.

I wonder why they’re trying to paint a black woman as a thief despite very little evidence to support it

What’s the relevance of “black woman”?

Kate is a lovely name. What do you mean 'too good' for it? She was always officially Catherine in any case.

Seriously, this is a weird line of argument.

MrsLeonFarrell · 27/11/2025 13:58

Catherine always introduced herself as Catherine, the royal family and her family refer to her as Catherine. It's bizarre that anyone is suggesting differently. It's like insisting on calling Meghan, Rachel. It's simply not the way she refers to herself and it's polite to follow a person's lead.

Why is one better or worse than the other? How is it even possible to be “too good” to be called a perfectly standard name?

She hasn’t always gone by Kate btw, she has gone by Catherine for years.

Mylovelygreendress · 27/11/2025 14:07

All the spokesperson had to say was that Meghan ( sorry , Duchess of Sussex) had liked the dress so much that she bought it .

She helped herself to jewelry also 😲, and several pieces of clothing, not just the green dress. It’s too specific for it to be a lie.

Let’s see if she sues !

I doubt they could say that, it would probably backfire in a similar vein to inviting herself to the fashion show, but more serious as it involves theft.

Are the ‘stylists and their teams’ resisting Harry’s threatening texts to refute the claims and support Meghans version of events ? they are very quiet !

That's because she implied she had to take the items to stop the stylists and their teams nicking the clothes themselves and flogging them on eBay. If I was a top stylist, I would not want to work with her in the future, if that's what she really thinks of me and my team.

She nicked them to stop someone else nicking them?
Well, she’s clearly performing a much needed public service, why is she getting so much stick for this act of sacrifice?
😆
How dumb would you have to be to try that as a line of defence? Boggling.

It would already be chip paper if they hadn't clapped back. They really need to learn to stop explaining and complaining, it just brings the papers more revenue.

Imagine if it went to court, “I had to steal the dress m’lord to stop the plebs nicking it and selling it on eBay” Funny isn’t it how she is getting so angry about being called a thief yet is happy to suggest her stylists would thieve the clothes and accessories, I would be livid if I was them.

Has anyone seen that video where a drug dealer calls the police to report that someone stole her drugs while she was trying to sell the drugs to them? The nicking clothes to stop someone else nicking them reminds me of that!
