So they are showing faces now, how long until they are including them in everything, showing them fully.
I feel like this is a bit desperate now. It was their last card to play, the children. They’re trying anything now for attention, what do they have left, showing private videos of them after all the criticism about the Wales children being on display.
One thing about them is they always surprise me.

I certainly think that applies to the Sussex supporters @smilesy .I wouldn't expect people in the US to necessarily have a huge grasp of British history/constitutional history (although I know a few who do) but I've read some staggering things.

No expert on the US but I do understand a bit what the President is and does and if I were uncertain, I'd check.

smilesy · 19/06/2025 14:39

I do think that the Sussexes have never really comprehended that the Royal Family do actual have a constitutional role in this country and that the King is an actual Head of State. I think they genuinely just see them as a rich family that turn out occasionally to press the flesh or go on overseas tours

As time has gone on, I have come more to the conclusion that not only are the Sussexes greedy and dishonest, they are astoundingly ignorant, too.

It’s all about trust, as other posters have said.

I’m sure Charles must think. “Wth, I’ll say I want to see them” - but then reason - and the grey men - step in with the sad realisation that any conversation - let alone visit - will be relayed without delay to a willing wallet.

When Harry flew over to see his father after the King’s cancer diagnosis, Camilla stayed in the room. Harry has proven himself to be a mouth for hire, untrustworthy and disloyal.

Then there was the tantrum Harry threw about wanting Meghan to attend the Queen’s passing, and before that saying Meghan wanted to “dial in” to the Sandringham Summit. His wife has behaved appallingly to the rf so it’s no surprise that they are not keen to have her slinking round looking for Insta opportunities.

Yes - the post which suggested KC was sulking - and that was why he didn't enter into communication with Harry - completely misunderstands the situation.

If Charles is 'sulking' (which I doubt) I think he's justified in doing so considering the spite and cruelty which H & M have inflicted on the RF over the past 5 years.

But it's not that. He cannot speak to or write to Harry because H cannot be trusted with any private information ever again. I think I read (Tom Bower??? Not sure) that Harry was indignant that he wasn't allowed to see KC without Camilla or a courtier being present. I think Charles would be crazy to see Harry without several top lawyers present, personally!

Harry and Meghan have run out of gossip and material to criticise and blame the RF for. Any meeting or conversation with them would simply top up their stock of fuel, which is all they have to bargain with in terms of future income.

Don't let them have any, Charles!

CoffeeCantata · 19/06/2025 17:07

Mymanyellow · 19/06/2025 13:47

Just to be clear I don’t think the king is sulking either. But I’ve e heard it said that he should ‘get over it’ and invite them over. Also for what it’s worth I think William will take a much harder line than the king has.

I agree.

The horrors on Celebitchy are always saying that William is angry, has 'anger issues', has a temper on him etc.

I can imagine that William was, and perhaps sometimes still is, incandescent with rage about what Harry and Meghan have done and I don't blame him. He has been utterly betrayed by his brother. William must be constantly thinking of the future now his father is ill, and (like George VI after Edward VIII's abdication) he must feel the loss of his brother in terms of emotional and practical support.

Whatever Charles does, I don't see William ever forgiving Harry. It's just not possible. Whether William blames Harry and Meghan in any way for Catherine's illness (stress is certainly cancer's best mate), who knows? But their callousness since then, even failing to speak out against the vile 'Where's Kate? campaign, must have cut him even deeper.

I think William is scarred emotionally by the Sussex's behaviour (as is Catherine) and that to him, his brother is dead. Tragic but inevitable.

Just looking at photos from Ascot and thinking why would you walk away from that life? I’d suck it up to go to events like that and Wimbledon and have the best seats.

Did you ever read that Aesop's Fable about the dog with the bone? He's walking home with a lovely juicy bone and he goes by a river. He sees a dog in the river with a bone and decides he'll have two! So he jumps in the river to get it. It's his reflection of course.
He loses his original bone and goes home wet.
Meghan and Harry had a juicy bone, but greed and stupidity made them lose the good thing they had.

Yes, I always think it would be lovely to be someone slightly more tangential, like Zara, or Autumn Phillips (pre-divorce). More obscure so can walk down the street, no one is really particularly interested in your children so fewer worries around that, you don’t have to do the boring opening of a community centre stuff, but any fun event you like the look of you can probably go to.

Trouble is, going on their behaviour, neither does the set-up they clearly preferred

upinaballoon · 19/06/2025 19:35

While I was gone out several of you have put up posts about the King's position. I had been thinking in my amateur way - 'King, links to government, the people, the safety of the people of the UK' and you have been writing excellent posts along those lines.

I wonder if Camilla said, "I'm staying" and the King and the courtiers said, "You bet you are. There was never any question that you weren't." (I'm sure there's a nursery rhyme in there somewhere.)

I’ve also wondered whether William sees a link between Harry’s treatment of his father and wife and their illnesses. Perhaps in particular their being announced to the world as racists, without so much as a peep from the Sussexes.

I agree William will never forgive Harry. Plus it would be a dumb move anyway, they are so unpopular and so untrustworthy, it would reflect badly on William were they ever to return to the fold.

Still beats trying to pay your bills and put food on the table, that doesn’t particularly nurture peace of mind.

Uricon2 · 19/06/2025 19:47

Didn't the Queen Mother refer to Wallis Simpson as "the woman who killed my husband"? Not entirely fair considering it was actually Edward who bailed and left an ill prepared man to it, plus George was a heavy smoker. The stress of being a wartime King (he deserves huge respect for how he conducted himself) cannot have helped though.

However, people are sometimes not entirely rational when those close to them are suffering by the actions of others, perceived or otherwise and Catherine has garnered much flak both from H&M and from their supporters.

Yeah. A ‘ spare’ in fact.

NormaMajors1992coat · 19/06/2025 19:54

I’m slightly surprised that the “did Harry cause their cancer” narrative hasn’t been a thing in the tabloids. (And pleased - I don’t think it would be at all helpful.)

You're not wrong,Bunnylake - or as someone once said, "money might not buy happiness, but at least you can be miserable in comfort"

It's still a point, though, that their behaviour doesn't seem to indicate happiness in their new life either

Baital · 19/06/2025 20:06

Some people will never have enough to satisfy them, however well off they are. It's sad for them, and even more so for the people around them they hurt.

Puts me in mind of seats 7 and 8 in Row H at the Bob Marley premiere.

The Henrys didn't even qualify for the free water row IIRC 🤐

Bickybics · 19/06/2025 20:22

I dont understand all these press stories about returning to the RF. Clearly Harry is never going to bow to William, Meghan didn’t even want to do it to the Queen. Think they will let their kids do it. There’s probably not that many years before it happens.

I think hell will freeze over before Harold's kids are put in a position where they're expected to bow or curtsey to anyone and TBF I'd be entirely with him on that.

I don’t think he saw it as privileged, just that he was entitled to it all as his birthright.
