I think he's going cap in hand to ask for money. I really hope he's not got the nerve to ask to come back!

So it seems that only about 45 minutes passed between Harry being photographed on arrival and his car leaving the premises. Given the size of Clarence House, and all the relevant formalities, including possible security checks, it's unlikely Harry spent more than about half an hour in the King's presence. That's really very little considering they've barely seen each other in the past 5 years. I also wouldn't be surprised if staff were present throughout. If I were Charles, I would want that.

I doubt much was discussed beyond somewhat awkward small talk.

I agree, I wonder if it descended into a row so was cut short?

I read that Harry had another appointment at 6 o'clock so they had limited time.

VivienneDelacroix · 10/09/2025 19:22

It must be very painful for both of them.
I strongly believe that our children owe us nothing and that we have to reflect on the mistakes we made as parents if our adult children turn away from us. As a parent I will always welcome my children into my life, always forgive them, and always reflect on my contribution to the people they become (good or bad).

I hope Charles is doing some of this reflection.

MrsLizzieDarcy · 10/09/2025 19:22

I hope it was some degree towards a personal reconciliation between an elderly unwell man and a son. Nothing more, nothing less.

Untailored · 10/09/2025 19:23

This is exactly why that family and everyone in it is totally fucked up. A son can’t go and see his father without photographers lying in wait, everyone discussing what it means and even a BBC breaking news alert to tell us all. Christ, what a way to live.

Indianrollerbird · 10/09/2025 19:25

stayathomer · 10/09/2025 19:19

So he’s going to meet his dad, the fact there’s interest in this honestly shows how sad (as in depressing) celebrity/ royal family culture is

It's the first item on the 6 o'clock news. The BBC clearly thinks it's an important current affairs story.

Theresabatinmykitchen · 10/09/2025 19:26

Wonder if Meghan will follow suit and pay her father a visit 🪽 🐷 🪽

wiminny · 10/09/2025 19:26

William is the prick. I don't care what went before, life is short and blood is thicker than water. All W will have is Anne, Eddie and Andy really until his kids grow up. So the future King, not the current one is the person to focus on now.

I am glad father and son met. Hope things have thawed a bit between them. Camilla is the bogey here though.

What a mad dysfunctional lot they all are in that gilded cage. At least H got out, and despite his big mouth has a lot of integrity for leaving the madhouse IMO. The rest of them continue to be well.... a bit odd to say the least of it.

wordler · 10/09/2025 19:28

I would assume there were photographers already there today, although there would definitely have been ways of meeting without being seen so there's an element of both sides not minding the meeting being known about too.

The test will be if Harry talks about it publically like in the TV interview he did before the Queen died, or via a third party disclosing it like after the Oprah interview.

diddl · 10/09/2025 19:28

life is short and blood is thicker than water.

Does that not apply to Harry?

I take the opposing view. I hope Harry is reflecting on what he and his wife have done to his family. Selling gossip on them for money, much of it evidentially factually untrue. The rest petty nonsense, with some significant and damaging accusations ie racism, how father is elderly his grandmother older, what he’s done for money and to make his wife happy, and out of sheer spite as he didn’t get his own way, is nothing short of shameful,

anyway it was short meeting, by the time he got in and sat down and left likely half an hour together, and Harry looks upset in the car. If he thought his uk charm offensive and charity donations would help ease him and his wife back in so they could cash in some more, then I suspect he was sadly mistaken, Charles is not simply his father, he is the head of state. And more to consider than his selfish grasping son and his wife.

allthemiddlechildrenoftheworld · 10/09/2025 19:31

@Justanotherdramalama hope he didnt offer him a house on a royal estate for his family to stay in!!! harry knows he needs to get back before charles pegs it!! wouldnt be allowed in if it was just william and kate! hopefully, charles will have heeded some of the vitriol from members of the public against harry's return!

You think William should just roll over and forget all the nasty things H and M have said about W and C ?

I don't believe I said it didn't. But who knows who is welcome to visit Adelaide House or wherever W is currently living now.

Maybe that's where H's six o'clock appointment is. That would be great!

Yes I do. In 50 years time no one will remember what all the shit was about if there is some rapprochement right now or very soon anyway. Someone has to forgive and forget and there's fault all around, so they could all hold hands together and sing Kumbaya.

allthemiddlechildrenoftheworld · 10/09/2025 19:35

@wiminny william is not a prick at all!! presumably, you have never had a broken family!! some breaks cannot be mended!!

Eh. No he’s left, and I also disagree with you. It does matter what comes before. Harry and his wife ripped thay family apart for money and to help them be famous.and out of spite as they didn’t get their own way. You don’t get to be abusive then cry but we are family so it doesn’t matter.

yeah, it matters, a matters a whole lot.

basinbasin · 10/09/2025 19:37

Why is Harry getting the blame for the cameras being there.

It's Mns, it's his fault for everything! 😆

Theresabatinmykitchen · 10/09/2025 19:38

I think Harry is getting quite desperate now, the clock is ticking loudly for him, not only does Charles have cancer so may not be King for as long as Harry expected but also the Wales children are growing up fast, soon he won’t be making the headlines, he is thick but not so thick that he knows once William is King and the Wales children are of age it’s game over for him, there will be absolutely no way back, he’s toast.

ShesTheAlbatross · 10/09/2025 19:38

I disagree.

Not about William, I’ve no idea whether he’s a prick or not. Just generally, I don’t think that someone being your sibling means you have to accept whatever treatment they want to give. I’m speaking generally, not about whatever happened between William and Harry, because I’ve no idea. I just think no one is owed forgiveness, and “but we’re family” is used a lot by people who behave badly and don’t want to deal with the consequences.

Sunholidays · 10/09/2025 19:38

I'm sure Harry has apologised to his father for all the stupid things he's done. That's the least he can do. Then go to the US and never come back (please).

Really ? The Abdication in the 1930s is still talked about - nearly 100 years ago !
Diana is still frequently discussed nearly 30 years after her death .
I doubt if the public ( and family) forget H and M’s behaviour.

Gall10 · 10/09/2025 19:40

Frankly my dears… I don’t give a damn!
