She's a beautiful woman but i can't understand why she just doesn't drop the titles and be herself. And it's odd how she talks about how much 'H' loves her but not how much she loves him.

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, Meets Her Moment

After years of being subsumed by other people’s narratives, she's ready to author her own next chapter

To be honest, i feel that H and M are becoming more irrelevent as time goes on. William will slim down the RF, theres no doubt about that. People in the UK, as time goes on, will become less interested in H and M as they become less relevent to the UK. They dont carry out Royal duties and dont represent the UK - they are in a tricky place of having no official role, no particular achievements and are obviously struggling to maintain Harry's previous status in the RF. I wouldn't be surprised if William does nothing when he becomes King (as regards their titles). I'm thinking what will the future bring for for Archie and Lilibet? I doubt M would want A in the military and there's no family 'firm' to join. In truth, as times goes on, I wonder if H will look back with regret.

I imagine that addressing a room of real estate bods he's already thought WTF.

Is this the stuff she was so desperate to share and that she was being “silenced” about?

By "silenced" she probably means Anne or Sophie saying "For goodness' sake, Meghan, stop wanging on about the dish soap thing - we know! And it's bloody washing-up liquid!"

Jaffna · 21/11/2025 11:03

KimTheresPeopleThatAreDying · 21/11/2025 10:57

It’s the same old stuff - I’m learning French on Duolingo, I was always a leader as a child, I’m a modern business woman with a kid on my hip whilst I build my brand. Is this the stuff she was so desperate to share and that she was being “silenced” about?

The Duolingo boast was to one up / top dog a child!

She is always so proactively self-congratulatory - and in this article she has roped-in a few of her credible mates to bang the drum for her as no one is buying any of her delusional, grandiose and disingenuous drivel because she has been exposed so many times for what she actually is - a tenacious, talentless, social climbing, bullying grifter!

You are 100 per cent right there. No mention of her mental health work, the charities, her care for others etc - even the rest of the family are a sideshow. It's all about her. Harry is a prop as are the children although of course the favoured Lili gets a special mention. She comes across as shallow and vain yet the pics show her in her worst light as regards her usual posed style. The clothes are high end but her look is just weird.

Yes, normally when a 'celeb' gets a cover story with a major mag, it is part of a promotional drive. For their latest film, book, TV series, fashion line. Something. But here the only 'product' is Meghan, sorry, The Duchess, herself. WLM and 'As Ever' get only a cursory mention.

The problem is, the 'product' is a bit stale now. Proctor & Gamble? Duolingo? Finding your 'voice'? We've heard it all before. The 'new' bits, such as insisting on being formally introduced as 'The Duches of Sussex' are pure cringe and not likely to win her any new fans. It's hard to see where she can go from here.

I remember reading that she was ready to be wed much sooner, but like most things, that may have been speculation.

Very likely indeed. "ready to be wed much sooner" is a really odd phrase, imo. But, if you're talking being in a rush to get married, Meghan seemed extremely ready to be wed, according to pieces I've read. She certainly made sure she was acknowledged as Harry's girlfriend pretty promptly.
Catherine had the luxury of time since her relationship with William started when they were quite young. Meghan's age must have been on her mind if she wanted children and, as it turns out, she did.

And I really hope they last the distance too, and those pesky rumours about him are untrue.

Sure.
In exactly the same way as Meghan must have felt sorry for someone being called "Waity Katie".

Catherine tried very hard to keep her relationship with W quiet because she knew how it would blow up once it became public. M, on the other hand, confirmed her relationship with H on the cover of a magazine. That says it all about the difference between the two women.

LAMPS1 · 21/11/2025 11:19

Maybe she feels she exists in order to be loved and adored and that’s her sole purpose in life…..for the benefit of others to look upon her and know she is there, high on her royal pedestal without doing any of the royal duties or making any of the royal sacrifices.

What do the estate agents get out of it? Honestly, it’s like a parallel universe.

BasiliskStare · 21/11/2025 11:35

I think Meghan cannot believe her luck in meeting / marrying Harry. & it did seem a bit rushed and she did seem keen to get it "out there" . Now I (increasingly fondly - in the Shakespearean sense ) hope it is a love match. But I do wonder if plain Captain Wales would have had a look in if he were not a member of the WRF.

