I've never started a thread here before, but I thought some people might be interested in this take on the story by a PR podcast I listened to yesterday (started listening to this podcast as I know very little about PR!).

It would be good to know if any of the resident PR people agree.

I don’t think a man who doesn’t know where penguins actually live is someone who should be considered an authority on exactly where ducks should live!

it was obviously not for the benefit of the ducks at all ! , either he didn’t want wildfowl on his property that he’s not allowed to shoot or it was an excuse to Cosy up to Oprah .

Probably both of those things Jeff, as well as it will have been too good of an opportunity to pass up for her Insta content too.
Definitely not for the benefit of the ducklings!

MaturingCheeseball · 22/07/2025 10:22

Ducks do poo quite a bit so that might not look terribly aesthetic on one’s manicured lawn. Heaven forfend a large flock of Canada geese touch down in Montecito - those guys know how to make their lavatorial presence felt!

My neighbours have a family of Canada geese nesting in their pond at the moment (all but one of the hatchlings have survived the foxes, so mother and father geese chose their location well). They are very noisy birds too - lots of honking!

I love all waterfowl but geese are the absolute best!

But - they don’t half poop everywhere.

Agree I think they saw the opportunity for some drama/ content and by involving Oprah more views than they would get on their own. Pathetic and cruel.

In other news, I watched Kinsey Schofield last night. She had Niall Whatsit from the Heritage Foundation on. Apparently they are still plugging away at the Harry Visa matter and the full release of the documents. And are also now calling for the Congressional Oversight Committee to investigate the political activities of the Sussexes. In particular, a $250k donation to Ashley Biden at around the same time as the visa case was being heard. The Aspen Institute was also mentioned.

And then there's another delightful Channel 5 documentary coming out where a lipreader had looked at some exchanges between royals at various events. From what I have heard, not putting the Sussexes in the greatest of lights.

And then lots of commentators turning on the royal rota for all the articles making William the central roadblock to Harry's return and being critical of that (if indeed it's the case). There's something weird going on at the moment.

Yes very suspicious articles out lately!
it’s very hard not to think something is about to come out isn’t it?
call me pessimistic but at this point I’m thinking even if something terrible comes out somehow they will both slither out of it!
between the pair of them , there is enough shite to get multiple people cancelled but still here they still are!
someone ( or someone’s) important and powerful is protecting them !
who though?
why?
for what ends?

I think that's really unfair. They are essentally invading their privacy at what might be moments of stress. I hope they didn't do this for the Queen's funeral.

Do lipreaders have codes of conduct?

From what I have seen, it's royal/public events where they know that cameras are present and that they will be on camera. One is the Remembrance Day service in 2018. I don't know about lip readers and codes of conduct, but it's an interesting case for the privacy lawyers - and I assume Channel 5's lawyers have been all over it. I doubt working royals can claim invasion of privacy while they are carrying out public duties in public.

Were H & M responsible for traumatising waterfowl?

No but I did hear they accidentally stepped on a ladybird though 😂

They rehomed ducks because they didn't have the right environment

Edited

They illegally moved ducks and traumatized them. They should have reached out to a wildlife organization. The ducks would have been re-homed within 24 hours correctly. I was so upset listening to Oprah talking about how they chased that traumatized mother duck that I've decided to completely boycott her.

Valentine Low - the man who broke the news of Meghan's KP bullying in Courtiers - is the one that has me scratching my head at the moment. He was shilling for reconciliation both in print and on the Sun royal podcast - on the latter, he looked most uncomfortable.

It could well just be pre-Summer journalistic madness. Not much royal gossip over the holidays, so pile it all on now for talking points during the lean months.

JSMill · 22/07/2025 12:11

Isn’t it awful that someone saw a mother duck and her ducklings losing their way as an opportunity to post on Individual rather than trying to do what is right for the animals. Truly disgusting.
@HonoriaBulstrode you are right about the invasion of privacy but I don’t think I will be able to resist the lip reading documentary!

Yes ! Very odd backtracking!
if I was inclined to believe such things… it does make you wonder if someone has been at him!?

It's pretty disgusting how some people want to minimise this. The mother duck clearly knew what she was doing deciding the Monteshitshow stream was a suitable habitat for her and her chicks. I can't help feeling pp's comment that they didn't want duck shit and noise is probably true. Forcing the poor things into a car, and frightening the mother so she separated herself from the chicks at the first opportunity to escape (because Harry is a fucking moron), is not a laughing matter.

BemusedAmerican · 22/07/2025 12:18

The Vintage Read just did a great show about leaks and a hostile palace insider. Lots of commenters are boycotting Charlotte Gifford.

I saw the Heritage Society interview. I thought I heard Kinsey mention something about Harry and small news outlets. If anyone watches that interview, can you let me know if I misheard? I'm going to rewatch tonight.

Don't they do that in an attempt to lead the threat away from their offspring?

Normally!
but usually the threat isn’t holding the ducklings hostage in a cardboard box!
and definitely doesn’t drive them to another place in a car.

I don't think so @HonoriaBulstrode . I think they are quite protective and sort of shield the chicks and get aggressive at anyone approaching them. But if she was scared, and couldn't protect her chicks because they were already in active danger/captured, she'd have legged it. I don't think Mother Nature equipped ducks to deal with stupid entitled prince holding your chicks in an SUV.

Oh, that lip-reading doc was classic!

H & M are sitting waiting for a Remembrance Day service to start. Meghan says to H “You should take advantage of this situation “ and he looks dumb and says “What, tonight(or “now”, or similar)?”. Then he says “You know this is the end?” And M replies “I know”. He looks confused, stressed and miserable throughout and she has a Mona Lisa smile.

You couldn’t make it up - there relationship and history in a nutshell.

KS said she has heard that Harry is "working with people to buy up smaller publications". She's also said in the past that she knows he is on SM under a different name.

I will have a listen to the Vintage Read. I always value her commentary, and she's getting quite exasperated with it all, judging by her recent output.
