Wish I could go back and find all those posters who predicted a Kardashian-esqe social media blitz at some point in H&M's future, wonder where are all the posters who we're so affronted by the very idea of that.

People magazine and all, the uber celeb magazine.

I guess needs must with the downfall of her business efforts, \oh look, here are my kids whose privacy we have decided to forego for the greater good of taking the heat off what a crap business woman I am'.

I am posting my opinion thanks very much.

It is genuine. But you can all go ahead and frame it how you like for the purposes of your own arguments.

It would be refreshing though if you actually addressed the matter in hand instead of digressing.

Edited

I’m not digressing. If the images weren’t there in the first place, we wouldn’t have anything to repost, would we?

This lies solely at the feet of the parents who post private images and information about their kids who are not able to consent. All to promote their brand and flag Meghan’s products.

gerispringer · 08/06/2025 21:58

Of course Saints William and Kate never post pictures of their kids do they?

Of course they do. But they have never said they wouldn’t. And the pictures they post are official pictures or portraits to mark specific occasions, or footage of them taking part in official events. They do not post pictures of them on family holidays. And of course, there is a legitimate reason for the public having an interest in the children who are directly in line to the throne. The Sussexes, not so
much

But if you were genuinely interested in the children’s privacy, you wouldn’t re-post the images at all.

I have already explained.

By posting it here you expose the image to a new audience. Not everyone has seen it before.

I've asked this before and never got an answer, so I'll ask it again.

What material difference does partially obscuring the kids' faces make? The kids aren't going to have any public role, so there is absolutely no reason for their parents to post photos of them publicly at all. They could, like the majority of celebrities, keep their children entirely private. But they choose not to. How does slapping on a slightly creepy looking heart emoji change all that? And if they ever do show the kids' entire faces, will you consider that a bad thing?

I'm not being goady. I'm genuinely curious.

No I wouldn’t have an issue personally with them showing their faces, But I don’t have an issue with H and M at all.
I

But if the parents were genuinely interested in the children’s privacy, they wouldn’t post the images at all 🤷🏼‍♀️

Does that also mean I’m not allowed to discuss the kids had Influenza A and RSV even though Meghan discussed their medical history on her podcast?

Tripthelightfantastical · 08/06/2025 22:09

I think the way that they are using photos of their children with their faces blocked out is designed to increase interest. They are deliberately ramping up speculation and interest in their ‘product’ for want of a better word. They are using their children as product placement to promote themselves and their image and the things they are selling. It’s deeply distasteful. The Wales kids have to seen in public but the way in which they are presented and the occasions are carefully chosen . No doubt W and K would much prefer them to live completely private lives but they have no choice about it.
M and H are deliberately stoking interest and speculation so that people will pore over photos and get excited about the glimpses they get. So we are falling into their trap by becoming sucked in. Me included. I don’t think photos should be posted here ,
even though I asked where I could find a new image being discussed. Maybe we all need to reflect on how we are being manipulated.

rayofhope75 · 08/06/2025 22:10

To be fair to @Plasticcheeeandgherkinsi had never
seen the image of the Christmas card before until it was posted on here. At the time it was just a blurry image and you couldn’t see the faces clearly.

Plasticcheeeandgherkins · 08/06/2025 22:11

Also, that particular image from the card does show the children’s faces full on, whereas the other images don’t. In the other images they have emojis obscuring their faces or they have their backs to the camera or are partly turned away from the camera.

Royal or not, I think it’s odd to post photos of other people’s dc on sm.

And many of us do not read the sort of newspapers or magazines where those sorts of images appear, so we won’t have seen them before.

But how is it logical to do the same thing which you have argued is wrong?

At Christmas when the card was shown in the background of that lady who they sent it to. I can’t recall her name.

No, this card was from Christmas 2021 and was officially released by the Sussexes. Try Google 😊

I guess I’m just like their parents then? They said they wanted to protect their kids privacy but now exploit them. The only difference is I have no skin in the game. I’ve got my own kids to look after. They clearly aren’t protecting their kids privacy if we are able to repost all these images of them. They shouldn’t have done it in the first place, nor discuss private details about them in podcasts (ie monetising them)

IcedPurple · 08/06/2025 22:17

So what was the point of your original post then?

If you wouldn't have an issue with their faces being shown then saying "What’s the issue? There are no faces visible" makes no sense.

And would you say the same about all the other celebs who share some pics with their children in it but with faces hidden or just the backs of their head e.g. Elton John?

rayofhope75 · 08/06/2025 22:18

Yes.

It’s pointless at best, dangerous at worst.

I haven’t seen photos of Elton’s children. He’s not selling anything so his children don’t matter in that way. If other celebs use photos of their kids to promote their image, yes I do think it’s wrong. Their children deserve to live private lives .

Well it was never blurred, nor was it the one in the back of the photo of Gloria Steinman’s apartment. It was publicly released by the Sussexes and reproduced by the media. Like I said, Google it. There are lots of links

Sorry, but you sound completely ridiculous here.

They're kids. No different from little Joe and Jilly down the road. The world isn't going to come crashing down if their faces are seen on the interwebs ffs!

They're just kids.

Tripthelightfantastical · 08/06/2025 22:21

Part of the interest in A and L is curiosity to see who the children look like because they are the grandchildren of the Monarch. M and H know that and use that curiosity to drum up publicity for themselves. I think that’s distasteful .

Serenster · 08/06/2025 22:21

Architectural Digest? That’s where the Christmas card image was published. 😀

By posting it here you expose the image to a new audience. Not everyone has seen it before.

It has been seen all over the media, MSM and social, as well as on H&M's own documentary series. Just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean it is not a well known photo. And sinceitwas put out by H&M for public consumption, what is your problem with it being shared?

Serenster · 08/06/2025 22:28

You can hardly call out H & M for exposing their dc to publicity while doing exactly the same thing?

i don’t publish photos of my children for publicity. I have private social media accounts and only let genuine friends and family have access. I also don’t use them to publicise my work. Hope that helps.

Criticising a poster for reposting an image widely published in the global media (and in response to a direct question) is ridiculous.
