As per the DM, we are told Meg is using Fairwinds Estate winery for her rose. Sounds nice.
But a Reddit user has discovered, that Fairwinds winery is just a brand under the umbrella of Wine gift shop. They do corporate gifts and print on demand. Oh Meg, as ever

Some pretty awful stuff by the SS on X concerning Catherine talking about her cancer journey.

The mail comments are bad enough, apparently she never had cancer and if she did she deserved it because she was horrible to ‘Princess Meghan’.

CurlewKate · 02/07/2025 19:35

Uricon2 · 02/07/2025 19:33

God, they are so horrible. I truly believe that if Meghan became ill (and I fervently hope that she doesn't) noone, at least on this board, would do anything but wish her the very best.

I suspect there would be a significant number of posters who would say she was copying…

I find the whole thing fascinating and I would love a thread about it. Happy to risk the bun fight!

I've started one. On RF board - hoping it can be civilised opinions - Starts with "Opinions May Vary " I liked your post but haven't mentioned it - all can speak for themselves.

ETA any bunfight monitoring welcome 😂

I don't think so at all. There is nothing to make capital out of about relatively young people having life threatening illness, not to anyone decent anyway.

Would someone please explain what clap back actually means?

A retort? Tit for tat?

Also lean into?

Many thanks

An old person

It basically means sharply responding to criticism. However! The way Meghan does it is often not via denial or defence of herself, but as a form of attack or justification where the locus of blame ends up somewhere else.

So for example, when ARO first launched, people were saying MM couldn't possibly have grown enough of her own strawberries to have produced 50 jars of strawberry jam to send to her friends. She could have just ignored this, but instead she clapped back. But not by saying she did indeed grow them (I don't think they do grow in that area) or admit that she bought them from the nearest supplier, but by having a go at Highgrove Estate and saying they buy in strawberries rather than using their own. So a clap back as a form of attack on an un-related entity (Highgrove Estate) and a justification for the unsaid bit (that she would have had to have bought the strawberries).

With the Briefcase Girl clap back, she did get some (admittedly unfair and salacious commentary) about her time on DOND. But she could have disarmed that with some grace and humour as a form of clap back, showing that sometimes you need to take roles that you wouldn't ideally take, as a stepping stone in the industry. Instead, she went down the feminist outrage route of victimisation and objectification. In other words, she did the job, but it was someone else's fault she ended up in this sexy and somewhat low-brow role.

Nor mine 🤷‍♀️

I don't think I've ever been asked what my parents did except on official forms when I was a child, and in those cases it was looking to give positive discrimination to those whose parents were not doing traditionally middle-class jobs.

And at uni I knew a fair number of people who had been to Eton/Harrow etc or had titles from this country or others, and not one asked what my parents did*.

*And they didn't go around talking about that either it was something that came out when you saw a piece of post for them or similar and they were more embarrassed than anything else

Not everyone has the bargain basement thought process of a Sussex fan/Kate hater.

I think you are way out of order with that spiteful snide remark aimed at regular posters on here.

That’s for @CurlewKate quote function didn’t work.

Really? You don’t think it’s true? Fair enough… I hope you’re right. It wasn’t aimed at anyone in particular, btw. There are a ton of posters on these threads.

Noone has ever wished illness on Meghan or Harry that I've ever seen and if anyone did I'm sure they would be eaten alive by the Montecitocritical "regulars".

Some things just aren't OK.

And imagine you were an alien and you were told to find out about the British royal family from Mumsnet alone, I think the chances are you’d come to the David and Goliath theory too

I'd hope an alien (even limited to MN threads as a reference) would come to the conclusion they're all equally appalling 👽

I would expect nothing less from someone who claims they have never been on celebitchy but introduced the inorganic "complicated cancer narrative" that was present on these vile websites.

Snide remarks about queueing for the lying in of a head of state, as if that is not very common around the world in republics and monarchies alike is also par for the course.

Some people are just full of hate and spite.

VelvetAndPVC · 02/07/2025 20:45

I had never heard of it before today but following comments on here I’ve just explored Celebitchy. My jaw was on the floor. I cannot believe how spiteful, ignorant and utterly deluded these people are. The hate and vitriol they spout for Britain and the Royal Family is shocking. They make me embarrassed to be American. Apologies guys.

Totally off topic but on the subject of fan buying - my osteopath, a keen tennis player with a son who works at Wimbledon informed me that players are scooping up their Evian water bottles and putting them in eBay.

or maybe his son and mates are

Loving the used one 😂

Really? In casual conversations, British people will ask what you do. They won't ask what your parents do. I have never had that experience. Not once.

Well I had my tongue somewhat in my cheek but it’s not far wide of the mark in certain circles. And while one may not be asked directly, the question will be asked.

Of course - for her own sake and because she’s the mother of young children.

I realise it’s a tiny minority, Velvet.

I’ve been checking it for a year or so and, like you, I couldn’t believe what I was reading at first. The uninhibited spite is shocking. Watch out for a charmer called Kellybelle who loathes the very bones of Catherine. Her comments make me feel physically ill.

Actually, the most shocking thing I’ve read is that a lot of these people go to church!😦. That must be different from any church I’ve ever been in!

Why do I look? I’ll explain in another post - it’s not just masochism.

Galdownunder · 02/07/2025 21:49

I've always had trouble understanding the SS groupies but this morning I saw some clips of women celebrating Diddys acquittal by twerking and spraying baby oil all down there bodies outside the courthouse and I realised - that's fandom. SS members are 100% that type.

VelvetAndPVC · 02/07/2025 22:04

Church going is big in the States but not all the folks who are regular Sunday attendees practice God’s word Monday to Saturday, that’s for sure. I was brought up in the church like most folk in my neighbourhood but now I’m living here in UK I hardly go. When I do go, for the big holidays, I find the congregation are committed practicing Christians.

It's a cult. That's cult behaviour. It's a very Hollywood phenomenon. Meghan was cultivating her following before she got together with Harry. Those young women who turned up to her WLM launch in NY were teen/tween fans of the Tig. She was arranging meet ups with these kids. That's weird.

Does anyone think she is actually really quite a sinister character? At times I wonder if she has some sort of personality disorder, not just narcissism.
