She's a beautiful woman but i can't understand why she just doesn't drop the titles and be herself. And it's odd how she talks about how much 'H' loves her but not how much she loves him.

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, Meets Her Moment

After years of being subsumed by other people’s narratives, she's ready to author her own next chapter

I wonder if, when she enters a room with " call me Harry", they are announced as Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and Harry, as if he was some sort of little dog( which let's face it, she talks about him as if he is.

In all my life I've heard many many people talk about how much they love their spouse, but I have never heard anyone expressing how much their spouse adores them. I think it says a lot about how she's so laser-focussed on only herself and how people react to her, rather than her feelings about other people.

I think one of her worst traits is her seemingly total lack of self-awareness of how she comes across. Sometimes a little( actual genuine) humility goes a long way when you're someone in the public eye.

FenellaFeldman · 20/11/2025 15:54

Yes, @wordler - according to Tom Bower, Meghan had an expectation of freebies and was disappointed that they had to be refused.

IcedPurple · 20/11/2025 15:55

FenellaFeldman · 20/11/2025 15:52

Yes, @RedTagAlan , for obvious reasons, the RF aren't allowed to accept freebies. Famously, when Charles paid for Meghan's wardrobe - all those bespoke designer outfits - he paid full price. You're correct that Meghan now has no such restrictions, so she can get clothes for free, or get paid to wear them, as other celebrities do.

I'm sure she does get freebies, but it's interesting that she wore a drab outfit from several years ago at the Kardashian party. If ever that was an opportunity to push the boat out, that was it. Yet it seems no major designer was prepared to dress her, although her Aquazzura shoes were presumably gifted.

Yes, that was really strange! I agree that the Aquazzura shoes and bag were either a gift or a paid wear.

Surely she had something better I what I assume is a vast wardrobe?

bluegreygreen · 20/11/2025 16:17

At first I wondered if it was because they had gone directly there from the baby2baby event, but if you look online at photos of that event, it was also a very glamorous gala - where I would have expected Meghan to have been dressed more interestingly.

BemusedAmerican · 20/11/2025 16:27

I really think she was trying to cosplay Carolyn Bessette Kennedy and coukd not pull it off. Same thing with the awful trench coat photo in HB.

BTW, when Prince William went running in Central Park a few years ago, he didn't have a herald announcing " Make way for HRH The Duke of Cambridge".

BasiliskStare · 20/11/2025 16:33

I would think M still has a lot of clothes KC bought for her when she was part of the WRF. I presume bank transfer as she was there so briefly , scarcely chance for a cheque to clear 😊. She obviously still has the Caroline Herrera two dresses in one red outfit. Some of those clothes won't suit her current lifestyle so I wonder if they are in the wardrobe or sold (& frankly if she has sold them fair play) Or is she waiting for a charity auction type thing , which I believe even Cilla Black's family are doing. I would be interested in what has happened to the engagement photo black ballgown which did seem to be a work of art. Maybe she just doesn't have anything to wear it to nowadays.

losingstill · 20/11/2025 16:37

The cover picture does M no favours at all this isn’t one of her best looks.

elfendom1 · 20/11/2025 16:45

Indianrollerbird · 20/11/2025 11:48

That cover is really bad. They have given her a big head and elongated her neck. Like ET! Shame as the outfit she’s wearing looks really nice.

I don't know @Indianrollerbird I think that is just her own head.

Pretty sure William will remove their titles in due course .,

Hope so - although Charles should do it to take the burden/any guilt from William. H is still 5th in line to throne, hopefully the Wales family will travel separately in future, just in case!

Fluffyholeysocks · 20/11/2025 16:58

I'm a country girl living out in the sticks who wouldn't read Harpers Bazaar so I'm not her target audience. But one thing that strikes me about every interview she does is how I feel I learn absolutely nothing memorable about her. The world salad about being authentic, with friends gushing about her 'checking in' daily, being her husband"s biggest fan etc etc is just so forgettable and bland. I do admire her persistance in trying to carve out a business/career but with every new venture I feel I learn nothing new, entertaining, memorable, admirable, remarkable etc. It's all a bit beige for me.

Sweetiedarling7 · 20/11/2025 16:58

Just read it. What a load of pretentious self obsessed nonsense.
I thought I had reached my maximum level of dislike for this woman long ago but apparently I still have spare capacity.

Carla786 · 20/11/2025 17:00

KimTheresPeopleThatAreDying · 20/11/2025 10:37

In this case authenticity = not wearing as much eye makeup as usual. And saying you love someone because of how much they love you feels a little bit… narcissistic (I know it’s an overused word and I don't necessarily mean it in the clinical sense, but come on).

The word 'boldly' feels really oddly used in this context too. Meghan's intelligent, she doesn't have to talk like this. But apparently she thinks MeghanSpeak is a better option.

I've been reading an interesting book about the cult of Chairman Mao recently, Shades Of Mao. It talks about how 'MaoSpeak' became infectious, plenty of people began adopting the stilted, melodramatic way of speaking he promoted because it was pushed on them.

Obviously Meghan isn't a communist dictator. She's somewhat narcissistic but no more than other celebs. But I do think Harry has adopted her way of speaking too. It's not because he's been indoctrinated: it's more that he's wounded and cleaves to a strong figure to lean on, especially ad his family have let him down. I DO think they probably threw him under the bus to the press to protect Andrew.

BunnyLake · 20/11/2025 17:00

How come I knew exactly who this was going to be about with the sentence He loves me so boldly’ 😁 Did she actually say that, seems a strange (but very Meghan) thing to say.

I don’t think she has ever acknowledged that she loves him, even when he has said it publicly about her. Not saying she doesn’t in her own way, but she never seems open to expressing it.

There's absolutely no evidence to support that whatsoever.
What is clear is that the Palace protected Harry and promoted him as a somewhat more reliable and pleasant person than he actually was.
The whole Andrew issue is completely separate and has nothing to do with the management of Harry.
Conspiracy nonsense.

Jaffna · 20/11/2025 17:05

I think the inclusion of what her three well regarded frlends with their own solid hard won integrity think of her is the aim of the piece. Glo didn’t give a comment but MM ensured she shoehorned in her ‘closeness’ to bolster her credibility.

Ironic when her other message in the interview is not to hanker after external validation.

NotMeghanMarkle · 20/11/2025 17:07

Thanks for the link OP. Beautiful photos. Very arty.

Gowlett · 20/11/2025 17:08

On the freebies, I do think that the baby shower was a turning point, when people started to not like her. It was so ostentatious. The Queen would definitely have said something!

A baby shower is such a normal thing. Only really
miserable, cruel hearted people don’t like them.

MrsLizzieDarcy · 20/11/2025 17:11

I'd be interested to know if she was paid for this article, when she's not supposed to be using her title for financial gain.

They’re not normal in the UK.

Really?

For some of us, gifts were traditionally given when a child was born, and mother and baby were both well. I don't see why preferring that as a tradition is miserable or cruel.

Then I guess Brits must be 'miserable and cruel hearted'.

Nothing worse than misery and cruel heartedness.
