I've never started a thread here before, but I thought some people might be interested in this take on the story by a PR podcast I listened to yesterday (started listening to this podcast as I know very little about PR!).

It would be good to know if any of the resident PR people agree.

It was actually Charles who made the comment, not Catherine.

Made what comment? What was actually said, and when? Because what we seem to have is Scobie claiming he didn't include in his book something which Meghan told him which Harry told her about something which may have been said by someone at varying times which Harry now says didn't happen in the way it was reported. So what did happen?

BemusedAmerican · 21/07/2025 14:13

Harry seems to be very bad in times of crisis. There was one scene - I think it might have been the Netflix docu - where he described texting to Thomas Markle, who at that time was recovering from surgery. Thomas stopped responding, and Harry said. something like "I knew then that we had lost him."

Whatever Thomas's faults, the poor guy was seriously ill. Why not wait a few days and then call him? Who wants to deal with constant texts when recovering from surgery? Especially from someone thst you've never met in person?

Weepixie · 21/07/2025 14:23

Before they did what they did - maybe, just maybe

I think it was made perfectly clear by the late Queen just what she thought of Meghan when we saw the look on her face in the Chapel. I’m sure you can recall the one.

wordler · 21/07/2025 14:24

It’s interesting that the next day when all the other grandchildren arrived at Balmoral to pay their respects - they attended a church service and then stopped to look at the flowers at the gates of Balmoral but none of them had their partners there.

I wondered at the time if it was simply their way of managing numbers, but now I suspect it might have been managing Harry.

It's the new PR company. Their motto is disrupt, derail, destroy.

Limit your responses and suggest that people check prior threads - treat them as a FAQ.

I suspect this one will be gone by the end of the year.

By this logic, can we assume those defending the monarchy are Palace PR?

Profhilodisaster · 21/07/2025 14:34

I think Harry just doesn't understand 'life' full stop . He seems incapable of reading the room.

Weepixie · 21/07/2025 14:41

LimeNotLemon · 21/07/2025 12:32

Lol no thanks. I have stated my opinion but there’s no point arguing with people who believe the tabloids.

Who needed tabloids when we had so much straight from the haverin cuddy himself in Spare. Oh and let’s not forget what we heard from the other haverin cuddy via Omid Scobie.

It sounds like he was told not to bring Meghan as Kate wasn’t going and despite wanting to he accepted that in the interest of optics. What would you have wanted him to do?

This is what Harry had to say about it. He was arguing to have her there and only gave up the fight when he was told Catherine wasn’t going to be there.

“He [Charles] said I was welcome at Balmoral, but he didn't want... her. He started to lay out his reason, which was nonsensical, and disrespectful, and I wasn't having it."

Harry clapped back at his dad's disparaging remarks about Meghan, snapping:

"Don't ever speak about my wife that way," reports Aberdeen Live.

He goes on, illustrating Charles' flustered response: "He stammered, apologetic, saying he simply didn't want a lot of people around. No other wives were coming, Kate wasn't coming, he said, therefore Meg shouldn't. Then that's all you needed to say."

What made you suddenly join this thread @LimeNotLemon ? I’ve been here on these threads for years, where have you popped up from with such strong convictions and demands of regular posters who have also been on these threads for years? Why the sudden interest? It’s certainly not organic as you are completely new, other posters have formed their views over years of watching the story unfold and commenting and discussing on here, so come on do tell, we are all ears, oh and please don’t come up with the old chestnut of you were peeling carrots and just stumbled across these threads as that one got old really quickly.

Why would i need to justify to you why I post on any thread? Lol at the entitlement.

I suggest we stop engaging with the bad faith poster. She clearly doesn't have a clue what she's talking about, and is on a wind up.

Thedom · 21/07/2025 15:08

Sorry, cross posted with you @RandyRedHumpback , so glad we have Harry’s own words to dispel any doubt about Meghan wanting to, and expecting to be there, Harry confirms it was all about Catherine.

Funny how some brand new posters have very similar writing styles to ones who disappeared after Kategate .

Oh, wow - that extract is shocking.

As someone who's never read Spare, except in bits on the net, and who wouldn't willingly line Harry's pocket by buying it, I've always suspected it would be awful. But actually, the bits I have read (the poor, bullied, disabled prep-school matron, the losing his virginity, and now this) are far, far worse than I could have predicted.

OMG. The self-centredness, utter lack of empathy and basic human kindness, the pushiness, the determination to get his own way (and make sure Meghan, the most important person, after all, in this scenario) got HER way at this tragic time for Charles and his siblings, is really horrible to witness.

If this were a version of the conversation written by Harry's worst enemy, it wouldn't surprise me. But it's meant to be in his own words, and he doesn't have a clue how he comes over, the ocean-going prat. He's viler than I thought.

I think James Moeran (is that the chappie? The ghost-writer) must have had a field day thinking...'Wow! Does he really want that to go in? And he's OK with it?'

Interesting how a differing opinion cannot be tolerated on this board. Very curious.

Yes it can be heard and yes it can be argued against. What makes you think you are so special that your comments should stand unchallenged?

The concerted group effort to shut down opposing opinions on this board is so weird.
Anyway, I think its a good thing we got Spare and the Netflix doc as well as the interviews as permanent historical records. Hopefully, more of the family/future spares will be empowered to speak directly rather than letting the tabloids tell their story.

Yes I agree, thankgod we have a permanent record of all the lies , false accusations and misinformation.
it would be a shame if they could attempt to hide their previous behaviour.
