She's a beautiful woman but i can't understand why she just doesn't drop the titles and be herself. And it's odd how she talks about how much 'H' loves her but not how much she loves him.

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, Meets Her Moment

After years of being subsumed by other people’s narratives, she's ready to author her own next chapter

I see the opposite of confidence. Confident people at home in their own skin, confidant of their own purpose in life and confident in their relationships don’t go on about any of it. They don’t need to - they just live it.

Absolutely this

I suspect they thought that more money would come from granny in the will if they were her favourites

Yes, that was the wrong plan.

Possibly @SirChenjins, but if we (mostly) know how the royal family handles inheritance.. monarch to monarch ( yes we know why!) , I find it incredibly sad and mystifying that Harry of all people doesn’t seem to know anything about his own family and how things are done! 🤷‍♀️

Why do people give a toss about these dullards?

It's a complete mystery to me. 🤔

And yet here you are on the thread..

I know - he seems quite clueless (or wilfully ignorant, I'm not sure)

IfIHadAHeart · 20/11/2025 18:36

It’s how I talk about my dog, a Vizsla, who is the ultimate Velcro dog and permanently glued to my side. I often joke that she’s obsessed with me and loves me more than anyone else.

I can’t imagine speaking that way about a human. Although I’m divorced so possibly my husband just didn’t love me boldly enough…

Puzzledandpissedoff · 20/11/2025 18:36

jeffgoldblum · 20/11/2025 18:16

The trashing they are still doing? , they never learn or think ahead!
first it was all about sucking up to the queen and trashing Charles, then the queen unpredictably died ( she was very old , I can’t imagine anyone thought she would live forever apart from harry.)
now it’s all about sucking up to the king and trashing William, but wait … the king is elderly and has cancer…. It doesn’t take a genius to work out what may happen! 🙄

Also spot on, jeff, but I suspect they'll have hit a wall if, as seems likely, William becomes King sooner rather than later

If it happens, George will still be a child and I'd expect even H&M to have more sense than to target him

I used to go with clueless but I’m now convinced “wilfully ignorant “ is in fact correct!

Yes, because British women need to learn that their real value is 'getting a man'.

Look at the state of the man Meghan 'got'.

She also got a cracking surname. Mountbatten-Windsor. Grin

OtherS · 20/11/2025 18:42

jeffgoldblum · 20/11/2025 17:58

Unfortunately it doesn’t work that way with the royal family, the monarch leaves it all to the next in line . Meghan married the wrong brother if that was her goal.

Seriously? I thought the Queen left to everyone, including a sizeable sum to Harry? Surely Charles will leave something to him, his poor hard done by little boy... Most importantly, does Meghan know he might not...?!

It’s funny you mention that puzzled ! , I was thinking to myself that they have run out of time and line.
however their little scheme wouldn’t work with William anyway, there are things a grandmother or father will forgive but not a sibling.
it’s the end of the line if he doesn’t butter up Charles before he dies.

Also, I strongly suspect that William will never forgive him his betrayals in that wretched book.
How low can you go.

No, it goes monarch to monarch. They inherit from others eg Queen Mother, Diana, Philip.

I assume her not dropping the title is a bit of a FU to the royal family. I'm sure they hate her using it.

As long as she doesn't use her HRH style, I doubt they care. I think she won't drop her title because it sets her apart her from other celebrities and it's her only currency. Netflix\Hollywood and many others are not interested in Meghan Markle, former D list actress; they are interested in Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, member of the British Royal Family. If she dropped the title, the opportunities she gets because of her royal connection would probably significantly decrease.

Sadly not! The reigning monarch leaves everything to the next in line , if they don’t do this then they would pay inheritance taxes ( which on their amount would be eye watering) , any private bequests are set up as trusts before death or a request is made to “help out “ other family members.
by all accounts everyone in the family knows this as it’s been happening for decades, only Harry and Meghan seem to be uniformed !
and it should be noted that it doesn’t matter if Meghan waits 10 years , she would only be entitled to an equal share of Harry’s money only and in America as is normally true here , inheritance is off the table and belongs solely to the person it was willed to.

Why does she insist on being known by the style of a divorced Duchess ?

😂

BasiliskStare · 20/11/2025 18:54

I am sure KC will leave H something which by my standards would be enormous. But yes most personal wealth goes down monarch to monarch without IHT ( egregiously in my view but can't see it changing in KC's lifetime ) . Or KC will leave money in trust for grandchildren.
Anyway the point remains they are rich as rich can be , but just not as rich as they want & their talents (thus far) cannot realise.

Yikes. But didn't the Queen seal her will for a few decades, what would be the point if all is says is to give everything to Charles?! I obviously know all the royal stuff would go to the heir, but thought they had loads of private wealth and possessions too that they could do with as they wished... guess that explains why Andrew's skint! Ah well, thanks for enlightening me, I had no idea. So poor old Meghan's stuck with whatever's left from Philip, and probably not much chance of seeing anything more.

Interesting, I always thought once you inherited anything it got chucked in the family pot. Turns out I know nothing at all of inheritance law, whether royal or otherwise! Helps explain why she's so grasping then, can't see Harry getting off his bottom to increase the bank balance so if they want to keep living in the manner she has decided to accustom herself to, it's down to her. Supposed that's better than if she were humiliating herself (and her children) just because she wants to be a star...

That's the agreement, details are sealed. However. It all goes to Charles.

This is true, @jeffgoldblum, but as in the UK an American spouse can apply for a share if there really aren't any other assets available to support them and there's no way for them to make their own money

I'm very confident, however, that the RF will have thought of that, and that Harry's view of "What Meghan wants Meghan gets" won't apply to any arrangements they make

Apparently puzzled ( because this was discussed a lot on another site by Americans) , in America and California in particular they are very much in the 50 / 50 category and inheritances are strictly off the table! , the only way a spouse can get access is if it’s mingled in with joint accounts ( which I forget the term) means it becomes joint money! , I don’t think we are that strict in the U.K.
