I've never started a thread here before, but I thought some people might be interested in this take on the story by a PR podcast I listened to yesterday (started listening to this podcast as I know very little about PR!).

It would be good to know if any of the resident PR people agree.

Charlotte Griffiths on the latest Palace Confidential from the DM. I haven't watched it yet, so don't know what she's going to say. Looks like they will be trying Meghan's wine as well.

According to Charlotte there is a need to arrange diaries so Harry doesn't overshadow and the example is Angola and Camilla birthday. The most Camilla does is post a picture and it's not like the date changes. Charlotte couldn't give her sources for obvious reasons but providing all of Harry's reasoning.

Does anyone really care about Camilla's birthday though? Or about Harry's latest "charity" stunt?

And again, surely something like this could easily be done via email or Zoom? No need to fly across 8 time zones.

It was one of her examples, the other was the need for Harry to have a relationship with his father because of his illness. For the person who broke the story she was Harry centric. Again it was Catherine as the key to heal the brothers relationship but no mention that it was the treatment of Catherine as to why William wants nothing to do with him.

RandyRedHumpback · 17/07/2025 21:31

Yes I thought Charlotte Griffith was a sneaky piece of work making Catherine being kind the key. Leaving the inference that it would be an unkindness not to support a reconciliation rather than self protection. We’ve heard this before in the bottom feeder US tabloids the Sussexes like to leak to. Catherine holding all the cards. Subtext, Catherine the bitch who is stopping Harry returning to the fold. At least Richard Eden was firmly against it all.

RandyRedHumpback · 17/07/2025 21:36

And the scheduling thing is ridiculous. The RF are conducting the business of the state. They don’t need to check their diaries for clashes with a social media wannabe influencer and a drug addled, pay to play philanthropist. Jumped up pair of twerps. The papers like the DM could perhaps take some responsibility about what they choose to cover. Sat there waxing lyrical about Sophie’s visit to the Balkans, while they hardly mentioned it in their pages.

This really annoys me, Rebecca English is always going on what great work Sophie does, always with the caveat that sadly she doesn’t get the publicity, without a touch of irony!

Interesting that H needs a relationship with his df because of his illness but M’s father had a stroke last year and has recently moved to the Phillipines because of the cheaper cost of living but M feels no need to check on him.

I’ve been avoiding Palace Confidential because I didn’t want to listen to Charlotte Griffiths tooting her horn for Harry, she’s got a nerve placing the responsibility on Catherine, I’m so sick of the victims of Harry and Meghan being expected to ‘be kind’ how dare she place that on Catherine after everything she has been through these past few years.

Surely it is upto Meghan if she wants a relationship with her father it is not Harry’s decision to make.

Glad to hear Richard was having none of it.

It’s utterly baffling that the Palace are taking part in this nonsense, honestly why they are giving these two any airtime at all is beyond me and it just makes them look weak and frankly a bit pathetic.

With the addition of what the Sussexes and some of their supporters have put her through as well. It’s bullying to expect Kate to meekly accept them back in the fold.

So much is made of the father and son and I get it but Charles was also a son. A son who watched Harry go onto Oprah whilst Phillip was extremely ill and will know the impact of what Harry did had on the late Queen. There is nothing to suggest that history will not repeat itself.

bluegreygreen · 17/07/2025 22:24

No mention of course, with all the talk of 'scheduling', that the story of the reconciliation talks was leaked to clash with Wimbledon.

Or that the papers make their own decisions whether to post a picture of Camilla on her birthday or Harry doing (yet another) walk in Angola.

How true.

StartupRepair · 17/07/2025 23:36

For William, Harry coming back is all risk (to the family and the institution) and no benefit. For Harry it is all benefit to be back inside the tent.
Hope Anne is giving Charles wise counsel. She won't forget what was done to her parents.

@Rhaidimiddim hi, so he took the wine to and from the meeting. Yet a podcast linked to here suggested taking the wine to the meeting could indicate he was a guest of the other two. But surely if that was the case he’d have taken two bottles with him and left without them.

It’s all bonkers 🙈

He was ambushed so he said screw this and took the wine back.

What he should have done was order tea to the balcony. Then when he saw the pap, he could have lurched in horror, accidentally pushing the table and tea on Meredith. Tobyn could then have packed off her in a cab to change.

Typos.

The commenters don't like Charlotte and are very frank about it.

There was a great article in the NY Post yesterday praising M's wine. Commenters started accusing the Post of taking $ for the article.

My favorite post suggested that Meghan was repackaging $2 Trader Joe wine, inspired by the pretzels.

Lots of celebrities do charity work and it rarely makes the papers. Harry is deluded if he thinks his pap walk in Angola is higher status than, say, Angelina Jolie visiting a refugee camp. In fact I have more respect for her charity work than his at this point.

Ohpleeeease · 18/07/2025 06:24

Even Charlotte Griffiths struggled to defend H in the post recent PC episode. I wonder if she’s just been told to provide balance by the MoS and doesn’t actually believe half of what she says.

PoppysAunt · 18/07/2025 06:33

The minefield pap walk. Just no. Harry needs to learn to let his mother go and forge a positive life with his wife and children and not try to replicate the past.

Edited

She was slightly more critical of Harry than I expected.
With regard to the discussion about clashes of events , Harry and Meghan know exactly what dates Wimbledon, Trooping the Colour, Birthdays are, they shouldn't have to be told , many, many people predict that they will release something on these days ,it's very much done on purpose.

simpsonthecat · 18/07/2025 07:12

I find it very odd that the couple can't do anything during Wimbledon fortnight, any royals birthdays, trooping of the colour etc. for fear of upsetting the royal family. There will always be some date they will be told off for, and if Harry is asking for dates to avoid, that's a good thing surely (if that's what he is doing)
Why are earth does it matter? People will read what they want to read in the media, and surely the royal family are assured of pictures and coverage anyway.

Yes, I agree, and I wonder if the RF bother about that at all. H&M have made themselves so irrelevant, I can't see that it matters.

The only royal I saw on the front page of any newspaper yesterday was Camilla. I can’t remember which paper. I just glanced as I walked past. Ultimately the newspapers pick what they think readers want and H is becoming very boring.
