Andrew doesn't have the money for it's upkeep, so maybe if it's deteriorating, KC can claim that the terms of the lease are broken.

Ooh, that does sound like an interesting read — though I suspect I’d be throwing the book at the wall more than once thanks to that pompous twat. I’ve always wondered how four children raised under the same roof turned out so differently. And honestly, I’m surprised Philip ever let him get away with that kind of behaviour.

Andrew is not like his siblings in looks, demeanour, manners, so perhaps Philip didn’t feel too responsible for his behaviour? she said, darkly - I remember the disrespectful way in which he spoke to his Nanny, whilst still a child, his loud leery ‘look at me’ ness and the disappointment that hedidn’t marry Katherine Stark, instead his mirror image, his number one fan.

NewAgeNewMe · 02/08/2025 16:29

God he sounds like a vile man. Even more surprising to me is that Boris Johnson (another whose behaviour I really dislike), couldn’t stand him either. So Andrew must be way worse!

I’d imagine the book is well researched and would have had lawyers go through it with a toothcomb (?). It will be accurate I’m pretty sure.

edit:- yes there are rumours @mauvaiseherbe

Mylovelygreendress · 02/08/2025 14:20

I am somewhat surprised that Prince Philip didn’t take Andrew to task about his boorish behaviour. By all accounts he was quick to raise issues with Charles .

Has anyone read up on Andrew Lownie? I had never come across himat all shame but will seek out his work now- what a brave man.

The title of his York book encapsulates everything we think and feel - ‘Entitled’

Absolutely. That's the nub of it with Andrew.

nowitsmetime · 02/08/2025 16:45

I am not surprised, every thing I've ever read or seen about the Royal Family always mentions how he was the golden child of the Queen and Prince. I suspect because he wasn't the heir, they instead let him run riot and totally indulged him.

Noseyoldcow · 02/08/2025 16:48

I’m no fan of Boris Johnson, but I laughed when I read about a lunch meeting he had with Andrew - Lownie claimed that Johnson said following the conversation: "I’m the last person to be a republican but, f**k, if I ever have to spend another lunch like that, I soon will be."

I’ve often wondered why Charles can’t evict Andrew, I’m guessing it’s because Andrew knows where the figurative bodies are buried, I would imagine Charles doesn’t want them excavated as it was reported a while back Andrew wanted to do his own book, I don’t see William worrying about that though, he would probably operate the digger.

I could be wrong here ?! But I’m sure the answer is rather more boring bigwilly, I believe Andrew has a lease that isn’t up yet , so Charles cannot turf him out because the law wouldn’t allow it , I think he was hoping Andrew would agree to leave but obviously this didn’t work out!

He was most probably the golden child of the queen. Not so sure if he was the golden child of Prince Philip though. As I & mauvaiseherbe said, there are rumours…

I preordered Entitled some time ago. Andrew Lownie is a respected historian https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Lownie.

I am sure the DM will publish some of the more salacious details , but in an interview I heard him saying he has dug ( in as far as he is able) into the York's finances - & that I am interested in ( eg SouthYork ? 😂) . I've read his books on Guy Burgess , the Mountbattens and Edward VIII and he does have credible references for his points. But even for those there were documents he was not allowed access to.

So I'll see come August 14th but I am hopeful of it being a well researched book & not just tittle tattle.

I am very interested in the Yorks finances...
It's all very shady.

SeagullFreeZone · 02/08/2025 16:54

Who made the decision that documents relating to his work - I use that word loosely- as UK Trade Envoy will remain sealed?

jeffgoldblum · 02/08/2025 16:54

diddl · 02/08/2025 16:08

Malcolm Barker, who worked at Buckingham Palace, remembered how Andrew was ‘for ever dragging the worst bunch of tarts up to dine with his mother, each seeming to compete with the previous for lack of brains.

Well if this is true, more fool her if she put up with it!

He sounds completely out of control & answerable to no one & no recourse for staff that he was vile to.

True but Malcom barker isn’t exactly covering himself with glory while referring to women as “worst bunch of tarts”!

His book Traitor King on Edward VIII is superb so I expect the same notions book tbh.

edit: the same on this book

no idea where notions came from 😬

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 02/08/2025 16:56

The problem for the Palace is there’s nothing in that extract that seems shocking or unlikely. There might be some exaggeration, but everything feels like something he’d say or do.

Please tell me the rumours 😂

I am intrigued, I always thought Philip adored him and his 'manly' antics!

I don't know how credible this website is , so I can't confirm its veracity , but see below. Others may have a better idea.
