She's a beautiful woman but i can't understand why she just doesn't drop the titles and be herself. And it's odd how she talks about how much 'H' loves her but not how much she loves him.

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, Meets Her Moment

After years of being subsumed by other people’s narratives, she's ready to author her own next chapter

A baby shower is such a normal thing. Only really
miserable, cruel hearted people don’t like them.

Meghan’s was a touch more grandiose than “normal”…

The word 'boldly' feels really oddly used in this context too. Meghan's intelligent, she doesn't have to talk like this. But apparently she thinks MeghanSpeak is a better option.

I've been reading an interesting book about the cult of Chairman Mao recently, Shades Of Mao. It talks about how 'MaoSpeak' became infectious, plenty of people began adopting the stilted, melodramatic way of speaking he promoted because it was pushed on them.

Obviously Meghan isn't a communist dictator. She's somewhat narcissistic but no more than other celebs. But I do think Harry has adopted her way of speaking too. It's not because he's been indoctrinated: it's more that he's wounded and cleaves to a strong figure to lean on, especially ad his family have let him down. I DO think they probably threw him under the bus to the press to protect Andrew.

harry has never been thrown under the bus, if anything his family and the royal household worked over time to stop us knowing what a whinging druggie drunk twat he was. Harry is nothing like the palace had us believe. The man wasn’t thrown under the bus. He was given a golden carriage to avoid the bus, and hugely protected.

no one, seeing the real Harry now, out of the protection of the royal family can possibly think that man was ever thrown under the bus. It’s as obvious as the nose on my face the opposite is true.

In what way was Harry thrown under a bus ?
Remember, he didn’t want to leave so it couldn’t have been that bad!

Don't be so ridiculous. Many many kind hearted people think they're grabby and awful.
Or are you American? Because loads of women in the UK don't have them.

IcedPurple · 20/11/2025 17:12

Then I guess Brits must be 'miserable and cruel hearted'.

Nothing worse than misery and cruel heartedness.

Yes, we’re bastards, it’s true. How much did that wedding cost again? Good job all those miserable Brits turned out to throw rotten turnips at the bride.

Quite. Such nonsense! All the stuff that has emerged subsequent to him leaving the RF just shows how much he was protected and positively promoted.
I thought he was a charming, cheeky chappie, genuinely engaged with engagements. Turns out he's lazy, self-centred, greedy, mendacious and monumentally selfish.
Good job, Palace!

They’re not normal in the UK.

I was about to add the same @Indianrollerbird!
another import that has been normalised, throwing yourself a party for the main purpose of getting expensive gifts is not something we used to do in the U.K. , when I was pregnant, family members would sometimes give you blankets and outfits for the baby but that wasn’t expected and was gratefully received.

I don't know anyone who has had a 'baby shower'.

To me they are very 'footballer's wife' or tacky wannabe Instagrammer.

So true. The palace's PR team must have worked overtime on him.
Conflating Harry and Andrew is ridiculous and wrong. Harry was given good PR by the palace when he was a working royal. After that, all the negative publicity is down to his own behaviour and his and Meghan's PR team. The palace didn't create the negative image, they did that themselves.

Yes. Baby showers are one of many tacky american imports we could do without.

Indeed! And don’t get me started on “gender” reveal parties! 🙄

Why do people give a toss about these dullards?

It's a complete mystery to me. 🤔

Yes, I quite agree with @Wickedlittledancer as well, good points 👍

I find it intriguing how people have been saying for quite a long time now that they are running out of money. Yet despite all the false starts with jam and so on there seems to be no evidence that they are hard up in any way shape or form. So, something must be going right!

Or possibly Charles someone else is still paying?

Aposterhasnoname · 20/11/2025 17:35

Their titles will be removed the moment Williams arse touches the throne, don’t you worry about that.

jeffgoldblum · 20/11/2025 17:38

The job the “ men in grey” did in covering up Harry’s true personality and hiding his many , many exploits, is a masterpiece!
they crafted his entire personality and we believed it !
and as for these stupid revised stories of throwing people under busses ! 🙄 , the media doesn’t favour, they want the big scandals from the biggest celebrities or royals, they want the clicks and money.
Harry and his many sympathisers should take note , they cannot publish things if he didn’t do them .

WilfredsPies · 20/11/2025 17:39

She's copying Diana again. Picture from LocksmithFar9486 on Reddit.

Giving her the benefit of the doubt, there’s always the chance that those poses were directed by the photographer, either innocently because they’re standard poses, or with direction from the magazine who would be aware that comparisons would be made. She might not have known anything about that cover with Diana. It’s possible.

I don’t want to jump on the bandwagon for disliking her. I think she’s beautiful, I like her clothes and I’m sure she can be incredibly charming. I’m just quite confused about how much of a fuss she makes about having a royal title. She’s essentially a not very successful actress who had the title for five minutes before deciding she didn’t want the royal duties anymore. And now she’s swanning around like Princess Margaret, having held a title all her life, and it being unthinkable that anyone would think of her without connecting her to her higher station in life.

The whole ‘he loves me so boldly’ thing is just melodramatic and putting herself up front and centre. She’s acting. I think she might have forgotten that any interest in her has nothing to do with her own achievements and believing that she’d be on the cover even if she wasn’t married to Harry. I suspect that’s going to come back to bite her on the bum at some point in the future.

I’m here for the schadenfreude - I find it deeply amusing and strangely satisfying to watch the undoing of two hideous, grandiose, entitled, brittle bully’s by their very own hands.

The drivel is hilarious and that they keep on going with their out of touch, unreflective nonsense is just sublime. You actually couldn’t make this shit up - they dish it up week in week out. Hugely entertained.

I know! Then Harry reveals all sorts in "Spare", heavy drinking, spliffs, dangerous and foolish behaviour, greed and stupidity.
"Threw him under the bus"? 😂 my arse as Jim Royle would say! 😂

MrsLizzieDarcy · 20/11/2025 17:43

I think it's her level of confidence that is jarring, maybe because it's just not terribly British to admire herself in the way that she does? She's brimming with self confidence and self appreciation even though project after project fails.... and she just hops without missing a beat onto the next bandwagon.

I agree totally that Harry is a stepping stone for her. Her name is known globally, she's still relatively attractive/slim and any cosmetic work she's had done is very discreet. I think she and Harry thought they'd rake it in being half in half out of the BRF, and Charles isn't funding them in the way she needs him to. So the money is getting thin on the ground and she'll be looking to move up the ladder. "Founder" and "Feminist" my arse, she's a grifter. And so far, a pretty good one.

I think there’s something Brits could learn from the self confidence misplaced or otherwise although I am no fan.

She’s always believed she could get any man she wanted too, no sitting around willing text messages & phones to ring that I see too much in my single friends for her.

Pretty sure William will remove their titles in due course .,

The royal family depends on us buying into the birthright bullshit and accepting them inheriting vast wealth, and and property. He'll tred carefully. Him and Katherine still get it very wrong and both struggle to speak off script. He won't want us thinking too deeply 'what titles can be removed'?
