The royal family

Why is Meghan hated?

YourBrickTiger · 07/10/2025 13:26

I have very strong views about the Royals especially Camilla, however I am genuinely interested and want to find out more as to why Meghan Markle seems to be so hated. I'm asking in case there is something I have missed. I do read up as much as I can and watch shows from 'both sides' of the argument, but there is nothing that I have seen so far that warrants the level of sheer hatred geared towards her - I don't mean on here necessarily, but on social media in general. She cannot do ANYTHING without a swarm of people descending on her like vampires to tear her apart.

She isn't an adulteress, she's not a paedophile or sex offender, she isn't lazy, she seems to genuinely care about people in need.....and from what has been shown, she genuinely loves Harry and is just trying to make a life with him. He left the UK to start a life away from a nest of some awful people, his mother died when he was 12, his uncle is a sex offender, there is racism and a rigid set of rules within that family where he won't be king anyway so what is wrong with him leaving?

I'm not starting this to start an argument I am genuninely interested in why she is so rabidly disliked and why? Maybe I will start to feel differently if there is more of a reason but at the moment I cannot see one?

@BunnyLake If I'd suffered years of racial abuse then yes, quite possibly.

Can you provide some links ? Not the Compton one .

everychildmatters · 09/10/2025 08:41

@Mylovelygreendress You don't think she has? The first dual-heritage lady in TRF?

Mylovelygreendress · 09/10/2025 08:49

I am not saying she hasn’t suffered some racism however you claim she has suffered years and I asked for evidence .
Simple question .
First mixed woman but not first mixed race person in the RF .

Puzzledtoday · 09/10/2025 09:01

I really wouldn’t
ask questions like this unless you want to encourage Megan bashing. You like her, that’s fine.

But she didn't insult the Queen - at least not on purpose. Surely it was as clear as crystal that Meghan was mocking her own ability to perform a curtsey?

I disagree that was Crystal clear . Many did not see that. They saw it as her mocking the idea she had to curtsey. Many would agree with her on that why should one person curtsey to another.

Additionally lets not forget the fact Meghan was perfectly capable of doing a curtsey as she had done so on suit. So why would she mock herself? This is one of the times where I think she does herself no favours and cant "read the room" this would always backfire. Had she simply said something like.
'I felt very clumpsy doing it and felt like I messed it up but I got through it" this would have been a no conment situation.

When you hear other royal family members who married in speaking of the first time they had to do so they express feeling nervous and clumpsy but never do we see the over the top manner Meghan does it.

I can find you an interview where queen Mary of Denmark speaks of the first time she met the Danish Queen Margrethe. Her now husband had to teach her how to and the interviewer quips "you dont happen to have a video of him teaching you" all Mary states is. "I was nervous got through it I feel like I have got better at it" interview is in Danish .

She also did ballet and would have learned how to curtsy

MaturingCheeseball · 09/10/2025 09:19

Apparently her former friend Jessica Mulroney might be writing a book. I’d like to know exactly how Meghan hooked up with Harry, as H&M’s official narrative has more holes than my best jumper I’ve just got out of its storage bag.

On the subject of friends… Meghan seems to go through them like she does her staff. People at the wedding - gone. People not worthy of a wedding invite, now a dearest friend . All seems really flaky.

Livelovebehappy · 09/10/2025 09:24

I think it all started with hearts and diamonds. I thought she was a breath of fresh air initially. Beautiful couple. Then they decided to step away from the RF duties to live a more private life. Again, all good. Their choice taken in the best interest of family life. But then when they left for a ‘quiet and private’ life, they decided to do an interview with a high profile American chat show, disclosing lots of family issues, which should have been privately discussed and addressed with family. Airing it so publicly was beneficial to no-one other than organised to whip up hatred of the RF. they knew the RF weren’t in a position to publicly answer the claims being discussed. Because it’s something they don’t do. That’s when it all went wrong with the public. And the dislike isn’t targeted against just Meghan, although people focus on that because it feeds into their accusations of racism and misogyny. The dislike is aimed at both as a couple. They wanted to live a normal private life away from the UK press and the RF madness. Which was understandable. But it was all a lie. They wanted to leave and make money on the back of Harry’s family by selling interviews on them to the highest bidder.

