H&M Fathers Day video

So they are showing faces now, how long until they are including them in everything, showing them fully.
I feel like this is a bit desperate now. It was their last card to play, the children. They’re trying anything now for attention, what do they have left, showing private videos of them after all the criticism about the Wales children being on display.
One thing about them is they always surprise me.

Interesting that Meghan did not centre herself at all in the video. I wonder if she is listening to advice from the latest PR gurus.

CurlewKate · 16/06/2025 09:48

Would you be able to recognise the children if you met them today from those videos? I wouldn’t!

Probably not, but I'm not sure I get your point?

Thedom · 16/06/2025 10:22

They may be “cute” videos and it may be difficult to recognise them as they are now.

It's also about the speculation around the kids online, the speculation that Archie is neurodiverse, why is he always dressed for a different season to everyone else in the photos, that Lilibeth isn't pretty enough for Meghan to show her face, her eyes have changed colour from the blue, blue that Meghan was excited about, the amazing hair that Harry boasted about which is now being critiqued as not that amazing after all.

They have handed up the kids on a silver platter to be critiqued and exposed to all sorts of commentary, good and bad.

Their kids might not be on Social Media, but they already have a massive online footprint, open to millions and millions of viewers, despite H&M's warnings about the evils of SM.

Bontonbonbon · 16/06/2025 10:25

Sunnyevenings · 16/06/2025 09:20

To be fair William and Kate are known for wheeling out the kids to divert bad publicity. Not as much since Kate stepped back since being sick.

Anyway who cares about any of them. They are all little rich kids with rich parents who don’t know or care about our existence. And I don’t care enough to continue contributing either to be honest.

The video was cute, The way it was filmed/edited reminded me of an old tv series called The Wonder Years. The kids at Trooping looked cute too. That’s the extent of my interest in the ‘royal’ family’.

See that’s just it. No one would blink an eye if Harry hadn’t gone on about his worry for his brother’s children and publicity and made a huge thing about the damaging nature of social media.

If there supporters hadn’t criticised the Waleses for letting the kids be photographed and gone on and on about privacy as well this would be a non-issue.

But like everything else with H&M it is the wild hypocrisy which makes people gasp at their audacity.

Sharing photos of the kids was bad when Meghan couldn’t be in social media. But now she needs the followers it’s apparently fine to invade her children’s privacy.

Tell us again Harry how having your childhood photographed was so traumatic.

The advice seems to be to merch the kids as hard as possible to build a following for herself.

Fluffyholeysocks · 16/06/2025 10:33

I think the change of heart regarding showing the children's faces may have come with the arrival of yet another PR team.

Ohpleeeease · 16/06/2025 10:35

I thought it was a nice video in the wrong place. Presumably (one would hope) this tribute was meant for Harry’s eyes so no need to post it publicly. Is anyone actually interested in what two random children look like?

Edited

The problem is also, when any online rumours start, like mentioned above, then they are never quashed until you see categoric evidence otherwise.

Like with Kate ‘missing’- it took her making a video saying she’s battling cancer for it to stop.

The Meg moonbump rumours- will never go away until ….well I dont know what it would take now for those rumours to stop.

But this is just what happens when you have an online social media / public presence ….people around the world will talk. This is why she shouldn’t have started putting the kids on insta, giving them a social media profile. Because until she shows the kids faces, videos with normal/personable interactions, then the rumours will rumble on but as soon as she shows the kids faces, everyone will see what hypocrites they are. She shouldn’t have started this brand Sussex kids venture on Insta. It’s a hiding to nothing. The losers in this are the kids.

The video would have been put together by a team of communications people - it would not have been a sweet home movie put together by Meghan

FenellaFeldman · 16/06/2025 10:40

They will be keen promote the children, because that's what they have left to sell. Yes, they've lectured on children and social media etc etc, but that's just what they're like, not particularly logical or honest, and it's all about the dosh.
The children are Prince and Princess, they'll want to really milk the royal angle. What else can they sell? Jam? Dancing videos?
Harry and Meghan are very royal, that's really important to them, for the status and privilege and wealth. The best way to access that now is through Archie and Lilibet.

FenellaFeldman · 16/06/2025 10:42

As pp have said, they've talked about their children a lot, shared details and imagery a lot. I don't think this is any different to what they've already decided about brand Sussex.

CurlewKate · 16/06/2025 09:48

Would you be able to recognise the children if you met them today from those videos? I wouldn’t!

