If I were Fergie...

... I would change my name to Sarah York, by deedpoll. There's absolutely nothing stopping her!

I don't know if Windsor or Mountbatten-Windsor are "protected" names in some way, but York sure isn't.

Windsor is made up, they are Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.

If I was fergie I'd go and live somewhere remote, and take to writing fiction under an assumed name.

Or go and visit my nephew and his wife in the USA. Give them some tips on living outside the Royal household. They have a massive house, I'm sure they could put me up. For a fee. Andy could come, but he'll probably get arrested. But Netflix might pay to stream us round the dinner table.

New Netflix special: A Really Royal Thanksgiving. 😁

Ex husband. Not husband. Why the hell she was allowed to hang around the royal family for nearly 30 years when she wasn't even married to one of them, I do not know!
The RF have brought this on themselves. Not only do they have Andrew to contend with (and there will be more to come out) but Sarah too which just should not have been.

KC was a blatant adulterer, and is now Head of the Church of England.

I'll be honest, I never understand why this one comes up. The Church of England was created by an adulterer.

H8 was a Catholic at the time of his death, and had a Catholic funeral. Just in case I suppose.

Didn’t know that! What a farce the whole thing was. We might as well have stayed catholic. Would have saved a lot of bother with Ireland, France, Spain …

My dad anglicised his surname when he came to the uk as did my maternal grandfather 20 years previously. I don’t consider my surname to be made up. It was to make my family’s life easier with an anglicised version of it.

I couldn't remember why they divorced when it's clear that they still consider themselves married to all intents and purposes so I had a quick Google and this was the first thing that came up,

In a 2007 interview, as to why they finalised their divorce she said, "I wanted to work; it's not right for a princess of the royal house to be commercial, so Andrew and I decided to make the divorce official so I could go off and get a job."

Strangely enough I can't ever remember her doing a proper job. Obviously didn't need to when your BFF is a millionaire pedophile whose easy with his money.

Did he do it to avoid associations with the Nazis? That's why they did it. And it was made up because they just went with the name of one of the castles. Windsor isn't an anglicisation of their German surnames... totally different situation surely?

TheGander · 19/10/2025 16:50

Anyway back to Fergie. I don’t care what she does as long as the taxpayer doesn’t foot the bill. The cupidity of the woman is jaw dropping . It’s all about money for her and Andrew, no matter how many “causes” they pretend to support.

NewAgeNewMe · 19/10/2025 16:51

No I was making a point (badly) that changing a name may not be for a made up reason. I still can’t make it properly (fibromyalgia brain fog 😢)

They'll probably get married again and she'll be Princess Andrew.

That would be hilarious!

Princess of the royal house

blooming heck - the grandeur so obvious there!

Absolutely. And the way she speaks it's like this Princess of the Royal House wanted to be like the common people. So she chucked the Prince and went and got a job in Boots.

Basically the Cinderella story in reverse 😂.

I know that not all names change are for made up reasons. This is a thread very specifically about the royal family, hence I commented on their change and what they literally did and I don’t understand why you take any exception to that. Names change for all sorts of reasons but that is not what this thread is about. It’s about what happened in a very specific situation.

Nazis existed in 1917, did they?

No, the NSDAP was founded in 1919.
They changed the family name from Saxe Coburg Gotha to Windsor in 1917, because of WWI.
German association, not "Nazi connections".

Or also, to show allegiance with the UK, over their German roots.

That's exactly why.
In fact, the last royal duke to lose his dukedom before Andrew did so because he fought for Germany.
He was Prince Leopold, grandson of Queen Victoria.
Later on, he did actually become a Nazi politician.

Not defending PA or SF at all - they are odious grifters who deserve everything they get, but I do have a question as to why there is so much focus on PA, especially from American investigators, when you barely hear a word about all the other powerful people who associated with Epstein, visited his island etc. Why all the focus on him? Shouldn't everyone who had a hand in that happened to VG and others be held to account?

I think it's precisely because he'll never face legal consequences.

It looks like there's a determination to make people pay with the leaked information here and there. But there's not, as they know they'll never get him into interview with the FBI.

RitaIncognita · 19/10/2025 17:32

Both Anne and Princess Alexandra were offered titles for their children, with and without titles for their husband, and declined.

I don't think the offer was for titles without titles for the husbands. The late Queen was very traditional, and reporting at the time suggested that she offered to take the same approach as she did with Princess Margaret in making Tony Armstrong-Jones an earl. Of course, she could issued LPs to give the children titles without doing that or she could have made Anne and Alexandra duchesses or countesses in their own right, which would have given their children titles.

Zippedydodah · 19/10/2025 17:34

FuzzyWolf · 18/10/2025 17:54

I can only imagine either something far worse is going to come out about Andrew or else he is giving up using his titles before they are taken from him and, by default, his daughters.

Charles seems to be tidying things up ready for William’s reign, which given he is still undergoing cancer treatment suggests it could be sooner than expected. Perhaps the general family belief was that, once monarch, William will forcibly remove the titles, which would impact Beatrice and Eugenie, and it was preferred this way.

I reckon that not only is more going to come to light from Virginia Guiffre’s biography but that he’s heavily implicated in the Chinese spy imbroglio and his involvement in China’s politburo, meeting high up officials etc.
I very much doubt he trekked over there just for fun actually, knowing him he probably did and I greatly suspect that the Chinese government has info on him that the UK government and the Palace are desperate to keep hidden.
I very much doubt he paid out for his flights, hotels etc.
The more I hear about him the more sickening he gets.

DiscoBob · 19/10/2025 17:37

If I was her I'd change my name to Cuntypops McFreeloader, get extensive plastic surgery, extremely intense psychotherapy, and a fucking job. 🤔😂

H8 was a Catholic at the time of his death, and had a Catholic funeral. Just in case I suppose.

Henry VIII was excommunicated (twice actually) when he broke with Rome; he did not die in communion with the Catholic Church. He was, however, certainly not Protestant. He wanted his cake and to eat it too: keep many Roman Catholic beliefs and rituals, but rule the Church in England as his own.

Indeed. He wanted to be a Catholic, but be in charge of the church in England.