How do you know Harry went to his family? From Harry? He who doesn’t have a particularly close relationship with facts by his own admission?

As for them making documentaries and appearing on Oprah to tell their story, that would be fine if their story had been accurate. But it wasn’t 🤷‍♀️

It’s just hearsay really isn’t it? Just because Harry said something happened it doesn’t mean it did, after all didn’t he admit that some stuff in Spare was not necessarily true versions of events.

She knew how to do a court/ballet curtsey. That’s not what you do to the monarch on a day to day basis wearing everyday clothes. Odd that she didn’t just copy everyone else, though.

Agree. I think even I could manage the sort of “bob” curtsy that they seem to do when they greet each other 😆

Think they were changing the rules when Charles became Monarch, so Harry would have been son of the monarch.
when E2 was Queen he wouldn’t have got title anyway.
think from memory it was in the Oprah interview.

Harry’s complaints were all about from his children’s birth not after Charles become king. The children were made Prince and princess after that point automatically. there were zero rules changes made aside for Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis and it has previously been explained why that particular change was made.

that change wasn’t relevant for their cousins

the Oprah interview has been proved to have been completely wrong.

I don’t hate Meghan, but I do dislike some of things the pair of them have said and done. I probably dislike Harry far more than Meghan. It was his family that the pair criticised on a global stage.

Again though, the criticism is valid. It maybe isn't right to have done it so publicly but the family's actions have been disgusting and I don't see why it is wrong to out that.

What actions ?

NewAgeNewMe · 09/10/2025 10:38

I disagree that the family’s actions have been disgusting.

It can’t have been that bad, if Harry said in their engagement interview, that the royals were the family that Meghan had never had.

However no one knows what goes on behind closed doors, so who really knows?

YourBrickTiger · 09/10/2025 10:39

Mylovelygreendress · 09/10/2025 10:35

What actions ?

Infidelity, violence, racism, getting away with breaking several laws, sex offences......please don't tell me you think these people are squeaky clean?

Disgusting in general, not just towards Meghan. They are a family who get away with literally anything, there's no getting away from that.

Agree. Don’t know why MM accepted that in PH. Don’t think their values are aligned at all.

Yes, @YourBrickTiger , you’ve just hoisted yourself with your own petard, there.

If there’s guilt by association and family relationships then Harry was right in there. I can’t imagine why the saintly Meghan gave Harry a second of her time, let alone consented to be walked up the aisle by an adulterer whilst observed by a whole bunch of criminals and racists. Beats me.

BrillantBriony · 09/10/2025 11:26

MaturingCheeseball · 08/10/2025 15:44

@BrillantBriony - look, the woman’s just not very nice. I think she and her Soho House crew homed in on Prince Thicko and then it turned out that royal living was less endless riches and outfits and more opening dreary old community centres in Wigan.

They didn’t bail for a quiet life in Canada (at which point I was with them) but for the high-handed and very cheeky half-in half-out glamorous bits only scenario.

Then they hot-footed it to California where Meghan at least thought she was going to be a celebredeee A Lister.

If we’re all so racist, how come very prominent poc and liberals in the US have now given them an incredibly wide berth? Here’s a clue: Meghan is not well liked by many people.

I used to work for a PE company just by St.James one of my colleagues was a very strong equestrian who would ride the royal stags, this colleague was also a childhood friend of an ex GF of one of the then Princes’s. She was absolutely disgusted by the wedding and made it very clear that the Royals hated Meghan too.

My DH is very good friends with a journalist who works for a tabloid that has constant Meghan stories. Next time they have a met-up I will join and ask some questions.

For me the one mistake Meghan made - forget the lying and the tit for tat (they all lie), but the one mistake she made was not having her family at that wedding. She should have filled that church up with her black family, made a sea of Black working class people as far as the eye can see; wear who you are loud and proud because then your showing the world stage that your colour is not your weakness. Of course some members of her family would have sold stories, had their 5 mins of fame, made some money, but why not. After the wedding she should have just quietly sat out the next few years. Imagine if Harry married an Indian girl - she would have flown her entire extended family over!

The moment she started hiding her family the press knew which buttons to press.
