She's a beautiful woman but i can't understand why she just doesn't drop the titles and be herself. And it's odd how she talks about how much 'H' loves her but not how much she loves him.

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, Meets Her Moment

After years of being subsumed by other people’s narratives, she's ready to author her own next chapter

Why do people give a toss about these dullards?

It's a complete mystery to me. 🤔

I’m interested in celebrities in general, A-list to Z-list…
Always have been, since Princess Diana in Hello! mag.

Superhansrantowindsor · 20/11/2025 17:49

I think if she dropped the title people would warm to her a bit more. She doesn’t want anything to do with the institution of the royal family. She’s said they are racist, has no intention really to return to England. She probably couldn’t point out Sussex on a map. It just screams attention seeking.

MrsLizzieDarcy · 20/11/2025 17:43

I think it's her level of confidence that is jarring, maybe because it's just not terribly British to admire herself in the way that she does? She's brimming with self confidence and self appreciation even though project after project fails.... and she just hops without missing a beat onto the next bandwagon.

I agree totally that Harry is a stepping stone for her. Her name is known globally, she's still relatively attractive/slim and any cosmetic work she's had done is very discreet. I think she and Harry thought they'd rake it in being half in half out of the BRF, and Charles isn't funding them in the way she needs him to. So the money is getting thin on the ground and she'll be looking to move up the ladder. "Founder" and "Feminist" my arse, she's a grifter. And so far, a pretty good one.

I'm not sure if it's 'confidence' so much as a complete inability to introspect. She makes the same mistakes over and over. She and her husband have no self awareness so are unaware of how the rest of the world perceives them.

Her almost comical attachment to her title also does not indicate to me that this is someone with a true belief in who she is as a person. It's about status and superficial attainments, not genuine confidence in who she is.

FenellaFeldman · 20/11/2025 17:41

I know! Then Harry reveals all sorts in "Spare", heavy drinking, spliffs, dangerous and foolish behaviour, greed and stupidity.
"Threw him under the bus"? 😂 my arse as Jim Royle would say! 😂

Exactly! , a journalist has gone on record to say they wouldn’t have been allowed to print half the things harry put in his book.
and I would further say.. don’t want to be criticised for wearing a Nazi costume? Don’t wear one.
don’t want to be criticised for having excessive naked boozy parties in L A ? Don’t throw them and if you really must , at least actually find out about the young girls you invite to get naked with!

I think there’s something Brits could learn from the self confidence misplaced or otherwise although I am no fan.

She’s always believed she could get any man she wanted too, no sitting around willing text messages & phones to ring that I see too much in my single friends for her.

Yes, because British women need to learn that their real value is 'getting a man'.

Look at the state of the man Meghan 'got'.

Ponoka7 · 20/11/2025 17:48

The royal family depends on us buying into the birthright bullshit and accepting them inheriting vast wealth, and and property. He'll tred carefully. Him and Katherine still get it very wrong and both struggle to speak off script. He won't want us thinking too deeply 'what titles can be removed'?

Yes, and Meghan and Harry just love that "birthright bullshit"! It's really at the centre of their self promotion.

I would further add , the criticism of Meghan is not only from the U.K. , it’s global and some of the comments from her fellow Americans on sm would make us look positively complimentary.

I reckon she'll stay until Charles dies, when I imagine Harry will be coming into a lovely big pile of alimony...

You would think so, wouldn't you?
I remember the journalist saying that they didn't want to print about the drugs, but there he was, in Spare, telling everyone about bins talking and whatever.

FenellaFeldman · 20/11/2025 17:54

Dear god. Such a prize. A ludicrous, greedy, foolish man child.

Yes, people say that Meghan must be a skilled grifter because she 'landed' Harry.

And I guess in one sense, yes. He's a Prince, the son of a King and Meghan is now 3rd lady in the realm. Not that it really matters as she's never in said realm.

On the other hand, Harry is hardly a catch in himself. He's a bitter, emotionally and intellectually stunted manchild who was easy prey for a pretty, superficially charming actress. So Meghan's 'achievement' wasn't all that great.

