Meg n Harry trick or treating with booze?

Meg appears to have wine tumbler cooler and Harry has a bottle of something to take their kids tricking or treating.
Why the hell would you be drinking while looking after your kids? I mean, it’s definitely a chore taking the kids round the houses…..but I’m sure most people can do it without resorting to hitting the vino!

FFS. People just pick on everything they do. Maybe it is water, maybe it is an alcoholic drink. Doesn’t mean they are getting roaring drunk! Have you never had a glass of wine at a party when your children are there?

We handed out wine, and Baileys laced hot chocolate at the haunted house (gazebo) we put on yesterday in Norfolk :)

Ooh that sounds like fun. I don’t drink but the more I consider it, the more I think I might start as a reward for getting to early-old age.

And I'm guessing they look a bit cranky because they're trying to trick or treat with their kids and randoms are taking their photo and selling it to the DM!

I thought it was illegal in California to sell images of children without parental permission? IIRC there is a specific law about children of public figures where it is harassment to take pictures if asked not to.

As the kids are only photographed from the back as usual - I assumed this was something Harry and/or Meghan had set up.

It’s not a small drink though, he's carrying a bottle.

So what?

patooties · 02/11/2025 01:11

There were crowds of tiny ghosts and witches door knocking where I live last night. Many of their parents were stood in the avenue drinking beers chatting. Nothing to see, move on.
A nice evening for the local children - which was semi social for their parents.

Looking forward to having mulled wine at the Christmas fete, kids around to boot.

What an embarrassing thread!

Should have gone to bed earlier.

No5ChalksRoad · 02/11/2025 02:16

Majority of parents in my area have beer or whine during trick or treating.

bubzie · 02/11/2025 02:30

Whatever they are drinking I won't have it as both their faces look like well skelpted arses 😂

I’ve just read that in California, that some people take a drink with them to go round the houses and some houses put out drinks for the parents. Any Americans know if this is true?

I'm in the US and I'd say most people bring a little snifter with them for trick or treating. There were certainly a lot of insulated coffee mugs out and about last night.

Loving the pearl clutching. You'd think the Brits weren't known around the world for their heavy drinking culture and booze-fueled hooliganism.

ElaineBurdock · 02/11/2025 02:35

It's illegal to drink alcohol in public in California. California state law prohibits open containers of alcohol in public spaces and in vehicles.

@ElaineBurdock
A gated community may well have its own regulations, and municipalities in general can set their own by-laws wrt certain zones or certain dates/ times.

That's true. It's not a good look for them, if that is booze. They have driven with open containers.
My state is stricter about drinking while out and about.

I live in North America as well and it’s quite normal for parents to nurse a drink while the kids run around the houses. It’s a single drink, not a bottle of tequila each. Lighten up.

I've never heard of this where I am. We must be all law abiding or something.

Shakeyitoff · 02/11/2025 03:07

I have been trick or treating in Germany. I can confirm that I was offered and partook while in charge of an child, alcohol offered to me by the lovely residents of the village we were staying in. I didn’t get drunk and the kids survived. Bit of a non story even if it’s not a mug of coffee and a bottle of water.

Because its a wine tumbler and the glass bottle with a brown liquid. Could be witches brew (cola and irn bru)

I have one of those for coffee, I hope noone at work thinks it's for wine!

That's completely normal. Some houses hand out beer. Stop being racist, and just hating anything they dare do. They're minding their own business, in their own neighborhood, making memories with their children. Why don't you do the same.

LidlAmaretto · 02/11/2025 03:18

Yes I have one of those for coffee too, and the brown bottle looks like it has a clear plastic screwtop on it, so a water bottle. But hey, maybe they will be arrested and charged with drinking in public or being drunk in charge of a child, and Harry will be deported and Harry will be so upset that Meghan forced him to go out with a beer that he'll divorce her and move home or or.. Charles will remove his titles or something?

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 02/11/2025 03:19

Totally normal in my bit of the US too.

Yes. We’re not going round pissed but I had a glass on wine at dinner. Should I not have looked after my children? Usually some people in our neighborhood give out beers. Halloween usually has a block party feel - everyone is out chatting and kids playing.

MamaToABeautifulBoy · 02/11/2025 04:08

Oh, do get a grip, dear.

Enjoying a glass of wine while children are present does not make someone a bad parent. Some of us are able to still be rational and responsible people after consuming a moderate amount of alcohol 🙄
