The royal family

Do you think some of you are addicted to hating Harry and Meghan?

More and more these manic threads are popping up on mumsnet, wild posts and theories and then hundreds of posts brimming with excitement about catching them out or exposing them. It’s like a game or a hunt. Have many of you crossed the line from interested to addicted?

So it's ok to call posters who don't agree with the prolific and often unpleasant posting about Harry and Meghan, stans, fans, super fans, Sussex squad etc

What if posters aren't any of those things, but they just don't agree or don't care and can't quite understand why it's so incessant. You can do what you want. But I am allowed to say I find it weird. Especially when you want them to go away, but you are feeding the frenzy so really you are the super fans maybe?!🤣

A PP was talking all about celebitchy and how horrible it is, what is that to do with mumsnet. We aren't celebitchy. I presume it's some sort of justification for doing the same to harry and Meghan here, as is done on there about Kate and william

A comma!

What's bizarre is that anyone Reported and that my post was deleted for pointing out that Dopamine + Validation = Addiction. And that the post you responded to was my first post on this thread so there was no again about it.
🤯🤯🤯

What’s even more bizarre is that you keep reposting a comment that mumsnet deem to have broken their rules. I suggest you stop doing it

What rules has my post broken?

Ask mumsnet not me. But they would have deleted it for a reason so it’s odd to keep reposting it

Reallyhowisthatthecase333 · 11/05/2025 21:36

Sorry to be pedantic but the op phrased her opening post as a question. She did not openly accuse. She asked people’s opinions. And everyone is allowed to express their own.

I have reported it to MN. I look forward to their response. Because I'm gobsmacked. I don't understand why it was reported in the first place.🤯

I'm guessing that I didn't get email notifications because it's a Sunday.

I don’t think it’s the being called obsessed or addicted that’s the issue. I like talking about the royal family, fashion, current and cultural issues. I probably am addicted to talking about the royal family, like some are addicted about talking about cars, celebs, vacations etc, I think it’s the ‘hating’ phrase that is the problem. It feels like if you’re not licking Harry and Meghan’s arsehole, you are labelled a hater, no matter what they’ve done to make people take the piss out of them.

My experience is that if you say anything even mildly negative about William and Catherine, you are instantly a H&M fan! It is deeply weird….

Yes. But those who don’t agree with you are also allowed to say that what they think, and your obsessive defence and gushing of Harry and Meghan is also weird. It is, but they don’t start a thread slagging your point of view off!

What’s good for the goose is also good for the gander, so to speak.

Should they start a thread called ‘do you think some of you are addicted to gushing and stanning Harry and Meghan?’

It’s been deleted twice yet you still don’t understand why? 🤦🏼‍♀️

Where am I gushing? You just make this sort of stuff up. Where am I obsessive?

There you go again calling me a Stan.

My personal opinion is that there are certain posters who cannot stand, absolutely cannot stand, to hear anything even mildly defending Harry and Meghan. That is weird

I know them. I've been here a long time. So I eagerly await MNHQ's response.

But since you think I broke the rules, perhaps you can enlighten me in the meantime @Munnygirl?

@PrettyFlyforaMaiTaiCould you link to a thread where anyone has gushed about H&M?

Reallyhowisthatthecase333 · 11/05/2025 21:21

I think some posters are trying to get this thread deleted for their own reasons.

I think it’s fair, and in the interest of balance, that it stands.

I am not a member of any squad and I happen to think that the op has asked a legitimate question.

And I fail to see why being called an addict is considered insulting, if there is absolutely no truth in the accusation or question,

The answer is open to debate.

I think it would be interesting to discuss why everyone is as interested in all members of the RF to the degree that they appear to be tbh.

Says the poster banging on about being polite and talking in a measured way when you have posted this, you really need to practice what you preach.

Whereas I would use the adjectives: obsessed, prejudiced and unhinged!

Sorry but those are my genuine responses to some not all of these threads!

I am not using those descriptions gratuitously.

Of course Being accused of being an addict is offensive. It’s a massive assumption about people that you don’t know. Just because you don’t think it isn’t offensive does not mean you are correct

TooBigForMyBoots · 11/05/2025 22:25

No one accused you of anything. This thread is about addiction. Talking about the nature addiction is not offensive, nor is it an accusation against you.