Privacy isn’t only related to being recognised right now though. I don’t put pictures of my children on SM, and I’m not massively unusual in that I don’t think. The reason I have an issue with influencers using their children for content isn’t because they’ll be recognised.

I mean, they can do what they want, obviously. But just because the pictures aren’t present doesn’t mean it’s not the child’s privacy being invaded. So it’s silly to pretend that’s the case.

PeggyMitchellsCameo · 16/06/2025 10:47

Out of all the things they have released, this is the only one that felt it had genuine feelings on show. Harry actually looks happy and relaxed.
They have let lots of PR staff go, so they just have no sort of strategic plan.
Of course, they need to monetise the children now. They need to earn money, and the press have been waiting to see them.
You can’t have privacy once you do that, though. And you can’t complain when it’s invaded.
Her Instagram page is a bit of a mess if she wants to be an influencer. She needs someone with an eye for detail.
If they wanted to leave the RF, which they did, they would have been so much better off if they’d retained a bit of mystery. No Oprah, tell-all book and mud slinging. A bit of decorum and class would have gone a long way.
If Royal life wasn’t for them, they could have still lived very well with a more subtle approach.

Tbf, my social media yesterday was full of women posting a variety of pictures with a “best dad ever, our kids are so lucky” caption. I don’t do it, but I can see that sharing these kinds of messages isn’t an unusual thing to do nowadays.

Yes, however, this isn't just shared with friends and family, it's shared with the intention of promoting the children and the family.

Sunnyevenings · 16/06/2025 09:13

I used it? Is there something wrong with it? It’s a term I use to describe other people’s children because it sounds weird to say if they are good looking, unkind to say if they are not and frankly when I don’t care either way.

Although there was a thread a few months ago from a mum who thought her child was the most beautiful baby ever because strangers who were standing in the same queue told her that her baby was cute. It turns out a great number of us tell strangers their babies are cute and mean nothing by it other than we are making small talk.

I don’t even know why I’m arsed discussing my use of the word with you. Presumably you think I’m American or maybe you think I’m Meghan Markle wasting my time on MN. Or maybe YOU are trolling.

It was used by SS on social media to describe the twerking video. As in, part of the SS script for that day.

AsEverATwat · 16/06/2025 10:53

A quote from H

"Life is better off of social media," he continued. "I say that as a parent,.."

Hoolahoophop · 16/06/2025 10:53

I think the kids are probably recognizable without having ever seen a photo. Their parents are some of the most recognizable people around, they are always in the media their features expressions pulled apart in minute detail. Unless their children have absolutely no features in common with their parents, and wider family they will be recognizable.

Might as well put out a few staged family photos like we see of the Wales kids. With no details about personality. There is a reason that the Royal family have a SOP and stick to it. Its been honed over generations. Is it perfect, no, but not bad enough to try to re-invent the wheel.

No , they didn’t want to leave ! Their statement in January 2020 made it perfectly clear what they wanted - make lots of money whilst retaining the perks of the RF.,

They've certainly been determined to remain royal, behave in a royal way, and keep the privileges!

upinaballoon · 16/06/2025 10:56

I agree with you, @PeggyMitchellsCameo that Harry looks happy and relaxed, and it is good to see. I liked the shot where he was reading to Archie and for some reason Archie was laughing away. I read posts which suggest H and M are away a lot and the children are 'brought up by staff' but I think they have close relationships with their parents, by the looks of things. Who knows, perhaps TLQE2 told all of her grandchildren to spend precious time with their children as much as they could.
(No, this doesn't mean that I admired the Oprah interview!)

JSMill · 16/06/2025 10:57

I do wonder if they want their dcs more in the public eye because they envy the Wales children. While you do read stupid comments about Louise, in general there’s a lot of warm feelings towards the children. I wonder if they want that for their dcs.

Vespanest · 16/06/2025 11:03

It's not just those who want to examine every photo for discrepancies that are the problem for these children, it's also their supporters who are flooding social media with gushing love ins. Harry has failed to provide the continual income needed to provide his children with the privacy he wanted for them. The Father's Day post has limited comments, I don't think any are showing but time will tell.

I think that’s right and also maybe dynasty building. That’s why they’ve went out their way to create brand ‘Sussex’. When that actually isn’t their surname.

Brand Sussex can now continue even if Archie doesn’t have heirs to pass the Dukedom on to.

The female line of the Kennedy family often will still use the Kennedy name, use a double barrel name and most certainly pass it on to their kids.

I suspect that’s what they will want Lili to do too, pass on the Sussex name.

It’s all brand building.

Wait a minute, is “cute” a code word?🤣🤣🤣
