Media vs. Reality: The Royal Meeting No One Cares About

It makes little difference if he meets his father. His role won’t change, and the monarchy or public won’t be affected, yet the media keeps spinning it as if it matters — even though the public doesn’t care.

Prince Harry 'to meet with King Charles' when he returns to UK

Reconciliation is 'within reach' between the Duke of Sussex and his father following an informal peace summit involving Buckingham Palace officials.

He is nowhere near the top story in either the DM or BBC . In the DM he is further down than Katie Price also Maureen Lipman’s wedding !

Good for Maureen Lipman. Lovely that she is getting married again at 79. She looks great.

Doesn't she? Such a happy story as well.

His team should have budgeted more time for traffic as the strike was well publicised.

I guess he must miss the competence of the men in grey!

It will give him something else to complain about.

The Tube drivers timed their strike just to screw him over, don't you know?

smilesy · 09/09/2025 20:33

Why £1.1 million? Why not just a round million? Why the extra £100,000 🤔

They did it deliberately. Is there anyone who has such a tough time as Harry?

I can’t put my finger on why it does not feel genuine?

I suppose 95% 'expenses' allowance for Archewell, questions over reportedly heavy Invictus 'expenses' (that word again!), the untraceable disappearance of charitable funds into Harold's private travel initiative might be enough to raise reasonable doubt on whether he's personally forking?

ETA Where is Mr Lownie when we need him all over again? 😉

Yes I thought that might be the case, but he’s donated to Children in Need, a British charity based in Britain. Why would he do that in dollars? Just seems a bit odd 🤷‍♀️

Isn’t Tom Bower writing another book about H and M ?

Just thought, that can’t be right. £1m dollars is less than £1m 🤔

eta I suppose it could be 1.5m dollars. Still seems odd to do that with a British charity though

Why tf is he announcing this? So crass. It’s clearly not about the recipients, just another ungainly attempt to rehab his image.

And of course he made sure we all know about it. Probably a tax dodge.

I suspect itlll be someone else’s money somewhere along the line! Probably Tyler Perry who has been nothing but generous but treated like a schmuck…. I’m site
things started out well, the help was sought and given but the distance,
well people change
the narrative, but the actuality of it is that one side takes and one side gives … too much … then it collapses!

It's like the Windsor estate and Sandringham estate isn't it? A variety of properties and different 'bits' of the family often have their own base. They can meet up as a large group but also have some space from each other.

A bit like having families within an extended family having different houses at Centreparcs.

Hummingbirdtree · 10/09/2025 07:24

Mylovelygreendress · 09/09/2025 08:45

Not sure that is true . I have a relative who works at Balmoral and , although very discreet , would contradict that.

That’s good to know.

Lifestooshort71 · 10/09/2025 07:26

Further to KC and whether he's bothered about having contact with A&L - MOH has a 3-yr old GC who lives 250 miles away but he's only travelled to see the family once. He's been in the area on business, I've tried to facilitate visits but his answer is always 'I know they're OK which is good enough'. He says my GC are his GC as he's helped raise them (we've been together 25yrs). Anyway, perhaps KC has the same attitude - he knows they're OK but he doesn't 'know' them and the 3 he has here are quite enough for him.

Actually applying the same logic, Charles has his step-GC through Camilla’s DC. Plenty to be going along with, without adding two more unknowns into the mix.

Thedom · 10/09/2025 07:58

Isnt it rumoured one of the reasons Camilla kept her own separate home is so she could have her kids and grandkids around without causing any disturbance to Charles.

I think William’s kids are so lucky to have the Middletons as grandparents, they seem to be very engaged and adore their grandkids. I think Charles is a different type, happy to see them when he does, but won’t be popping over to play board games or build Lego with them.

How do you know that?
People have private lives. Not everyone shares every detail of what they do.

Thedom · 10/09/2025 09:15

from the documentary when he turned 70.

” Prince William says he wishes his father could spend more time with his grandchildren, Prince George, five, Princess Charlotte, three, and Prince Louis, six months.

Appealing to Charles to slow down, William says, “I would like him to have more time with the children. . . . Having more time with him at home would be lovely, and being able to play around with the grandchildren. Because when he’s there, he’s brilliant. But we need him there as much as possible.”

Camilla said the grandkids, I assume hers as well, love him reading to them.

I could imagine him taking them on long walks when they are in Balmoral though.

MissFenellaPrism · 10/09/2025 09:35

He was referring to Charles' workload, and the fact that he always had something on the go.
Nothing to do with Charles not wanting to see his grandchildren. In fact, William was quite positive about him.

Yes, he was positive about him when he saw his grandchildren—but at that time, he clearly didn’t see them often. He even missed George’s first birthday celebration, which the late Queen attended. Maybe things have changed now that they’ve moved to Windsor and Charles spends a few days there these days.
