I think he's going cap in hand to ask for money. I really hope he's not got the nerve to ask to come back!

Probably more likely that Charles doesn’t have that much longer left to live and both want to be on better terms before that happens. It’s all quite sad really.

Indianrollerbird · 10/09/2025 18:45

I think it's very important that Charles has a personal reconciliation with Harry before Charles passes away (let's hope that isn't any time soon), so that Harry can't complain he was kept away from his father in his final years. Charles should not say anything to Harry that will break any confidences with William/Catherine/ Camilla/Sophie/Edward/Anne/Tim/palace staff/HM Government and/or leave William/HM Government with a mess to deal with when the former is king. Topics of discussion should remain in the ballpark of the weather and the price of haggis. Harry should never come back as a working royal: he has shown himself to have no loyalty, discretion or class, appears to be mentally unstable and is an admitted drug user, all of which should disqualify him from royal life. His father is of course at liberty to leave his darling boy substantial wonga in his will. No doubt Harry is sufficiently well advised on Californian matrimonial law, and the point in a marriage at which such an inheritance will become community property.

Don’t be ridiculous. He just gave over £1m to charity. KC is trying to stop being a dogshit father… don’t disturb him

He's just donated over a million to one of his charities. He isn't on universal credit ... He's fine

Poor Harry 🎻

What a tough life he has had.

Well, he made sure the cameras were there to capture his arrival and now his departure.

Royals are perfectly capable of doing things on the quiet when they want, but Harry didn't want.

Seems it was a very brief meeting so I doubt anything of substance was discussed.

Or the palace did...
...

10 years apparently, @Indianrollerbird

I'm no lawyer, but had it explained by someone who is that in California 10 years is the point where a spouse can go for long term maintenance - though I don't know if this would also apply to sharing any inheritance

In any case, with the sort of legal advice they can afford I'm sure there'll be ways to keep the ££££ out of a spouse's hands if that's what they want to do

Edited to add I'm not sure why anyone's wondering who rang the media; for something like this I expect they've had someone in place all day

Jesus 🙄

Like lots of other men the King could live for years with his cancer.

Middlemarch123 · 10/09/2025 18:55

This will go against the grain, but I see the bigger picture. An elderly father who is poorly, and an estranged son. That’s it. If today’s meeting is a start to reconciliation, what on earth is wrong with that? They are royal, I know. Dad is King, I know. Son has behaved badly, I know. Majority of people don’t like son’s wife…so what. If so many people want to mock their meeting, doesn’t it say more about them than father and son?

Sounds like a quick cuppa and leave he wasn't even there an hour. I imagine it was brief and civil.

Fluffyholeysocks · 10/09/2025 18:56

Let's hope it's a reconciliation between Charles and Harry and nothing more. There's no appetite for him to return and carry out duties for the RF. Meghan wont want to come to the UK, William doesn't want a relationship atm and I can't imagine Camilla or Anne are too enthusiastic either. So I think it'll just be a polite bridge building exercise and no great change to the wider family dynamics.

OtherS · 10/09/2025 18:57

I can't see how he can come back to being a working royal, nobody's going to be very impressed if he rocks up to open their library etc. I assume when we see pictures of him being warmly welcomed like in the old days, it's very much staged - and he's paying a great deal of money for that reception. But unless he starts donating millions to members of the public to smile indulgently as he performs his 'service', I can imagine a lot of very blank faces and the odd boo. He can obviously move back as a private citizen, but would his wife fancy that? It would certainly suggest they've totally failed in America. Or are things so bad now that they're out of options?

Thissickbeat · 10/09/2025 18:57

I think the cameras were camped out anyway. He was always likely to appear in the 3 days he is over.

Cynic17 · 10/09/2025 18:57

I just hope that it made the King happy to see his "darling boy". That's all that matters.
But if Harry shares any details of the meeting with the press, then he's toast.

Justanotherdramalama · 10/09/2025 19:00

@OtherS I do think they are now out of options and they're grand plan hasn't materialised. In all honesty I wouldn't put it past H&M to think they could swan back like nothings happened and become working Royalty again. Hopefully it was just father and son catching up on private matters.

I hope so too and they both had a good time and have a plan to keep in touch/see each other more often. Really hope I am wrong but wouldn't put it past H for leaks in the next few days. Call me old fashioned but no family should behave in the manner H&M have let alone Royalty. Private things should remain private not for all to read or hear about.

He could, and I hope he does, but it is possible he doesn’t have long left. I find it more likely that this is the reason that they have met rather than Harry has gone to ask for money, as the OP suggested.

CaroleLandis · 10/09/2025 19:10

I hope Charles gives him a bollocking.

IcedPurple · 10/09/2025 19:11

So it seems that only about 45 minutes passed between Harry being photographed on arrival and his car leaving the premises. Given the size of Clarence House, and all the relevant formalities, including possible security checks, it's unlikely Harry spent more than about half an hour in the King's presence. That's really very little considering they've barely seen each other in the past 5 years. I also wouldn't be surprised if staff were present throughout. If I were Charles, I would want that.

I doubt much was discussed beyond somewhat awkward small talk.

meercat23 · 10/09/2025 19:12

I hope we hear absolutely nothing about the meeting. I hope Harry in particular says nothing at all about it. That would do more than anything he could say to show he wants to rebuild trust

NewAgeNewMe · 10/09/2025 19:13

If Charles had his treatment today he’d likely be very tired and maybe 30 minutes was all he could manage.

Sounds almost identical to their meeting in 2024. I wonder if ABC News are lined up?

Tubestrike · 10/09/2025 19:16

I wonder if Camilla was there or did she stay in Scotland.

It would be beyond humiliating though. I can't think of any reason they could give for coming back that wasn't an admission of total failure. I can't imagine even they're brazen enough to try and pretend they're back by public demand! He probably does just want to see his dad, and of course Charles wants to see his son. Wonder how it feels to be back in palaces though - surrounded by free security! He may well be missing home.

stayathomer · 10/09/2025 19:19

So he’s going to meet his dad, the fact there’s interest in this honestly shows how sad (as in depressing) celebrity/ royal family culture is
