Wish I could go back and find all those posters who predicted a Kardashian-esqe social media blitz at some point in H&M's future, wonder where are all the posters who we're so affronted by the very idea of that.

People magazine and all, the uber celeb magazine.

I guess needs must with the downfall of her business efforts, \oh look, here are my kids whose privacy we have decided to forego for the greater good of taking the heat off what a crap business woman I am'.

@AtIusvue thanks for the link to the Vanity Fair article. Very interesting.
I'm intrigued at how infantilised H&M are, treated as victims, people were mean to Meghan at school, Harry's mother was killed, therefore any behaviour is excused.
Also; Harry's plan for a programme interviewing sociopaths, based on the premise that he had terrible childhood trauma, and hasn't turned out like Putin et al. Extraordinary. Does he really think that he had the worst experience of any human on the planet?

Evidently he does.

Also, the stupid "imperialist" narrative is trotted out again.
They live in California. This was colonised by white people, and the indigenous tribes were routinely murdered and enslaved. The Native Americans became slaves after slavery was abolished in the British Empire, and the Royal Navy were enforcing that on the high seas.
So, a couple who are very happy to live in Trump's America, in a white colony gained by murder and enslavement?
Hypocrisy.

NormaMajors1992coat · 14/06/2025 10:04

I think the fact that at his age he has that take on Diana’s death - “my mother was essentially murdered” - speaks volumes about Harry.

Yes, I agree. Plus some sort of weird projection onto Meghan, and a vengeance narrative against "the press" (sic).

He’s a walking psychology textbook 😬

AtIusvue · 14/06/2025 10:13

It’s weird how two long term Archewell staff went. I get the new PR guys went and the IG content person ….but something seems afoot with Deesha and Lianne being given the boot.

AtIusvue · 14/06/2025 10:17

Must be to do with salaries, there’s no way 6 salaried staff members in your in-house team is cheaper than using a PR firm on retainer.

A PR firm that’s seemingly known to be a ‘disrupter’ and creates hyper viral content. It’s all just so….cheap

NormaMajors1992coat · 14/06/2025 10:44

How is this going to end - will they just keep lurching from one failed project to the next? What comes after As ever? Will the money really run out? I assume it must be running out judging by Meghan’s ever more desperate attempts to make more. What happens then?

Basically, what do they have going for them these days? Some money still, the house which is worth a few quid, their titles, but they are diminishing in relevance and value I think, a few celebs who will collaborate with them, but they tend to be either minor ones seeking publicity (Tina Knowles) or equally controversial (Chrissy Teigen). The Netflix deal, which may or may not be renewed and surely doesn’t generate income now. I just can’t see what their path to success might be. Maybe Spare 2 would keep them going for a bit longer? Or a tell-all from Meghan? I guess a divorce would make them some headlines over quite a few years but there doesn’t seem to be any suggestion of that. Maybe some revelations after Thomas Markle dies? But surely she wouldn’t get embroiled with the siblings if she didn’t have to. Any soothsayers want to speculate?

I wonder if the twerking video is pre or post new team? If it’s the current “challenger”strategy then it seems H&M are “going low” and aiming for publicity at any price.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if there will be increased poking at the rf in the hope of provoking a reaction and keeping them connected. No one cares about As Ever stuff - boring. They need to keep their hooks in the royal fold.

Can someone explain how things like the twerking video help with generating income? Like, both in their heads and in reality, if these are not the same..

OctopusFriend · 14/06/2025 11:13

It seems to be about getting the tabloid headlines, which they love, ditto the sm "likes".
I wonder if this is just a desperate strategy to keep a high profile as celebrities so that money can be generated from advertising and affiliate links?

MaturingCheeseball · 14/06/2025 11:14

I suppose followers = ad and collaboration opportunities. Although the twerking will not be attracting high end brands, more like In-and-Out Burger, Nandos etc.

I expect Disney was a win - if their trip was comped. I don’t know if it would have been if Disney had copped an eyeful of the twerking first…

AtIusvue · 14/06/2025 11:19

Seemingly thats 25 members of staff that have left since 2018. That says it all.

I think they must have some major money worries to let go of 6 salaried staff, in favour of a retainer for a PR company.

How is this going to end

None of us know, @NormaMajors1992coat, but I doubt it'll be happily even if that's what was originally hoped for them

Today is "No Kings Day". Live protests around the entire US. H&M are living in a fantasy land.

No Kings

On June 14—Flag Day—Donald Trump wants tanks in the street and a made-for-TV display of dominance for his birthday. A spectacle meant to look like strength. But real power isn’t staged in Washington. It rises up everywhere else.

@GiveMeSpanakopita

One question from a layperson. Given how many staff including PR M&H have been through , what keeps people accepting jobs from them? Is it - maybe I can make them change their minds & I can do a good job if so , and/or , I'll give it a go and if it starts reflecting badly on me I'll just leave (as per your professional reputation point) , or are they paying a high salary and so it's worth a go or something else. Now I suppose that will depend on the individual taking the job. I wonder at what point insider industry gossip will mean the top people won't touch them , or maybe that has already happened. I'm just curious given I know nothing of that world.

@BemusedAmerican thanks for that. What is happening in the US is genuinely alarming.

I can't imagine anyone with any pride or self respect releasing videos that are globally ridiculed just for clicks. If this were me and I read the scathing comments , it would really damage my mental health.

ETA: everyone likes to be liked and it takes a strong person to brush off criticism and take so many personal attacks. H&M just don't have the inner strength for this clickbait approach .

BemusedAmerican · 14/06/2025 12:01

I have to work today. It will be interesting to see how busy we are. Unfortunately it's currently raining but I think people in NYC will still protest.

NormaMajors1992coat · 14/06/2025 12:05

I wonder what drives Meghan to keep trying. It must be so dispiriting to fail over and over, and to be ridiculed globally. How on earth does she keep going I wonder? If this kind of dogged perseverance was combined with any kind of talent and people skills, she would surely be flying. (Then again, maybe the ability to come up with a succession of dumb ideas is not the kind of perseverance that counts. She doesn’t seem able to stick at anything for long.)

Purplebunnie · 14/06/2025 12:13

I don't know how either of them keeps going It's a very sorry state of affairs.

I was disappointed that they left the RF I really thought they would be an asset. Their antics since have been embarrassing and Harry's apparent lack of understanding of how the RF works has been astonishing. I don't know how they come back from this (if they even can or even want to) and have any credence.

And it could have been so different
