Meg n Harry trick or treating with booze?

AtIusvue · 01/11/2025 22:16

Meg appears to have wine tumbler cooler and Harry has a bottle of something to take their kids tricking or treating.
Why the hell would you be drinking while looking after your kids? I mean, it’s definitely a chore taking the kids round the houses…..but I’m sure most people can do it without resorting to hitting the vino!

Blimey, I grew up in a Gloucestershire village in the 1960's and our carol singing expeditions would seemingly send Mumsnet cataplectic! Most houses would offer the adults a good glug of mulled wine or a sherry and we probably visited about 10 houses or so. Anyway, if H & M are able to get too pissed to look after kids on one bottle of beer and a couple of glasses of wine, then they must be very cheap to take out!

Are they never allowed to set foot outside of Montecito ...you realise how absolutely crazy you sound...saying two people shouldn't habe gone to another area.

You get people who drop their kids off in affluent areas to scrounge. Maybe Meghan has run out of Halloween treats with her pancake mix 😉

It’s actually quite refreshing to see so many people taking a positive view on the booze. The average mumsnetter get very puritanical whenever alcohol is mentioned. They get by with their sniff of sherry on Christmas Eve and call you an alcoholic if you dare to enjoy a glass of wine with your dinner 🤣🫣

Some deeply unpleasant comments .

Happy Thanks GIF

So many new names here on the board.

EllesmereP · 02/11/2025 17:52

I suppose there's no possible reason why people who don't usually visit this board may have been dropping in? Has the royal family been in the news at all recently maybe?

WTF was racist about my comment ??

The only thing Meghan has done to the British people, is be not white. She dared to be kind, giving, and come into the marriage a successful mixed race woman, and the British press did everything they could to vilify her for it. Certain members of the British public have also jumped on the bandwagon every since.

No5ChalksRoad · 02/11/2025 18:32

I don't care much one way or the other but for people who want their privacy... one wonders why they didn't avail themselves of the Halloween opportunity to don costumes and trick-or-treat as a completely anonymous and unrecognized family. It would have been so easy, and no worries about paparazzi.

TheCheekyCyanHelper · 02/11/2025 18:42

bluegreygreen · 02/11/2025 12:05

Not remotely desperate - just don't like hypocrisy.

Would be very happy for them to be doing whatever they wanted if they hadn't made specific pronouncements on things.

Dear lord, get a life. Every thing you post is sad and pathetic. They never post their children's faces, which means the kids can have normalish lives, where most members of the public wouldn't recognize them. Why does that upset you so much?

Exactly, this was a perfect opportunity for them to go incognito with their kids. They have done it before in Toronto with Eugenie and her now husband and claimed they loved they were able to go unrecognized.

They were not in their own neighbourhood, its daylight and a photographer at the ready, looks like they were well prepped for the photographs (or another staged opportunity a la the pumpkin patch)

Trick-or-treating with booze for the adults? I clearly need to spend Halloween in the U.S! Is that a West Coast thing or do people do it everywhere? I’ve always wanted to visit Salem at Halloween.

Edited

I'm in Michigan. We live at the end of a court. The neighbors at the end, all sat in lawn chairs at the end of the street, with giant speakers with Halloween music, trays that had their candy, and a portable bonfire pit. Next year, we've decided to have mulled wine too.

bubzie · 02/11/2025 16:38

I don't give a shit about what they are drinking but why are they out in Santa Barbara with their kids? They don't live there. First the pumpkin patch at Santa Barbara and now this.

What's wrong with Montecito?

I thought rich people like the Kardashians etc all had these extravagant at home parties for their kids and friends? Were the Sussexes not invited anywhere and they had to resort to grifting in Santa Barbara?

Because in rich neighborhoods, the houses are very spread out, and have extremely long driveways. It makes it very hard/tiring to trick or treat, especially if you have small children. so it makes more sense to go a neighborhood where houses are closer together.

Vodkamartini3olives · 02/11/2025 18:59

@EmpressSisi I'm in Washington State & it's definitely a tradition. We had a big crock pot full of mulled wine, others had hot apple cider with fireball or hot chocolate with Bailey's. No one's getting shit faced just enjoying a social drink with neighbours. It was absolutely pissing down on Friday night here and the parents were still out walking the neighborhood with littles they deserved a little treat too.

You never have to wonder with that particular poster. I very rarely dare to venture on Meghan and Harry threads due to the sheer insanity but everytime I do, that poster is there with their criticisms and snide digs.

I can't imagine how empty one's life must be to constantly follow and critique two insignificant people who do not affect one's life and have done nothing to affect one personally.

ImogenBrocklehurst · 02/11/2025 19:58

You need to get off the internet OP. It’s addling your brain. You can put other liquids in the wine cup, you know.

Absolute rubbish . She was welcomed with open arms until her manipulative , lying ways became apparent .

Mylovelygreendress · 02/11/2025 20:16

And she wasn’t overly successful; a bit part in a cable show …..
Not the first mixed race person to join the Royal family but the first to make a pig’s ear of it .

I had, as I had being watching Suits.

I hadn't heard of Kate though until she was dating William so 🤷‍♀️...how many had heard about her before William? Did you?

Really? Lifestyles of the rich and famous forced to go down market for their celebrations 😂

Why would I have heard of Catherine ? She was a student at St Andrews ( same year as DD1 but they were not friends). Certain people talk about M M as if she was Judi Dench but she was - at best - a c list actress in a cable show. Still an achievement but let’s not get carried away !

That's a very sad way to look at life... incorrect though as well.
