... I would change my name to Sarah York, by deedpoll. There's absolutely nothing stopping her!

I don't know if Windsor or Mountbatten-Windsor are "protected" names in some way, but York sure isn't.

If I was her I'd change my name to Cuntypops McFreeloader, get extensive plastic surgery, extremely intense psychotherapy, and a fucking job. 🤔😂

😂😂

I reckon that not only is more going to come to light from Virginia Guiffre’s biography but that he’s heavily implicated in the Chinese spy imbroglio and his involvement in China’s politburo, meeting high up officials etc.
I very much doubt he trekked over there just for fun actually, knowing him he probably did and I greatly suspect that the Chinese government has info on him that the UK government and the Palace are desperate to keep hidden.
I very much doubt he paid out for his flights, hotels etc.
The more I hear about him the more sickening he gets.

Yep, I agree with all of this.

Arlanymor · 19/10/2025 16:49

Did he do it to avoid associations with the Nazis? That's why they did it. And it was made up because they just went with the name of one of the castles. Windsor isn't an anglicisation of their German surnames... totally different situation surely?

Edited

It had nothing at all to do with the Nazis. They changed their name long before the Nazis existed.

Long before? WW1 is when they changed it. To counteract anti-Germanic sentiment. The Nazis didn't just come along in 1939, the build up didn't start with the Versailles Treaty. Those cogs were spinning for minimum 20 years previous.

Didn’t know that! What a farce the whole thing was. We might as well have stayed catholic. Would have saved a lot of bother with Ireland, France, Spain …

I think he was Anglo Catholic rather than Roman Catholic. He was Catholic but didnt want Rome telling him what to do not to divorce his wives. The Indian Catholics in Kerala are called something else I cant remember as the Catholic church was established by St Thomas rather than St Paul, the first Pope, so there are different but still Catholic churches. I have been to an Anglo Catholic church and they had the same prayer as the Roman Catholics iirc ( its been years since Ive said it in any church) "I believe in one Catholic and Apostolic church..."
I think it was Catherine Parr who was the fervent protestant and influenced Edward and Elizabeth, who were Protestant.

She was indeed - she was a convert and very zealous once she had decided what religious practices to follow.

TheGander · 19/10/2025 18:23

Thanks, this is interesting. I wonder if Henry 8 had regrets on his deathbed about having wrenched England away from Rome. And fear he was going to tell ( not to mention the 1000s of people who died because of his deeds).

Agree too, I suspect royal family has had sight of VG’s brother’s book and is trying to minimise damage.

Not defending PA or SF at all - they are odious grifters who deserve everything they get, but I do have a question as to why there is so much focus on PA, especially from American investigators, when you barely hear a word about all the other powerful people who associated with Epstein, visited his island etc. Why all the focus on him? Shouldn't everyone who had a hand in that happened to VG and others be held to account?

Edited

Interesting stuff in Private Eye about a certain Ms Barak who writes for the mail and is a mate of Ghislaine Maxwells. She’s been leaking a lot of stuff about SF, looks like the purpose is to draw conversation away from Trump and Maxwell. I think there’s a move, if not to rehabilitate Maxwell, at least to minimise her, and it’s coming from the White House.

Was the actual cause of VG's death revealed? I know it was reported as suicide, but the details are vague. I'm not looking for a blow by blow account, but wonder what method was used? Spidey feeling here.....

Ellmau · 19/10/2025 18:45

The reason changed LP's for Williams children was because under the 1917 ones only his eldest son would be HRH Prince. Which, given the changes to the primogeniture rules going through at the time, could have put them in the situation where they could have a daughter who was a future Queen titled as Lady, then a younger son as HRH Prince. Those changes were to avoid a potential massive sexism row. George would always have been HRH Prince as William's first born, Charlotte and Louis would have been lady and Lord until Charles was king.

And for the same reason I think in due course they'll have to change the rule about grandchildren via male sons being princes/princesses. Because it would be silly for Louis' future children to be HRH when those of Charlotte, who wwwwwould be ahead in the line of succession, weren't. eithr

I've often wondered why KC was so reluctant to do much about Andy until the S hit the F or was about to. What sanctions there were up to now were measly and did not keep A+S out of sight at all anyway.

Is KC squeaky clean enough to be the judge here? Maybe Andy has the goods on him and all the optics of removing titles (they have not been removed) is to convince us that something is being done (at last), whereas in fact not much has changed in reality. Smoke and mirrors.

KC took bags of cash from a Middle Eastern top man - fill in the details. CASH, I ask you!

KC was friends with known paedophiles, and his uncle Mountbatten was a father figure to him

KC was a blatant adulterer, and is now Head of the Church of England.

I honestly doubt there is one of the clan who has spotless hands.

You make it sound like he was a serial adulterer. I only know of Camilla, who he should have been allowed to marry in the first place. Unlike Diana!

Ellmau · 19/10/2025 18:46

Either all grandchildren of the monarch will be, or they will restrict it to the children of the heir.

I have a strong suspicion that William is going to change a lot with regards to titles etc when he gets the top job.

The Nazi party may have started in 1919 but were not a major political force in Germany until after the Wall Street Crash and the failure of Weimar to deal with the economic fallout. Hitler was not made Chancellor until 1933 and hadn’t secured his dictatorship until 1934. Right up until 1939 the British government hoped to avoid conflict with Germany. The anti German sentiment of WWI was nothing to do with the Nazis. It was the Kaiser’s Germany we fought in WWI.
I am not disputing that Windsor was a made up band due to wanting to remove the association to their Germanic heritage but it was absolutely nothing to do with the Nazis.

Tiredofbullsit · 19/10/2025 18:55

PoppysAunt · 19/10/2025 17:06

No, the NSDAP was founded in 1919.
They changed the family name from Saxe Coburg Gotha to Windsor in 1917, because of WWI.
German association, not "Nazi connections".

The Nicene Creed is commonly used by many Christians, including Protestant.

Yes, but of well known German origin, both from the Hanoverians and Prince Albert, and we were at war with Kaiser Wilhelm II who was George V's first cousin. The German family name was just embarrassing.

That was when German Shepherds were renamed Alsatians too :)

Im pretty sure William will kick Andrew and his missus out in the street when he takes the throne. Wills wont have to wait as long as his father did 😉 I do feel sympathy for Beatrice and Eugenie though, none of this is their fault and they must feel torn

I think if they had their wits about them, they might have questioned what's going on. They're now 35 and 37, so not exactly young. Beatrice brokered the deal with Emily Maitlis and listened to it - she must have questioned what was being said?.Where did all the money come from? Why were Ma and Pa so friendly with Epstein?.
