... I would change my name to Sarah York, by deedpoll. There's absolutely nothing stopping her!

I don't know if Windsor or Mountbatten-Windsor are "protected" names in some way, but York sure isn't.

Who is just like Zara?
Zara is the daughter of Princess Anne. She hasn't married royalty. She doesn't have a title because her parents chose for her not to have one.

Zara doesnt have a title because only the children of male children of the monarch gets a title. Her parents refused a title for her father, and that was the only way the children would get a title. It looks like they havent changed that little bit of sexism going forward so Charlottes children will not have titles unless they get then from their father but Louis children will. Despite her being higher up.

I know Andrew and Ferg have been exiled to their own house for Christmas but could you imagine how frosty and awkward it would be if they were all to be round the dinner table. Be like something out of high society Coronation Street.

I mean just compare him to Edward. He is an unassuming quiet man completely the opposite of Andrew.
Yes, he made a bit of a tit of himself with Royal Knockout when he was trying to be a thespian

I think he was in his early twenties then wasn't he. A time when everyone makes a tit of themselves so is more easily forgivable as it's a rite of passage. Less so in one's sixties.

Edited

Edward was a bit of a prat, him and Andrew were over indulged by the Queen. But I think Sophie's humble upbringing grounded Edward a bit, she worked because she wasnt born into money, had middle class values etc. Unfourtantely Andrew was less successful in a choice of wife and as we know the rest is history...

Also, this might sound ridiclous but I respect Sophie for having her kids in an NHS hospital like us plebs, she's not too posh for state healthcareGrin

I'm more interested in how Epstein extorted an email apology from Sarah F.
She's no fool despite her youthful indiscretions and was well know for her dislike of Epstein.

I think the question of Epstein blackmailing people needs reinvestigating. For someone to include so many influential and dissimilar people among his 'friends', it feels more and more likely to me.

Yes and I'm sure she I read she was either in the room or watching the monitor while her dad was being questioned about having sex with an underage, trafficked woman. I mean, why would you put yourself through that?!

VR was not underage.

She was 17 when the alleged sex occurred and it was in the UK, where the age of consent was and still is 16.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 19/10/2025 04:57

If 'Fergie' changed her name to 'York' she may become referred to as 'Yorkie',

...which might be a bit negative for her as the 'Yorkie' bar was marketed as being 'Not for Girls' and being 'Chunky'.

Why? It would draw even more attention to her greed & stupidity.

Supposedly the late Queen offered to make Mark Phillips an earl so that Anne's children would have noble titles, but Anne and Mark refused.

Yes I think that’s correct

Well known in her dislike for Epstein? He bank rolled her for years.

I only clicked on this thread because I was chatting to someone yesterday about how thoroughly bizarre people who get over invested in the goings on of the royal family are, and my goodness it's proved my point.

She was not well known for her dislike of Epstein at all. Where did you get that from?
Once she was caught out in taking money from him she pretended that, but then no time later she was cosying up to him again and calling him a dear supreme friend who had been so good to her family. That's hardly dislike of him is It? It is said that he gave her millions not thousands and she didn't want her money cut off.

I do agree that Epstein was a master manipulator and was probably blackmailing left right and centre. Every room in his NY mansion had CCTV apparently and there was massive room with a bank of screens monitoring

Not for sex trafficked victims, no.

I agree. What a ghastly person.
That "cash for access" was a particularly low point, she was actually filmed doing it!
She has no shame.

Wasn’t Sophie filmed doing that too?

Yes. The king who doesn’t want a pedophile (allegedly) using royal titles. How awful

Let's face it, Charles himself hasn't got a great track record when it comes to befriending paedophiles, has he 🤔.
They all make me sick, to be quite honest.

Yeah I meant to put young rather than underage (COVID brain strikes again) the fact that she was a trafficked young woman still stands though.

Yapper73 · 19/10/2025 07:26

IIRC she made lots of indiscreet comments, talked about politics (something the RF never do) and made a few bitchy remarks. I don't remember her offering cash for access to Edward, but it was over twenty years ago.

Yes, that's the point, she was a victim of trafficking.

Question: have you heard of Jeffrey Epstein and his empire of exploitation and trafficking?
We're not talking about flower sprinkles or lip gloss.

ARichtGoodDram · 19/10/2025 08:56

Wasn’t Sophie filmed doing that too?

No. Her business partner at the time said that organising meetings through his and Sophie's company sometimes meant you had access to Edward.

That was when the business was wound up and she stopped working in PR.

Her fake sheik sting was when she chatted about politics and political opinions that the royals aren't meant to be public about

NewAgeNewMe · 19/10/2025 09:28

Sophie and Edward on the face of it appear to have learnt valuable lessons. The Yorks not so much.

I think that's the point. They learned, they changed, they moved on.
Andrew and Sarah Ferguson? The entitlement and greed continued. Worse, they justified their relationship with and support for Epstein long after it was very clear what he did.

jumpingthehighjump · 19/10/2025 10:32

The Yorks didn't even try. After Sarah's grovelling apology for the fake sheikh (£500,000 now in my bank account and I will give you total access) and her grovelling apology for taking £15,000 from Epstein (when in fact it was millions and she was begging him for money all the time, and took her DDs to celebrate his release from prison for sex trafficking offences)
They are both proven to be full blown liars and grifters taking every penny from anyone who even looked at them.

Exactly. I don't think this is comparable to anything else. Effectively she was in debt to Epstein, he was bank rolling her. She and Andrew are completely mired in this sordid tale of greed, entitlement and exploitation.
Plus, they continuously lied about it.

At what point do Beatrice and Eugenie also become somewhat complicit? They were 19 and 20 during that visit. I know that families are complicated but they have publicly stuck by their parents for years. Beatrice even helped set up the interview!!

Admittedly this was on the DM website this morning, but they are saying that Sarah flew out to CELEBRATE Jeffery Epistine's release from prison and took B & E with her. But considering both were legal adults by that point I can only assume that they went willingly.

jumpingthehighjump · 19/10/2025 10:56

I just know my DDs (much older now) would've said... Mum, what has he been in prison for? Followed by Why are we celebrating his release. I'm not going!

Undoubtedly somewhere along the line, money/bribery would've been used to get B&E there.
