She's a beautiful woman but i can't understand why she just doesn't drop the titles and be herself. And it's odd how she talks about how much 'H' loves her but not how much she loves him.

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, Meets Her Moment

After years of being subsumed by other people’s narratives, she's ready to author her own next chapter

She certainly is. She also manages to garner far more interest (though vile) on MN than Waity Katie ever could. More power to her.

Interesting that you term criticism of Meghan on mn as “vile” then use an insulting nickname about Catherine! 🤷‍♀️

She reminds me of Anita Rani and seems just as insufferable

Oh god, I thought it was just me! 🤣

LBFseBrom · 20/11/2025 15:01

She has talked about how much she loves him and I'm sure she does. Magazine articles are frequently polarised, deliberately so. I wouldn't read too much into that.

Meghan and Harry are the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, just not HRH. Just like Diana remained Princess of Wales after her divorce, without any longer being in the royal family. It's quite correct to call her Duchess.

AsEverATwat · 20/11/2025 15:02

HugHog · 20/11/2025 12:33

She's copying Diana again. Picture from LocksmithFar9486 on Reddit.

What is it she said again, that she is trying to be authentically herself? Or is she trying to be authentically Diana..

They are still HRH, they just can’t use it. Or not supposed to especially for commercial purposes.

We know that it's correct to call her Duchess. That's really not the point!
Magazine articles are written about celebrities because it gets clicks for their publication. The material for this article has come from Meghan herself.
Sorry, the Duchess of Sussex, herself.

Hons123 · 20/11/2025 13:20

You have to give it to her, whether you like her or not - she was even more effective than the Middletons, and she did it on her own! One laid a 9-year siege with the support of her family, this one accomplished her task in what, under several months? Sorry, you have to give it to her, amazing solo strategist.

No sorry, men made her, firstly her Father, then Trevor, then Marcus Anderson and then Harry and Marcus together. Considering all the opportunities she had pre Harry the fact she only reached the heights of a small part in Suits just goes to show she wasn’t talented or beautiful enough to make it in Hollywood despite her connections.

Svolvaer · 20/11/2025 15:07

Did anyone else read this as “he loves me so badly”?

Creepy

LBFseBrom · 20/11/2025 15:11

I find the, "He loves me so boldly", quite erotic. I would love to say it (or to have said it).

'Baldy', as someone suggested, doesn't have quite the same ring to it. I hope 'boldly' wasn't a typo :-). However bald men can be very attractive......

Has she talked about how much she loves Harry? I can only think of her going on about how much he loves her, but I'm open to correction.

As to your other point, sure, it's technically 'correct' to call her Duchess of Sussex. But why go around using a courtesy British peerage title in New York or California? It's incredibly gauche. Even in Britain, most peers don't use their titles outside of the context where it would be appropriate. For example, the 9th Earl of Spencer goes by Charles Spencer on his books. I suspect he is secure enough in his lineage and status not to feel the need to shove it in people's faces at every opportunity. Meghan, not so much.

I find it intriguing how people have been saying for quite a long time now that they are running out of money. Yet despite all the false starts with jam and so on there seems to be no evidence that they are hard up in any way shape or form. So, something must be going right!

“We’re in a grand brownstone on the Upper East Side that belongs to one of Meghan’s friends. When I enter, the house manager announces, “Meghan, Duchess of Sussex,” even though we appear to be the only other two people in the house.” 😅Unbelievable. What an ego.

"Meghan, Duchess of Sussex... you know that county in a country that she and her husband - the one through which she got her title - don't appear to want to spend any time in and complain that they can't afford enough security to be able to do so safely."

They have royal money, don't they? From Harry's inheritances?

My mother used buy the Carnation ready milkshake powders for us as a treat. You added a flavored packet to milk and it was supposed to give you all your daily nutrients. The chocolate flavor was delicious. I would drink it with toast because I was still hungry after I drank it. It was also expensive so we didn't have it very often.

I think the same stuff was called Carnation Build Up in the UK. My mum used to give me it as a supper drink to try and fatten me up a bit. I was an awfully skinny runt of a kid. I remember the chocolate was amazing and my favourite. I also recall there being a strawberry one.

I don't think they will be running out of money in any real sense. Harry's trusts / inheritances and the NF / Spotify money even if nothing like the headline figures will see them a long way , if they have had the wit to invest a chunk of it wisely. I think they , or maybe just M want to be much richer than this. It would seem , though, they haven't the talent for this , and being estranged members of the RF , even with the titles , only gets you so far.

A sort of Becky Sharp on steroids?

Thank you, ladies, just ordered the book - not the Vanity Fair, the other one. Thank you..

The running costs of the house alone will be astronomical, not to mention travel costs, clothing etc. I'd imagine that any easily accessible money that comes in is pretty much gone immediately, hence the constant grifting.

Shrewd and calculated seems apt . From the article:

‘The appearance at the La Brea Tar Pits has wrapped, and now it’s lunchtime at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel. I’ve followed Meghan underneath the iconic green-and-white-striped awning of the entryway and through the cream-carpeted lobby and outdoors onto the patio, where a live piano player’s notes accompany our procession. Long the see-and-be-seen spot for Hollywood dealmaking and politicking, it is a calculated choice as the site for my first interview with Meghan. We are ushered to a circular table in the corner of the garden, a prime seat where we can see the other diners and they can see the three of us. (The Sussexes’ chief communications officer sits between us.) We order a burger and fries for the table, and Meghan orders the Polo Power Bowl. When it arrives, she holds up the dish, taking genuine delight in the perfectly arranged produce, aligned to make a rainbow. During our conversation, Meghan pauses to chat with the restaurateur Michael Chow (she says his restaurant catered a recent birthday for Prince Harry, or “H,” as she always refers to him) and has a whispered conference with a famous film titan.

She “ordered a burger for the table”?!??

FenellaFeldman · 20/11/2025 15:40

Yes, I thought that was a bit odd, @mumsweekend . That's Hollywood for you 😉

thenightsky · 20/11/2025 15:42

Also the Bloomberg interview, she was asked if she had anything to say about the state of politics in 2025 (after she denounced Trump in 2016) and she said she would say something if she wanted to but she has nothing to say. Nothing to say!!!

Ah, but was she silent, or was she silenced?

JudgeJ · 20/11/2025 15:42

FenellaFeldman · 20/11/2025 11:17

Yes, it's a strange one. I think maybe "Meghan" is part of her ID.

Because without her husband's title, which is where she gets hers from, she's just an over-the-hill ex actress with a resume of box-opening and a minor role on a cable legal thing.

I wonder how that works, in terms of free clothes etc.

I would imagine the working Royals will have rules on what they can take for free, to prevent undue influence etc. But at the same time, they might be expected to help promote up and coming local designers and UK brands ?

But Meghan is free of the usual boundaries, so she might be able to get free clothes, and charge to wear them ?

FenellaFeldman · 20/11/2025 15:52

Yes, @RedTagAlan , for obvious reasons, the RF aren't allowed to accept freebies. Famously, when Charles paid for Meghan's wardrobe - all those bespoke designer outfits - he paid full price. You're correct that Meghan now has no such restrictions, so she can get clothes for free, or get paid to wear them, as other celebrities do.

The working royals buy all their clothes and accessories. They either send back promotional freebies or buy them if they like them.

There was one canny jewelry designer who got round it by making a special necklace for Kate and sending it to Pippa, who then gifted it to her sister.

I’m sure Meghan gets loads of freebies. I think that was probably one of the things she found hard in the RF - being forced to send back the free stuff, which must have started pouring in compared to that for a minor actress.
