Meg n Harry trick or treating with booze?

AtIusvue · 01/11/2025 22:16

Meg appears to have wine tumbler cooler and Harry has a bottle of something to take their kids tricking or treating.
Why the hell would you be drinking while looking after your kids? I mean, it’s definitely a chore taking the kids round the houses…..but I’m sure most people can do it without resorting to hitting the vino!

Why would I have heard of Catherine ? She was a student at St Andrews ( same year as DD1 but they were not friends). Certain people talk about M M as if she was Judi Dench but she was - at best - a c list actress in a cable show. Still an achievement but let’s not get carried away !

I had never heard of MM before her engagement with Harry. I don't watch American cable output so I missed her 138 minutes of fame .

I'm in Michigan. We live at the end of a court. The neighbors at the end, all sat in lawn chairs at the end of the street, with giant speakers with Halloween music, trays that had their candy, and a portable bonfire pit. Next year, we've decided to have mulled wine too.

Why not this year? Are you elevating your celebration? 😂

I had, as I had being watching Suits.

I hadn't heard of Kate though until she was dating William so 🤷‍♀️...how many had heard about her before William? Did you?

I hadn't heard of Meghan until she met Harry but i then i realised in retrospective she was a guest star in a few things i'd seen. I just hadn't watched Suits so she didn't really register. She was a competent actress.

Catherine met William so young it would have been odd to have heard of her before surely.

Goodness the Squad have had a busy 24 hours .
Some deeply unpleasant comments .

Who is this Sussex Squad you keep going on about?
Can you name them?
Not me by the way, I don't know them, not interested

Just because for once the majority of posters think this thread is batshit you don't like it and start bandying about Sussex squad...whoever they are

I don't give a shit about what they are drinking but why are they out in Santa Barbara with their kids? They don't live there. First the pumpkin patch at Santa Barbara and now this.

What's wrong with Montecito?

I thought rich people like the Kardashians etc all had these extravagant at home parties for their kids and friends? Were the Sussexes not invited anywhere and they had to resort to grifting in Santa Barbara?

What on earth is the matter with you?

When my DCs were young we used to trick or treat at a friend's miles away from where we lived
So?

So many new names here on the board.

I've only commented once on here but I will confess I've just name-changed this week and have been on other H&M threads.
Don't think I've said anything too controversial.

And she wasn’t overly successful; a bit part in a cable show …..
Not the first mixed race person to join the Royal family but the first to make a pig’s ear of it .

She did not have a bit part, she was part of an ensemble, of a hit tv show. Just because it was on cable, doesn't mean it was some barely seen TV show. That's like saying Orange is the New Black was a small show. But racists like to downplay her accomplishments, and the fact she was worth millions on her own, and actually worked for a living before getting married. Acting like she should be ashamed of that.

That's a very sad way to look at life... incorrect though as well.

No, VERY accurate.

CurlewKate · 02/11/2025 22:50

I think she was one of the main people in Suits for 4 or 5 years? Could be wrong- I never saw it.

FullOfMomsense · 02/11/2025 22:57

I did the same, only mine was a cocktail. Get a life, people drink 🍸 🙄

chaosmaker · 02/11/2025 23:05

Didn't they all drink in the episode of motherland when they took the kids out for seasonal begging?

I agree.

I think what happened is the stuff going on with AMW bought heaps more people to the RF forum and they saw this ridiculous thread topic & commented. We all got to see a more representative group of people. Most think this nit picking at Meghan and Harry is ridiculous.

Plus this was a trending thread right around the time Brits go to bed but Americans are still awake, and the OP specifically asked if people really drink wine while trick or treating in the US, so a bunch of us answered.

A friend is different from the people who bring their kids into areas that are not their neighbourhood. What on Earth is the matter with you ?

American here. It’s totally normal here to trick or treat in areas where you don’t live. I live in one of those areas. We welcome kids from all over town.

138 minutes

That's not even true. 108 episodes. How many have you been in?

BeeWitchy · 03/11/2025 01:22

138 minutes

You’ve taken the time to find out Meghan’s on screen for 138 minutes in order to minimize her career? Weird.

Same.

People bring carloads of kids from the big city neighborhood next door to my suburb so they can trick or treat in safety and take home a lot more candy than they would get near their own homes.

Hallowe'en is a time of generosity and kindness toward children here.

Not sure what the issue is with that - people buy.the candy specifically to give it away. What difference does it make that non locals get some? Nobody wants to be left with a pile of fun size bars on November 1st.

For someone who doesn't watch 'American cable output', you certainly seem to have plenty of opinions on how residents of the greater Hollywood region and their offspring spend their Hallowe'ens...

And also - 'cable'?

I don't wish to derail the thread with this, so will simply say that just because a number of people think it was a win doesn't make it so. An out-of-court settlement is not a legal victory.

There were threads here discussing the legal facts (and what was and was not apologised for) if you are interested.

Does that mean you believe the out of court settlement in the civil case brought by VG against AMW - PA as he was at the time - had no legal significance?

Settlements in civil cases have to be signed off by the judge hearing the case, and they are the usual way civil cases end.

The entire purpose of a civil suit is to decide liability for the injury of whatever kind that has been alleged, not guilt, meaning the financial implications of liability must be hashed out - judges prefer to see the lawyers do this among themselves than to have to do it for them.

Judges are always happy to move on to the next case on the docket (and steer the lawyers toward an agreed settlement). Juries are always happy to be dismissed.

So it's not the massive H&M gotcha that you think it is. Sorry. They weren't (in your words) grifting in Santa Barbara, they were doing what other Americans do

AtIusvue · 01/11/2025 22:26

I’ve just read that in California, that some people take a drink with them to go round the houses and some houses put out drinks for the parents. Any Americans know if this is true?

It’s not true. And it’s also illegal to drink out in public. The only places you’re allowed to drink are in homes/their private gardens, in restaurants/their outside seating areas, or bars/nightclubs. You aren’t allowed to drink on sidewalks.

This post is unhinged.

LOL, maybe not where you live, but even as a kid I know of multiple houses that passed out beer to my dad as we went trick or treating in our neighborhood. You obviously haven't been in suburbs much.