OtherS · 20/11/2025 17:55

Unfortunately it doesn’t work that way with the royal family, the monarch leaves it all to the next in line . Meghan married the wrong brother if that was her goal.

Will be interesting to know how far they take this with respect to Archie and Lili.

Will they expect them to be addressed by their titles? Will they set them up in quasi royal / charity type roles?

Would they go as far as having them educated in the UK in order for some British / Royal dust to rub off on them which they could monetise in the US?

I see the opposite of confidence. Confident people at home in their own skin, confidant of their own purpose in life and confident in their relationships don’t go on about any of it. They don’t need to - they just live it.

What a pompous, self-righteous article. Can you believe this?

This is where I am reminded that Meghan, like me, is an elder millennial, born in 1981. We are a maligned bunch, hated by our elders for our generational insistence on authenticity and social justice, derided by those younger for our earnest belief that the world is capable of change—what Gen Z has labeled “cringe.”

Whhaaattt?? Aren't you forgetting earlier generations, beginning with Caroline Norton two centuries ago, the Suffragettes, people like Rosa Parks and Nelson Mandela? women in the 60s...(gasp) the Boomers!! who actually stimulated the revolution of "women's lib", who marched against Vietnam, and forced awareness of the exploitation of women?

or this?

Meghan is of a generation of women who were taught to seek self-actualization through work.

Ermm...for this it's my mother's generation, those who discovered themselves during the war, doing men's work

Or women such as this in the 1950s:

“The only way for a woman, as for a man, to find herself, to know herself as a person, is by creative work of her own.”
Betty Friedan, The Feminine Mystique

I can only imagine the guffaws and derision there must be in LA right now by the others in that scene.

SemiRetiredLoveGoddeess · 20/11/2025 18:11

This might be controversial. But she has been hiding her real skin tone for years with lighter make up. And l noticed the camera angles on her face in the past to make her look more fine featured.

So she had deliberately whitened up.

I don't have much time for her to be honest. She seems like a bit of a non entity who just really fancied herself .

BasiliskStare · 20/11/2025 18:15

I have to say , I do truly hope their's is a love story. After Trevor Engleson 's comment when he said something to the effect of "she'll close that deal " ( I am paraphrasing wildly there ) I do think that MM , who more than one person said she had come to look for a rich husband in the UK , thought , having met H , this is beyond pay dirt. I don't know and shame on me for thinking it but I thought she thought all her Christmases had come at once with Harry. Now , I am not saying she wasn't attracted to him , nor am I saying she does not love him - but I do think being a Prince of the Realm probably gave him a gloss which the man may not live up to. But I am not privy to their marriage. It's a personal opinion that H would not be as much of a catch if her weren't Prince Harry.

On another thread a poster said something along the lines of , Camilla puts up with the Royal flummery because of the man , Meghan puts up with the man because of all the Royal flummery.

But the truth is I do hope they are both in love , even if she doesn't express hers for him as much as she expresses his for hers. Not least because they have a young family - but going on the down low with the Duchess thing might be more indicative of loving the man not the title.

I'll take any criticism for this post because I can probably supply it myself. Just a thought.

The trashing they are still doing? , they never learn or think ahead!
first it was all about sucking up to the queen and trashing Charles, then the queen unpredictably died ( she was very old , I can’t imagine anyone thought she would live forever apart from harry.)
now it’s all about sucking up to the king and trashing William, but wait … the king is elderly and has cancer…. It doesn’t take a genius to work out what may happen! 🙄

IceBrownie · 20/11/2025 18:21

Not sure if I imagined it, but I thought I read some rumours around a possible "naked" make-up venture?

That would explain the very particular look she went for with these pictures.

I actually think she's very striking, but unfortunately they're not flattering and whoever did her hair (especially for that turtleneck look) must dislike her.

MrsLeonFarrell · 20/11/2025 18:24

Can someone explain what insumountable daily problems young children face? Mine never ever felt like this, maybe I didn't read enough parenting books? Or maybe I've failed my offspring because they never saw me bravely making jam.

Absolutely. My Mum and Aunties did essential war work, as you said, @pollyglot .
Plus all those women in WWI who replaced men doing essential work.