He's not as rich as she thought he was. Oh very very very rich by most people's standards. Their marriage catapulted her into fame beyond fame. & the title. But I increasingly think she thought, realising H had a tenure at no.2 ( and that would fade ) that was a stepping stone to further huge riches and inroads into the A list. But - and go back to Tina Brown here - she has made so many professional mistakes - more than almost anyone. I think if she pivots again she may have to take ballet lessons ( never had them myself , but don't ballerinas concentrate on one fixed point whilst spinning to stop themselves falling over - probably a bad analogy)

I think the pair of them are appearing more Ruritanian by the week. OK got the titles - but what do they actually mean? Pretty much nothing if they aren't part of the WRF. (I know I know many will think they don't count even then but just to go with the status quo flow for a mo )

Honestly if she just gave up the DoS thing and called herself MM it would , I think , swipe away so much petty criticism about her.

Yup.

Stale is a good word to use here I reckon. Not that her business brands ever even got near to fresh.

When I hear someone describe themself as a business person, and I can't identify their business, it's a total switch off for me.

Because their business is BEING a business person.

Jam ?

Is that really the best she could come up with ?

It does not even get good reviews.

I don't understand any of her business decisions. If she had joined forces with a jewellery designer and brought out a range of bangles, bracelets and watches then that would be something she is known for and might attract a following. Similarly, she is known for make up, so a range of bronzers or something for darker skin tones would be a nice range. She could speak about these with authenticity, lecture us on how to curate the perfect bracelet stack, explain how to get that sun-kissed Cali look. All of that would be real, something in her wheelhouse. But no, we get her drizzling honey on a cooked turkey and sprinking flowers on bagels.

And the Jam, or spread, is made in a factory on an Illinois industrial estate.

Meghan Markle’s As Ever ‘homemade’ jam actually made in factory 3000km away in Illinois | The Nightly

So she is not in the jam business. She is not out there doing contracts with fruit farmers, setting up a factory and buying machines, hiring staff etc.

She is not taking any risk on anything at all with her jam business.

A jam Meghan Markle has released under her new brand As Ever is actually made 3000km from her mansion.

The truth behind Meghan Markles luxe ‘homemade’ jam

Meghan Markle’s jam range is selling fast, but one detail about its origin is raising eyebrows.

But no, we get her drizzling honey on a cooked turkey

That I really don't get. A lot of the technique in roasting poultry is geared towards getting a nice, crisp skin. I remember AA Gill (whatever one thinks of him, he was a brilliant food writer) talking about being served a roast chicken whose "skin cracked like starched linen".
So why would you want to make it overly sweet and soggy by slapping honey over it?

How do you know they’re beautiful? No one has seen them . The last photo of either of them full face was years ago.

Children are beautiful.

LaMarschallin · 21/11/2025 12:07

So, if all children are beautiful, there's no point mentioning it.
It's like saying "the gorgeous LaMarschallin" - the gorgeousness is implied.

Meghan could not wait to announce her relationship..the crafty photo of a cup of tea and some spooning bananas to send some message to H I seem to remember. Was clear she was all about the attention. We are not bankrolling them anymore just find her highly entertaining

My theory is that someone was making her look daft, knowing that they would be far away by the time this footage was posted. But maybe she always pours honey on a roast bird. I like to shovel cranberry sauce on roast chicken, so what do I know?

Well, she's no cook is she? More of a hostess.

I'm a bit like a hostess sometimes, when I'm trolley-ed.

(I know that hyphen isn't really needed but the word looked like "troll eyed" without it and I don't want to cast aspersions on anyone's beautiful peepers)

This type of nonsense is why people are just laughing at H&M now.

If they had taken off on their freedom flight and got on with their lives, most people would have said, more power to them. But the utter rubbish they have spouted since then, not to mention hanging on to their titles so tightly, they are continuously making utter twats of themselves.

I hope William takes the titles, just for the f**k you of it and so we can watch the reaction, it would make great TV.

I'm not sure a fashion or beauty line would be wildly successful. The field is so overcrowded. But I definitely agree that it would be more suited to Meghan than flower sprinkles and raspberry 'spread'. The whole 'lifestyle' thing is so dated and out of touch, and cozy dinners with friends and family really isn't something you'd associate with the Duchess.

Also, to succeed with any sort of brand, she'd have to persevere and create a coherent image. Which means working with professionals and managing her social media and other appearances to support her brand image. But as is very apparant now, Meghan doesn't seem capable of taking advice. So any fashion brand would likely end up as big a mess as 'As Ever.'

I have always believed that when Catherine and William got back together after their brief split they decided to wait to marry until they were ready to have children. It made a lot of sense to keep the pressure off Catherine for as long as possible. They know once they were engaged and married things would accelerate and i think they wanted time together without that pressure.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 21/11/2025 13:21

Remember when Charles first addressed the Nation when he became King and he announced that William and Catherine would be the Prince and Princess of Wales? It would be great tv if in King William’s first address to the country that he announces The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will now be known as Mr and Mrs Mountbatten-Windsor! I would tune into gogglebox for that! 😂
